Oh dear, I shouldn't have mentioned it, should I... performing really isn't my kind of thing either. I'm just a teacher.

[He's not so sure about the youkai part; he seems pretty human to Izumo, but who knows.

Math, writing... although I'm just tutoring a few students at the moment.

There are so many children here that it seems a shame to let them go without an education, doesn't it?

[Izumo gives a soft laugh at that.]

Indeed. It's always best for the children to keep getting an education.

It's fortunate then that you're a willing teacher.

It's something I seem to be comfortable with! Ha ha, I was lucky -- I learned that because my goddess was a teacher herself.

[He chuckles lightly.]

Otherwise, I still might not know.

[He smiles.]

But at least the children here have someone to still give them some form of education in this place.

[He falls silent for a moment, glancing away with a small smile.]

Well, they'll still need their education even if they're shinki now! It's very useful.

[Apparently on more secure ground, he offers Izumo a nod.]

Where do you teach?

At the moment, I'm only tutoring out of my current god's home.

[He smiles ruefully.] Perhaps if we find a place to hold classes, I'll set up something there!

[Huh, that's. Actually a bit upsetting, especially since Izumo has been noticing how often Hakkai's expression keeps shifting.]

If you ever need some help, I'm willing to lend a hand. [In trying to find a proper place to teach, that is.]

[Cherry blossom drunkenness is terrible, embarrassing, and causing him to give away much more than he'd normally let anywhere near his features. He's not looking at Izumo at the moment, though, so he's not noticing that sympathetic look.

It's probably for the best. He laughs, keeping his voice light.]

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind! We'll have to find a new place at some point. It's hard to know what we can trust not to disappear.

That is rather concerning. It's just a bit more relieving to have a place that'll stand even when someone else disappears.

Yes, it is, isn't it? I wonder if any of the abandoned temples would do... of course, it would be a lot of work cleaning them out!

Perhaps someplace on the Near Shore, instead.

Making the effort to clean it up makes a good character, really. Why invest in something if you don't bother cleaning it up first?

[He glances at him.]

If you do decide to go searching on the Near Shore, mind if I tag along?

No, I don't think I'd mind.

[Hakkai's curious return glance lingers a little too long, almost crossing the line into suspicious. He's seemed friendly so far, but... well, maybe it's the flowers again, Hakkai thinks. He's not being careful enough, so he's feeling suspicious of everyone.]

I'm not sure it would be very interesting.

[Izumo's a decent guy, really.

But he sees that curious look lingering far too long to be considered just a passing one. Izumo smiles.]

Perhaps not, but it can never hurt to really explore, can it? I haven't really gone too near there.

I wouldn't mind the company! If it comes up, in any case.

[He laughs lightly and shifts, getting up to one knee. Yes, he thinks he's a little steadier on his own feet now.]

You should look around. The mortal world is a good place to visit.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

Of course, of course. And yes. Although there are a few more ayakashi there.

[And mortal humans can't notice them, of course, but Hakkai doesn't mind that. It's somewhat relaxing.]

Ayakashi... [He's not sure if he's ready to encounter any of them soon.] Interesting.

And dangerous. They can be blocked by borderlines, though, to give you enough time to run for a temple.

[His tone is absent, even a little drifting. The flowers must be getting to him again, he thinks, and recalls himself with an effort.]

Ah, I should go find my god. Come to think of it. I'll be sure to contact you before I start looking for a new school.

[He nods in return, almost forgetting himself enough for a bow, and turns to go.]
