[He waits and watches Makoto out of the corner of his eye, but when he finally responds he blinks... then gapes a bit. For one thing, sure, that seems like one big cruel joke for a guy like Makoto, but for another, that's actually a cool sounding god! Surely there's loads of powers and stuff associated with it!

Rin steps closer, the surprise (and maybe a bit of envy) evident on his face evident.]

The god of the sea? Nn, yeah, that would be appropriate for Haru, but I don't know if I'd trust him with that kind of responsibility...

[No offense, Haru.

At any rate, he sighs loudly as he brings his hands up to cross behind his head.]

Ahh, that sounds so cool though. Way better than being a dumb god of love.

[Makoto sort of agrees with a short hum and a nod. It's sort of true that Haru might have found it to be far too much effort to be a god and have to take care of a shinki and answer prayers and fight things called ayakashi and whatever else comes with being a god. He would have probably just ignored all of it.

Makoto lets out a slightly embarrassed chuckle at Rin's response. He did have to admit that it's pretty cool, but still stupidly ironic.

His eyebrows lift slowly.]

The god of love...?

[He blinks and tries to think of who that is in Greek mythology.]

...Aphrodite?!

[Given how Haru was acting the last time they spoke, Rin has every reason to believe Haru would be stagnant in Makoto's position, at least initially. He doesn't think poorly of him--he knows Haru's capable of many things if only he tries--but that's the reality of it, isn't it? He's always been independent. Always been free. Being a shinki-- He wonders how that will play out too.

At any rate, realizing what he said, Rin lowers his hands... then promptly bundles them up into fists at his sides towards Makoto's response. Dammit!]

N-no!!

[he shrieks, his face turning bright red.]

That's-- That's a girl!! I can't be her!!

[That's what worries Makoto as well. Being a shinki means being bound to someone and even if that someone is himself where he wouldn't make Haru really do anything he abhors, he's still...bound. A wandering spirit sounds more like him, but the danger associated with that outweighs that entirely.

He watches Rin's face turn a red color.]

I-I'm not sure! Maybe! That's the only god of love I know other than Benzaiten!

[Who is also a goddess of love in Japan.]

It's possible, right?! Poseidon's supposed to be older and have a beard and I don't have any of those things!

[That...not the point at all.]

[He turns even redder--if that's even possible--and as tempting as it is to raise his voice, somehow he manages to keep it in check... albeit it's still not very amused.]

[Come on, Makoto! What are you saying!? Some friend you are! And what are you even talking about with this whole beard logic?

Crossing his arms, he huffs then glances off. Ngh. Maybe he should have just told him earlier to bypass some of this embarrassment.]

... I'm supposed to be Eros. He's also a Greek god, but-- I guess he's still a little different from someone like Aphrodite.

[he shrieks, unafraid to get all up in Makoto's personal space.]

[A quick pause... and he tries kicking a few more times, his face beet red.]

[Makoto's face shifts into one of distress as Rin berates him with his knee. His voice borders on a whine.]

Riiiin! I didn't mean it like--

I-I wasn't thinking--

It might not be that bad.

[He lets out a soft huff from his nose. Rin is right and that's what he was thinking but he can't help language!

Time to try to shift the subject! Because he wouldn't know how to handle being the god of...love.]

Though...if we're both Greek gods, does that means we're sort of related now?

[He does settle down eventually, but he's still pouting and he's still not entirely happy! Really, it's not like there's anything he can do about it now... so maybe he shouldn't bother getting so worked up.

[He shakes his head.]

A-and anyway. Us being "gods" shouldn't even affect how we are normally, right? You, me and Haru-- We're still friends, you know.

[Makoto nods in reply then tilts his head a bit to the side thoughtfully.]

...That's true. I guess I don't understand everything that's different and everything that's the same. I don't feel much different and everyone is generally the same...

[He lets out a long sigh.]

But at least we're in this together.

[It's going to be difficult, he knows that much. And with little information to go on, he doubts they'll be able to function here without one or two major hiccups. But... yes. On the plus side, they do have each other, and for Rin that's the only thing he needs to continue moving.

With a nod, his expression softens.]

... I'll go see you and Haru soon. And--

[A small sigh]

--If you ever run into trouble, make sure you tell me, ok?

[I know you might try to handle things on your own. But don't. Just for now.]

[Makoto nods. He knows that right now he really shouldn't try to shoulder everything even if it's a bad habit of his. It would be far to heavy to carry on his own.]

I will. And you too, okay?

Yeah.

[He rubs the back of his neck, feeling a bit awkward to be talking about something so openly like this. Not to say he and Makoto have never not been open with each other. It's just... in this situation it feels different, maybe more sincere. But that aside,]

... Are you going to be sticking around here for much longer?
