Even if it's minute, the fact he relaxes is a relief to him, too. This is a stressful situation, and he'd been coughing so badly, it was really worrying him. This, this is much better, and gives him some hope for finding the other god somewhere amidst all this. So he doesn't let go of Souji, giving his hand another squeeze and letting the other move to between his shoulders. Support and reassurance. ]

He sounds like a good person. [ Keep talking about this, make everything normal. ] And shouldn't be hard to find - my uncle is like that. You'd be able to spot him anywhere in a chaotic area, bringing everyone in and keeping things together.

[There, now he's even managing to smile, nodding in agreement.]

Some people are just meant to- [The instinct to try to suppress another cough rather than allow it to happen is so ingrained, he doesn't even think about it.] -to lead others and look after them.

[He's starting to look around as well, although in the chaos of people running around, and the smoke, and the blazing trees, he realizes that he probably won't find Hijikata immediately.]

[ There, that's a lot better. Even if he's unsure about the way he falters. Is it better or worse to cough? Souji's not sure he can say, and he isn't qualified to advise beyond what he has. But he'll do what he can, to make sure that he's safe until he gets to his god.

He's rather like Hijikata and Dojima both in that regard, not that he thinks it. ]

The kind of people who hold things together in times like this are always admirable.

[He gives the younger man a slightly pointed look to go with that statement, his smile quirking just slightly, teasing.

There are people running about everywhere, some with a clear sense of purpose, some in definite panic. But Hijikata wouldn't be running, he thinks, not unless he had to. He's definitely the kind of man who would direct others as they run.

Letting out an amused little huff, he raises his eyebrows a bit at that name.] Ah, I would say that it's a nice name, but I think that would make me a bit conceited at least. I'm Okita Souji.

[ Ducking his head a little with the look, he shakes it afterwards, though his expression when he looks up under the fringe of his bangs is merely sheepish. ] It's worth trying to do what I can.

[ But Souji lifts his gaze properly again, refocusing on the task at hand. Someone who looks to be in command of things, someone of the description that he was given... There's a lot of people here, but he thinks that they should be able to find him, hopefully.

Although, that certainly catches him off guard, and he actually manages a soft laugh of his own. He does register the historical weight of the name, but he opts to not focus on it - it's something his gut tells him to avoid. ] Really?
