[That is actually not a bad idea. And it's one he hadn't considered. Senri looks over at the boxes, as though trying to gauge from appearance alone which would be best.

After a moment, he moves forward and picks up the closest one. Then he retreats back away from the crowd. He seems pleased. Lunch grab was a success.]

[Lunch grab success seems to amuse Davesprite a little, though only for the focus of the movement on something as random as grabbing lunch.]

Don't leave me hanging, dude, let's see what you drew out of the lucky dip that is picnic box tetris.

[Senri doesn't know what tetris is, but at least understands that Davesprite wants to see the contents of the box. So he opens it....


Sandwiches. It looks to be a set of small tea sandwiches lined up in the box. A cursory sniff reveals that one of them involves jam, so that's where Senri is starting. Mmm, sweet....]

[That's a lot cuter than most of the boxes Davesprite's seen so far today, and he seems somewhat amused by the little lunch.]

Damn, someone gets full marks for adorable setting up that box. With all the sushi around I was wondering if they were harbouring some serious discrimination for the herbivores in our number.

[Herbivores? Oh... Yes, there are a number of birds who don't eat meat. After licking the jelly off his fingers, Senri sets down the box and goes back to get another one.

He sniffs several before selecting one and bringing it back. He didn't smell any meat in this one. He holds it out for Davesprite.]

[Davesprite isn't a herbivore himself, but hey, he's not going to turn down the offer of carefully selected food. Taking the little sandwich, he gives Senri a half-interested glance.]

Must have a pretty damn good nose to be able to scent out meat on a sandwich.

[Yes. He does have a pretty good sense of smell.]

Bear.

[That explains everything, right?]

[Davesprite blinks briefly behind his shades before he really comments on that, because wow, he obviously got the short end of the stick when it comes to showing his animal side.]

Wouldn't have called that one if you hadn't said it, fuck. I need to call my lawyer and demand compensation for this level of showing off my avian roots if there's people that lowkey about it.

[He's surprised. Senri had assumed that Davesprite wanted to show off his wings. That he was doing it on purpose. After all, he could certainly show off his anima if he wanted to.

After a moment, Senri raises his right hand and transforms his arm. Now that it's larger, furred, and ending in sharp claws Senri waves it at Davesprite. See? Bear.]

[Davesprite's reaction to the arm change is a pretty toned-down raise of the eyebrow, though after he gets over the brief moment of "well okay then" he leans in to get a better look at it.]

Yeah, okay, that makes a hell of a lot more sense when you pull that out to corroborate the story. Is this like a thing in your world, or don't you remember?

[Senri looks confused, then points a claw at one of Davesprite's wings. Isn't this a thing in his world too? He'd been assuming they were the same.]

[Under his shades, Davesprite's eyes flick towards his own wings briefly before he shakes his head. He doesn't remember much, but he has a deep-seated feeling of being an anomaly regardless of memories.]

Nah, sprites are a whole other can of worms. Or probably multiple cans of worms in various states of openness and general confusion. Point is, I'm pretty damn sure we're not the same kind of thing.

[Okay, he's skeptical. And there's no worms involved, in cans or otherwise. Senri still thinks that perhaps the basic facts are not being made clear here. So he points to himself.]

Bear.

[And then to Davesprite.]

Bird.

[See? They are both part animal. All other details, including why or how they got that way are irrelevant.]

[Well, he's not wrong about that part, and Davesprite raises his hands like he's trying to balance out both their sides here.]

Yeah, we're both part animal, so that's a thing, but unless you've found some skilful as fuck way to disguise being eye-blistering neon then I'm gonna say you aren't a sprite.

[At least, he's assuming being a sprite means being eye-blistering given his own example.]

Probably not hells of wise to track too long down that train of thought, anyway.

[No, he doesn't need to. Bears don't come in nearly as many bright colors as birds do. But why hide it anyway? Plenty of birds are colorful.]

The color is nice...

[That was meant to be encouraging. He agrees with not following this train of thought though. It's starting to give him a headache.]

[That's not the usual reaction to his brightness, though he can't say he's not getting used to it what with Hajime being a thing. Still, he can't help but quirk a brow.]

Hey, if your eyes aren't sensitive enough to sizzle at the sight of me then more power to you.

[Senri gently pats his good eye with one finger. Then shakes his head. Nope, not burning at all. He's okay.

Honestly he's not sure whether colors can really do that.]

[Right, literalness and figurativeness and the amount of people here who can't really tell the difference. Davesprite waves a talon briefly.]

Not seriously, more like the whole staring at a lightbulb for a minute leaving a bright shape in your vision thing if we're going with anything here.
