[ Even if they make it back to their world, their China, it's not like they're ever going to see their Chang'an again. Gojyo's known that from the first day they started out on their roadtrip, and while he doesn't regret a day of it (maybe a couple hours here and there), it would have been nice to walk the marketplace with Hakkai again. Get lunch at Chao's noodles and sneak a beer from Kenny's, then the walk back along the dry creekbed to their shabby little house.

But somebody else is probably already living in it, and Kenny's beer was always watered down anyway. You can't ever go back, he tells himself, and pushes the thought away.
]

Whatever they've got planned for us at th'party hasn't happened yet. [ There's no way that everyone getting falling-down drunk on flower petals was the end game for the day, not with the way their luck goes. ] I want to head back. ...Preferably upwind.

[ He's got a dim recollection of saying things to Hakkai under those trees that he really shouldn't have said, and there's no way he's going to risk a repeat of that performance. ]

I'll drop you wherever you want to go first, though. [ A quick teleport to Japan, and his temple in the bathroom corridor of a Greek restaurant, and then back to the Far Shore, and anywhere Hakkai wants to be. ]

I'll come with you. [His answer is instant. If there is something planned at the party, he's not leaving Gojyo alone to see what it is. Well -- not necessarily alone. But unarmed, at least.

There's no problem as long as they're both upwind, is there? Under the trees might be a little more of a problem. There's a part of him that's disappointed that he's sobering up enough to be sensible, but it's outvoted by the parts of him that are, in fact, sensible.

It's his responsibility as a shinki to support Gojyo. As a person... maybe the attraction he feels is only there because relying on someone who knows who he is is as close as he can safely come to knowing himself. Maybe it's not only that. But he's not going to jump into anything when he doesn't remember and he knows how desperately he's looking for something to cling to.

Besides, he's already starting to remember. It's only a matter of time before he can be sure.

And it's not as though there aren't a thousand more important things to worry about in the meantime.]

But upwind, yes.

[He holds out his hand, palm up. They'll need to be touching to teleport.]
