003 | Save The Boats
Who: Everyone!
What: It's a few days after Hinamatsuri - time for a party!
When: Late evening (March 5, 2016) into early morning (March 6, 2016)
Where: The banks of the Kamo River
Summary: The Heavens have thrown together an outdoor party to celebrate Spring and ALSO to ask the Far Shore residents to keep the boats from Hinamatsuri from coming to shore.

Hinamatsuri is celebrated in Japan on March 3 every year. It is a festival to celebrate all of the young girls of Japan, not as important as their own birthdays, but certainly a big day for all families with a little girl among their household. It's perfectly normal for all of the cuties to dress up and get all sorts of delightful treats out of the day.
One of the normal festivities is a ceremony during which ornamental dolls are placed on tiers on boats and floated down the river. It is thought that all of the bad luck for the coming year floats down the river with the dolls, taking that bad luck away from their young girls to keep them safe for another year.
But the boats don't always make it all the way down the river like they're supposed to, and the Heavens sometimes like to make sure that the year will be full of less bad luck for the people of Japan. So they have decided to have the almighty gods do some legwork and disguised it as a fun Springtime party! They expect gods and shinki alike to push the boats away from the shoreline wherever they see them venturing near.
New gods and shinki will have been ushered immediately to the party as well, given all of the normal information, and then left to mingle among their new cohorts. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce the newbies to both their co-workers and the kinds of jobs they'll be expected to perform.

Buffet
A luxurious buffet is set up for everyone to enjoy. There are all kinds of foods to enjoy, though they all seem to be of a local variety. The Heavens have apparently used the funding from their own temples to purchase local food and support local businesses at the same time. In particular among the food and copious amounts of booze, you will find some Hinamatsuri staples - hina-arare, hishi mochi, chirashizushi, and a salt-based clam soup called ushijiru. Among the booze you'll find shirozake, a sake made from fermented rice, also a regular fare of Hinamatsuri.
The Boats
As if they are literally overflowing with bad luck, the boats seem to be making a desperate attempt to land themselves upon the shoreline. They are reluctant to make their way back into the water and will gladly run people down if they're allowed to and are happy to ram into someone over and over again to try and get their way. When they are finally pushed back to the center of the river, they will begrudgingly continue on their way. Of course, some of them will simply sink because of the weight of all that bad luck, but who can really blame them.
Children
As expected of a day dedicated to celebrating children, there are dozens of children running around and playing games during the festivities. It's hard to distinguish, but some of them appear to be human children while others are shinki. They are happy to let anyone in on their games and will gladly bother adults to come play with them or to let them try some of the liquor. (Mods will be available to play out any child interactions you may want, just flag us down.)
Counselling
Off to the side, there is a tiny table set up with a small, nicely written sign that reads "Gentle Counselling". On the other side of the table is a sweetly smiling shinki who is willing to listen to your problems and answer any questions you might have. She is also here to help out any gods that are having a hard time dealing with knowing about how their shinki died and any shinki that is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that they are dead.

My name is not Kumo, it is Hibari Kyoya, and if I find you are lying, I WILL KILL YOU.
no subject
And even if it means he's probably going to have to immediately try to duck to avoid getting hit, he's not about to go back on his word. So he holds out his shinki and says the magic words.]
Hibari Kyoya, return please.
[Now to see how much Hibari is going to try to make him regret this whole series of decisions he's made these past few minutes.]
no subject
And he didn't waste any time once he got that human feeling back because he was already rushing at Ren, a blindingly fast punch directly to his face.]
no subject
Once upon a time, right after they became friends, Tetsu did try to teach him to defend himself the same way Ren had brought Tetsu into Vanguard. And while that effort had last maybe an hour because Ren didn't care for it and so he made it far too difficult for Tetsu to keep trying...
He does remember one thing from back then, which was to roll with the punch if possible. Which, in his usual fashion, results in him rolling with it into a full body twirl and then staggering off to the side.
What Tetsu hadn't told him was how much it hurt. Tetsu had made it seem easy, beating up eight guys and walking away with some bruises on his face. Ren has no idea how Tetsu could have thought this was fun for so long (granted, he hadn't like that fight with eight guys much, but still). It isn't even the fun sort of pain he and Aichi dealt each other through Psyqualia. This is just disorienting and awful and he's very glad his hair can shield the way he winces as he touches his face.
And whether he deserved it or not (he did), he's also very sure he doesn't want to let that happen again and also that Hibari probably isn't done yet.]
...Don't do that again.
no subject
It felt like a mistake. Even if he didn't know that, all of his emotional turmoil and anger was being communicated back to his god as he swung another fist.]
no subject
But it's also familiar and associated with a part of his life that he doesn't like, so working past it hasn't been such a big deal. It's that association that saves Hibari for the moment too, because as soon as he opens his mouth to say it, he's hit with another wave of that stupidly familiar feeling that he dislikes and shuts his mouth.
He still has to duck out of the way, because stopping himself definitely didn't stop Hibari, but this time he has enough warning that can do that.]
I don't want to force you, Kyoya-kun.
i never thought a hibari tag would hurt me
And there was a tide of emotions coming from him as his expression changed from the normal blank anger it always was, as a small seed appeared that was passed on before the cloud guardian charged forward-
fear.
fear-
He was disgusted. He was afraid.]
Don't you dare.
[Hibari growled as he swung another blow.]
no subject
But he's feeling it anyway, and when he watches Hibari run at him, it finally clicks. And it's a startling enough revelation that he isn't able to dodge in time but has to throw his arms up in front of his face instead. Hibari can hit those all he wants; he doesn't care.
They're Hibari's emotions. They probably have been the whole time. In fact, now that he's thought of it, it seems silly that he hadn't realized it before, given how he's been feeling all evening...although it had all been both so disconnected to how he was feeling and generally familiar otherwise that maybe it wasn't so odd that he hadn't recognized it for what it was.
...Hibari is that afraid of his threat. He doesn't like that. He still doesn't regret forcing him into that form in the first place, but he already wasn't keen on doing it again and now that he's realized he can feel just how much Hibari hated it...
Unfortunately, there is still the problem of Hibari attacking him and his not having much in the way of other options to get him to stop.]
Then stop hitting me!
im sorRY
His fist had slammed into Ren's arms, probably leaving a big bruise, but it didn't satisfy the emotions suddenly screaming within him. It was like it all cascaded down at once, with the realization of just what he was and just what Ren could do to him.
That's why he was barely listening to his god's protests and instead swumg his leg around to kick Ren flat in the chest.]
meee too
With his arms in the way and the distraction of trying to decide what to do, Ren doesn't see the attack coming until Hibari's foot is already slamming into his chest. He stumbles backward a few steps before finally falling back on his butt, coughing. Admittedly, that wasn't quite as bad as getting punched in the face, but it wasn't pleasant either.
And now he can't afford to hesitate, because there's no way he'll be able to get up again before Hibari's on top of him. He did give Hibari a warning, so he can't feel too bad about this.]
Kumoki!
[He really needs to come up with a better way to get Hibari to stop hitting him, though. This is not going to work long term.]
;-;
There were no words or anything for his feelings. He sat there in silence for a moment before the anger, fear and disgust returned in waves twice as strong as before. Hibari didn't even want to say anything at this point. Trapped as he was, in a pair of innocent looking tonfas.]
no subject
But there's only so much of it he can take--or that he wants to take; he doesn't like that Hibari is so upset, especially since a large part of it is his fault--so eventually he sighs and carefully cradles the tonfas in his lap where it's easier to speak with him.]
Please calm down, Kyoya-kun...
no subject
The anxiety hadn't died down in his soul, but right now the resentment and anger had taken the forefront of his mind.]
You, being the one to tell me to calm down? You must have a death wish to bind me in place like this.
no subject
I'm sorry. I don't want to. But I want to be able to talk to you, and I really needed you to stop attacking me.
[He just barely stops himself from letting out a short laugh and smiles bitterly instead.]
Once was fine. I deserved that. But I don't want to fight you that way any more than that.
no subject
Talk to me? I'll kill you. How dare you look down on me in this manner.
[Weren't gods holy and rightous beings? And yet they did things like this to him...Ha, deserving it. It made Hibari angry that he couldn't do more, at this rate.
And he couldn't make the fear completely go away.]
no subject
If you think I'm looking down on you, then I'm sorry for that too.
[But there's probably nothing he can say that will convince hibari otherwise, especially since anything else he's coming up with has an edge to it. this next comment is going to be bad enough.]
If you don't want to talk, then we don't have to. But I'm not going to turn you back again until you've calmed down a little.
[Honestly, there's nothing he'd like more than to turn Hibari back, especially if it'll make the turning in his gut go away, but it had been a disaster last time and they would just be right back there where they'd started.]
no subject
Ren wasn't exactly torturing him, was he? Hibari had to admit that much, but he still had placed him in this situation which was almost just as bad. Hibari had nothing more to say.
He struggled futily, but nothing happened. He was just a pair of tonfa now. The gods must surely be laughing at him now, thinking turning him into a pair of his beloved weapons would be funny.
Hibari loved to fight, he was a weapon in himself-but to be a tool for another person was terrible. Partners....had he worked before with others? He hated it but...
Ren could feel what he could feel. He could tell Hibari was panicking. He could tell he was weak he could tell he was weak HE COULD TELL
Suddenly there seemed to be absolutely nothing from Hibari at all-whether this was more terrifying than feeling everything, it was up to Ren to decide.]
no subject
If nothing else, it's a good opportunity to sort through what he's feeling and what is probably coming from Hibari. And to just get used to the idea that he could feel what Hibari was feeling in general. He isn't sure he likes that much, having that much knowledge of Hibari's feelings or that they affected him like this.
It would be a little funny to Ren if he knew that Hibari thinks he's the one in control here, because between this and needing a shinki to fight effectively, Ren certainly doesn't think so.
And then it's all gone. Suddenly he feels better than he has for hours, and it's alarming. Ren immediately goes on the alert, staring down at the tonfa in his lap like he might be able to see some sign of what happened if he looks long enough]
Kyoya-kun? Are you all right?
no subject
Hibari just closed further off. If Ren could feel what he felt, then Hibari would just feel nothing. It had worked for his entire life, and he wasn't going to let someone catch him now.
This dark world was easy to go into this sort of trance.]
will hibari ever be in vessel form for more than five tags? stay turned...
In which case, leaving him this way is a really bad idea. But even so, Ren hesitates for a moment, because he has no idea if Hibari is going to try to hit him again and he won't be able to do this to him again tonight. Doing it this time had been hard enough.
...So maybe he can come up with something else., because this had obviously been a really bad idea.]
Hibari Kyoya, I'm sorry, I knew you didn't like this but I didn't realize how much it bothered you. I didn't want to hurt you...
when he starts fighting definitely
Not as a pair of tonfas. The last words that Ren continued to say as he was now in human form disgusted him even further, trying to worm their way into his cold, dead shell. Didn't want to hurt him? That's why Ren manipulated him like this in the first place. He's the one who took Hibari and turned him into a tool against his will. He was the one he was bound to in the first place, the one who could peer into his mind and see everything that Hibari wanted to keep a secret-
He wanted to do everything and nothing at once, but for the moment, he didn't move, hoping Ren would get the hint and leave.]
no subject
So Ren just sits there for a moment, before he finally sighs and looks away.]
I'm going to go get some food, and then I'm going home. I'd like it if you came with me so I can show you where it is and how to get there. I guess you don't have to stay there, but i don't think you'll find it very easy to stay anywhere here...
no subject
It was strange, he finally managed to kickstart his emotions and they came back in pieces, the anger and resentment the most.
But it did get him to finally sit up and fix his shirt, his outward appearance like nothing ever happened.]
Don't ever talk about this, or I'll kill you.
[His voice was startlingly flat, but his eyes had the wild fire.]
no subject
And Hibari's going to have to come up with a better threat than that soon, because Ren is just as unfazed by it as he ever was.]
I know.
[Ren carefully pushes himself to his feet, wincing again at the sudden change in altitude causes his injuries to throb, and after a moment of hesitation, holds a hand outto help Hibari up to. If he decides to take it. Which Ren figures he won't, but he's still going to offer.]
You never answered my question, you know. Have you had anything to eat yet?
no subject
How could he deal with this? He wasn't one for mental torture or manipulation, preferring just to beat his opponents instead of playing mind games, but this was wrong on some many levels.
But....
Hibari glared at the proffered hand and slapped it away before pulling himself up with as much dignity as he could manage. Ren even had to be taller than him, which was the final nail in the proverbial coffin.]
Leave me alone.
[And Hibari turned to walk away and avoid Ren for as long as he could.]
