002 | Tokyo In Trouble
Who: Everyone!
What: Surprise! There's a disaster on the Near Shore.
When: Late at night (February 24, 2016) into mid-afternoon (February 25, 2016)
Where: The Meeting Hall of the Heavens AND various places around Tokyo
Summary: A nice little greeting for the new guests and an unpleasant surprise for the older ones~

A sudden, loud blast of noise persists throughout the entirety of the Heavens. It sounds much like a war horn of ancient times being played at a decibel that is meant to shake the very core of every being within its range. No matter how much you might try to block out the noise, it remains ringing in your ears deafeningly, and somehow you find yourself compelled towards the Meeting Hall - the place where you were first introduced to the Heavens and what you have gotten wrapped up in.
Anyone checking their phones will notice a large, bright red alert flashing at them - 'EMERGENCY! REPORT IMMEDIATELY!' It seems that the Heavens have taken to using modern technology for their messages as well.
Once you have reached the Meeting Hall, you will find that every wall has turned into a sort of television screen, displaying various streets and buildings in Tokyo, everyone one literally crawling with ayakashi both big and small. A voice that you recognize as Amaterasu's - though you would never be able to describe it properly - rings throughout the halls.
"We need your help, brave gods, loyal shinki. A rift the likes of which we have never dealt with has opened on the Near Shore. We must end the ayakashi who are harming our dear followers. Please come to our aid in this time of need."

Meeting Hall
The once garishly decorated Meeting Hall looks very much like the base of operations for an army at war. There are gods gearing up with shinki and man-made gear as well and plenty of gods and shinki saying prayers before they head out to battle. Everything you might need to make yourself feel safe during a fight has been provided, including every type of weaponry. But, of course, only shinki wielded by a god can actually destroy an ayakashi.
Counselling
In the main hallway, there is an innocuous door with a small, nicely written sign that reads "Gentle Counselling". Inside the door is a small room with a few sweetly smiling shinki inside who are willing to listen to your problems and answer any questions you might have. They are also here to help out any gods that are having a hard time dealing with knowing about how their shinki died and any shinki that is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that they are dead.
February 24
The rift that has opened is so vast that there is literally nowhere in Tokyo that you can go without encountering a rampaging group of ayakashi. Everything is utter chaos and there are creatures everywhere for you to fight. Let's just hope that you can get out of this dangerous battlefront mostly unscathed.
February 25
Towards the middle of the day, it will seem that the ayakashi are becoming fewer and further between. Things seem to be calming down a lot, though they are nowhere near normal yet, especially since the rift is taking longer to close than the Heavens would like. Fortunately, no new ayakashi have escaped into the Near Shore from the rift since this morning, due to a barrier that has been placed around it. Still, the ayakashi seem to be really hell-bent on getting away from you all now rather than fighting...

In Summary:
- There are a ton of ayakashi on the Near Shore that need to be destroyed.
- The newbies are getting one hell of a welcome as a result.
- Seek counselling if you need it!
- Go kick some evil ass.
- Comment to the first thread to get a randomly generated number of ayakashi to face.
- Mods will gladly play out any ayakashi interactions where requested.
- Try not to get killed~

But he's also crazier than a sack full of cats, and always has been.
"But not you, huh? Zero sense of aesthetic." He chuckles to himself, off kilter and jittery because he can't let himself slow down. If he slows down now, he'll lose what precarious internal equilibrium he's still holding onto. The ayakashi were so like taboo noise, but spread a corruption that he couldn't refactor. (Yet. It's a function of time, he's certain.) They made for a new challenge, a new thrill.

"Well now I did say they were friends, didn't I?"
Still, she had to wonder where they were finding some of these people. When picking a team there were a lot of factors to consider, not the least of which being reliability, loyalty and the like. As far as she could tell Heaven's insight failed to a lign with that more often than not. Which didn't exactly inspire a lot of faith in her. Not that they deserved it anyway.

"Huh," is all he has to offer at first, though he's watching her as he idly bounces one of his feet. He isn't just looking. Despite the obvious physical stress and how his thoughts seem to want to scatter, there's something calculating about his yellow-eyed gaze. He's weighing her. "Asymptotic taste. Close, but not enough to count."
no subject
She's used to the scrutiny though, enough that it leaves her pretty unflappable along with unimpressed. But that didn't mean she wasn't also watching in her own way. There was still something curious about him, beneath the veil of try hard, a somewhat unique quality she only puts her finger on it with his final comment.
She crosses her arms and cocks her head. Time to put those engineering skills to use in what is quite possibly the most bizarre manner she could ever imagine. "You could say my ability to give a shit is logarithmic. Increasing less with every second."
no subject
"It's natural, but I've got time." He stills somewhat when given something to focus on that really matters. "Who gives a digit if it's 8.2, 11.4, or 13.3?"
An hour, a day, or a week.
Or, rather, those after rounding the result from taking the natural log of their respective values in seconds. He's happy to extract more meaning from her quip than might ever be intended, and he'll have fun with it even if most people ultimately can't keep up.
no subject
Huh. Okay maybe she was interested. At least enough to designate him as someone to keep an eye on. There's not much to give it away. Only a subtle shift in her posture and, for those that know her better, the way she folds her hands together instead.

He leans back and stares up at the sky. Bringing up a hand in front of his face, he inspects a patch of blight, distracted. "Negative'd be okay, too. Just as long as the rate of change isn't zero, I can dig it."
no subject
She can't ignore the blight though. She's seen it on a few of the gods now, and while it didn't look particularly alarming, it was something new and that meant it warranted attention. "So is that part of the equation?" Man, this was kind of tiring though.
no subject
"Deterministic isn't always predictable." A key tenant in chaos theory, and in his own life. "But this is corrupting the data. Bet you it'll trash any calculation."
no subject
"Corrupting?" Her fingers twitch. She'd like to grab him for a closer look but you didn't need even a fraction of her training to know you didn't pet strange dogs. "You sure you're not just laying on the theatrics now?" Because if he'd proven anything to her thus far, it was penchant for such things.
no subject
Maybe it really is the exhaustion. He's getting a little too giddy, and he knows it.
"Nah, this is my domain." He's not particularly offended, too confident in his own knowledge on this subject. "If you don't reconstruct your code before it goes unrecoverable, you're zetta boned." A brief pause. "I wonder how long that takes..."
no subject
"You sound right at home." She muses more to herself. And then to him, "So you intend to find out?
