Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[ Well then, hope you don’t mind if his exasperation completely supersedes that sense of relief he’d just felt. While he’d expected a proliferation of books at a temple of learning, this…this would be a nightmare for any housekeeping staff. ]

The history of… [ There are so many questions…he might as well start with the obvious one: ]

Is it truly necessary? [ For…something?? ]

Well, I was looking for it. [ As if that explains anything. ] It's a good book, and I hadn't expected to find it here as well.

[ He makes his way out of where he is, a few things fall on the floor as he does, but it's nothing too bad. ]

In fact, I've found duplicates of many of the books I had before, including one or two that might interest you, if you're here for that.

But—I— [ Dammit, he was never good with the space cases. You can't snark at them; you can't even get them to maintain proper posture.

He flinches, speechless for the moment as Tenpou's movement has caused yet another cascade of oddments to fall over. At last, Tenpou gives him something to hold onto, and yet…

Despairing: ] Indeed, I was. Only… [ He gives the mess around them a critical look. ]

I presume that we would need to organize everything before finding what we both need, is that correct?

[ Yes. He's considering picking up what just fell on the floor... and thinks better of it. He decides to look at Jakob instead. ]

That does sound like a good idea. But do you have the time for that?

[ Look, he's being considerate and everything. ]

[ Well, he can’t lose face now, when he’s here as Data-Roxas’s representative. Or something. As tedious as it may be to help someone who isn’t his god… ]

I…might be able to spare perhaps fifteen minutes, if you are willing to wait, Master Tenpou.

I appreciate it. I'll help too.

[ And he really appreciates it! So he'll make an effort. Of course, some people prefer to ask him not to touch anything, and they may not be wrong in doing that... But his intentions are good, okay. Having people around for cleaning helps him focus on what he actually needs to do (put things in their places), and it also helps his mood. ]

Have you and your god been busy?

Er… [ He isn’t sure about that part about Tenpou offering to help out—nevertheless, he isn’t his god so Jakob shouldn’t be as concerned, right? But Tenpou doesn’t give him time to respond to that, or to contemplate on what terrors he might unleash by letting Tenpou help with the cleaning. ]

Well enough. Maintaining a temple as formidably impeccable as Change’s does take some effort. For instance… [ He brushes the dust off of a thick volume on the wonders of knitting. ]

“Gosh Darn It!” Hmm. Might I inquire as to your method of cataloguing this extensive library, Master Tenpou?

[blossomstorm]

[ . . . Having brought that book with him was worth it just to hear him read the title out loud. ]

Let's see. Most of these books should be encyclopedias or books on history, philosophy, or other subjects... And there's some shounen manga, too. Those would be the main categories here. [ Why "other subjects" counts as a category, we don't know. ]

Ah, but any worn books, or notebooks, or papers that you find have a category of their own, regardless of their subject. So put those on this table, please.

[ This table doesn't look like a table anymore, not with all the books and miscellaneous items that are already on it. ]

[ And he doesn’t even realize how silly he sounds. ]

Of course. [ He guesses he should start by cleaning up that table, first. It doesn’t look like it can last for much longer under the weight of all that stuff on it.

Not to mention… ]

You have amassed quite an impressive collection in here. [ There might have been a note of approval somewhere in there. ]

I must say that, despite your temple’s currently deplorable condition, it is…comforting to have such a learned and cultured man in our midst.

[ The deplorable condition comment isn't a lie... but it could be so, so, so much worse. Better not to say that, though! ]

I don't know if I would call myself that... Then again, as Athena, I suppose that's what's expected. [ He takes out his cigarettes, but he doesn't light one yet. He starts looking for something instead, cigarette in his mouth. ]

If you see anything that catches your interest, let me know. I can probably lend it to you, unless I need it for something.

[ Jakob can’t help but start at the sight of that cigarette—should he really be smoking around the books? Some of these are fragile enough as it is—what if they’re stained or worse, catch fire? ]

I…might make a few requests later, in exchange for putting your temple to rights. [ Eying Tenpou warily— ]

Er, is there a problem?

Oh, I'm just looking for my ashtray.

[ He stops, looking at the table, considering. Since Jakob is there, it should appear in no time. It will work out. So he lights his cigarette after all. ]

You don't smoke, do you?

[gentilitea]

[ Oh, that ashtray is definitely going to be found, if only because Jakob has this sinking feeling that Tenpou would just drop the butt to the floor afterward. ]

I…no, Master Tenpou. I have very few vices. [ Excuse him while he just…nonchalantly tries not to look frantic while he rummages over the junk on the table for an ashtray. ]

It would interfere with my work, you see.
