I'm ... [ He pauses thoughtfully. ] I don't know. Doing what I can for the ones I care about. [ Whether that's much of anything at all remains to be seen. ]

[ Konzen glances down at his palm, remembering the sensation when Goku's diadem materialized underneath it. No, he couldn't protect everyone. Only him. But for how long? He doesn't have the strength or knowledge to shield him from everything. ]

[ He glances back up at the man, who's turned out to be a more thoughtful than he might've appeared at first. ]

What did you do before they brought you here?

I've had a few jobs.

[Not sure exactly what this guy knows. And what he needs to know.]

I was a chef back home.

[Which makes that the easiest job to explain to people.]

Chef? [ That's a bit unexpected. Maybe he thought he was a warrior, given the way he spoke about protecting people and so on. ]

I was ... [ is there ever a simple way to describe his occupation? ] in administration. [ He probably looks like it too, given how slender and un-weathered he is. ]

[ That was a good question. Truthfully, he'd never asked himself such a thing before Goku. He falls silent, thoughtful. ]

It never occurred to me that there was something I could do. But I guess it's different, here.

There's something everyone can do. Just because you were stuck doing administrative work back home means jackshit here if there's none of it to do.

[ True enough; there's no admin work here, as far as Konzen knows. Though he still finds himself working around paper and stamps at the shop. (So he finds the smell of paper and ink comforting, okay?)

He blinks with some surprise at the man's question. It seems like such a random suggestion to a stranger, but Konzen's never been offered such a thing before. ]
