[Jae-Ha had started this morning out by heading over to the near shore and doing some shopping. He had to buy more clothes, first of all, for various reasons, and then there was something else he was interested in. So, by the time he comes back, he has a variety of bags slung over his arms.

He waits until most of it is taken care of and put away before moving to find the couch that Hazel's sitting on. His fingers are curled loosely into his palms, but his sleeves are long enough that this probably just seems normal as he moves over.]

Come here. [That's his greeting as he sits down next to him, holding his arms out expectantly for Hazel to sit up a bit more.]

[Too many kitchen fantasies!! He'll go put on Jae-Ha's shirt when he's done cooking, look forward to that instead.

But anyway, once he's through laying out what he'll need in roughly the order he'll need it (he thinks), it's... so much... There's so much work here.]

Oh, I'm feelin' somethin', alright. [blurgh] I'm already tired.

[But here, he'll start with... peeling Too Many potatoes. Mistakes were already made.]

[Jae-Ha chuckles at that, watching him peel all of these potatoes from the comfort of this chair. What a nice change this is.]

Don't act so old when you're so young. Your hard work will pay off in the end, so keep that in mind. It's also quite enjoyable for me to watch.

[This is the worst turnabout ever... Jae-Ha better love this feast of heart attack food he's about to be served. Hazel wiggles the peeler at him, pointedly.]

Beg pardon, but only one of us thought I was already pushin' 25. [someone elderly] I'm powerfully glad you're enjoyin' yourself.

[Like, the hair combed back also throws him off, but he'll keep that to himself. Ahh, he's so ready to be treated to Hazel cooking and being grumpy about it, and also the food that will come from it.]

Should I compliment you as you work? You seemed so embarrassed the last time I tried that.

[His hairstyle is great and fashionable, thanks. Potatoes, potatoes... one day he'll be able to move on and dump them into a pot to boil so he can move on to mac n cheese prep. This multitasking could in no way go wrong.]

Well, y'made it sound ridiculous. We don't need to talk about my peelin' technique.

It's hard to ignore such gentle hands.

[But a peeler is way less cute than a watering tin, so. His arms stay over the back of the chair even as he lifts his head.] I'd offer to help, but then it wouldn't truly be something you made on your own. I can't go and ruin it like that.

Actually, I'm a little worried that even my calm words will distract you. [Even when he's behaving!!]

That's why you're stayin' on your side.

[This as he wiggles a block of cheese at Jae-Ha, this time. Jae-Ha stays on his side of the counter and no one gets distracted and burns three different meals in creative ways. Perfect.]

Don't just sit there leavin' me with cheese and potatoes for entertainment, though. [Talk to him... he's not into cooking enough yet to not literally get bored while slicing cheese.]

My, you're so eager for gossip.

[Since that's all he ever has to talk about, he just assumes.] That rather violent man who shoved me into the hot springs tried to kick my leg, and assumed I was a robot. I meet so many interesting people thanks to the internet.

[THAT'S...... not the entertainment he had in mind. Jae-Ha, the internet is bad for you??]

A robot. [a fucking......] I'm beginnin' to think you're actually just unlucky, even without the internet.

[He just laughs.]

It's natural for strange people to flock to a beautiful monster. [Probably. It makes sense to him.] To be fair, I didn't actually want to fight much myself, so I antagonized him until he put in the effort for me.

Y'sure do have odd ways of makin' friends. Most importantly, didja win?

[Gosh, what do you take him for, Hazel?? Well, it's all perspective anyway, but he thinks he won.] But they were all too hot-headed for me. I don't think I could do it again...

[Aside from the practicing he promised to the cute small child, but that's different. He's making himself do that.] I was just able to confirm that the strength of this leg is incredible.

That must be the age talkin'. [Elderly. Everything about Jae-Ha is old except for his weird leg, confirmed.]

Don't ya ever meet people who aren't tryin' to kick ya around? [like...]

It's either that or the opposite direction. Occasionally, it's been both. [Like that One Date that wasn't a date. He hums a bit more, thinking.]

Oh, Tsuzuki is quite nice. The other dragons would never hurt me, either.

[The opposite direction... Well, Jae-Ha is ridiculously attractive, soooo. If Hazel were insecure he might be more bothered by this, but instead he hums and makes a mental note to get down with even more PDA. He's a little needy.]

Tsuzuki's gonna burn down his own house one of these days, it sounds like. [help the boy???] But when'm I gonna meet that one with the— what was it, the face?

[Dragon face...]

Eyes. [He's losing his mind thinking of Shin-ah with a dragon face... That's not beautiful at all.] I'd like to bring him over soon, but he's so terribly shy, even I haven't been able to get very close. We had a hug, once, but after that, it seems like he shies away any time I come close...

[Maybe because he wants to rip his mask off, but details.]

[Yeah it couldn't be at all because Jae-Ha is a little much... Hazel glances at him while considering this, but the one with the hand won't get close to him either, so maybe these kids are all just weird?? Maybe Jae-Ha is the most normal one.

That's a thought.

Meanwhile, cooking continues......]

So he doesn't have an attitude like the lil one? That's better than expected. [fuck that guy] I s'pose if ya get him past bein' shy, he's welcome to stop by.

Not at all. He seems like a child more than the others... He barely speaks. I have no idea what he must be thinking.

[Hmm, he lifts one of his arms to keep just the elbow on the chair, resting his chin on his palm.] I'll see if I can invite him over some time soon.

[Hazel is going to be Surprised when a huge guy with a mask shows up and not a tiny thing, like he is now picturing. "Seems like a child" is not a helpful descriptor...]

Is he just gonna sit there while we're talkin' around him?

[....okay that's kind of like Gat, so never mind.] That's fine.

He may, but he's very cute, I promise. There shouldn't be any rude comments, at the very least.

[Unlike some people...] I have been working on correcting that, by the way... There's no saying how well it's working.

[A cute, silent boy... Yes, that seems acceptable. Hazel will just give him crackers or something and talk to Jae-Ha the whole time, perfect. This is how socializing was always meant to be.

But as for the little one, god. He scoffs.] We've had enough rude comments around the house to last a lifetime, that's all I'm sayin'.

If I had known it would go like that, I would have told him you were shy, too.

[But the meeting happened... He's sorry.] Don't worry. We meet up enough outside of the temple. To be honest, I often wonder if I should speak to any of them much at all. My heart aches like I don't want to be apart from them, but I can't tell if it's my own feelings or not. With three of us as shinki, it's a dangerous thing.

[who else has Jae-Ha been spreading this lie to, he wonders,]

I haven't heard about that happenin' to anyone else. Nothin' more than a vague sense, y'know, not like what you've got with your lil pals. [Are there shinki rules about that, basically, that's the big question. It doesn't seem like anything has happened... and Jae-Ha has been here longer than he has, too. Hmm.] I can't help ya with that, I'm afraid.

I wouldn't ask you to decide for me even if you did have an idea. Don't worry, I'll choose one way or another.

[He'll just be careful in the meantime. Smiling from his spot on the chair, he tilts his head a little more to the side in his palm.] Let's see, what else could I tell you about... I've spent so much of my time with you, I feel like I'm out of stories.

[churchbelle]

[Hmm, is it appropriate to say "good luck" to something like this?? More like "please don't turn into a monster and probably kill us both," but they're having a good day and he doesn't want to think about that monster stuff right now.

So never mind all that.] Well, I'll be here.
