He digs at his throat obscuring the tattoo. The pain a welcome change to the raw hunger clawing at his throat making it impossible to even think! His stomach churns and his form convulses bringing him to his knees. His hands slam forward breaking the fall as his instincts single out the faint sound of a heart beating in the distance. He covers his ears to block out the sound but it doesn't go away!

Starvation.

It turned vampires mad. And Zero had been starving himself for far too long.

His body screams in agony, forcing his instincts to the surface as hunger grips him in its claws forcing his heart rate up, the sound mixing with the steady one in the distance. It was close. If he--

"Stop it!"

He grits his teeth and his breathing falls into ragged breaths. He's losing control. Beneath the blood and raw skin, his tattoo begins to glow and his eyes pulse a deep red. He's slipping, falling off the ledge of sanity and the monster lurking inside raises its head and tests the will that always kept it at bay, and for the first time it come away with a grin. The Hunter lost more than his memories, he lost his strength to defy it.

Time passes and his throat begins to heal while that beating heart echoes in his mind drawing the vampire toward the source, a wide grin marring its lips when its meal falls within its sights.

Izuku's voice is a relief. She's not safe but she feels safer instantly.

But the growl reverberates through the teeth in her neck and she can feel herself shaking. She doesn't want to be scared, she doesn't want to be helpless, but there's only so much somebody like her can do. She tries to pull away, but that only hurts. And she's starting to feel weaker, more tired. She's getting dizzy.

"Boss..."

Kido is in danger and he needs to get her to safety as quickly as he can. Can't rip her away without risking major damage to her neck and throat. Dangerous.

Vessel form, "Useruki!" He can't drink blood from an iPod, right? Plastic and metal mean she's at the very least safe from being completely drained.

The moment she changes he snatches her out of the air, holding on tight. "You alright?"

The second she disappears, his anger flares to life feeling the loss of her deep in his bones. Blood smears down his mouth, coating every inch of skin before he wipes at it, smearing it across his lips as the vampire comes back to awareness.

She doesn't answer at first. A glance at her screen would notice that her battery power is low. A good way to reflect her actual state. In her form now, though, she's more powerful than she was as a human. Without even a beat of hesitation, she kicks her power high--

And they're gone. Zero won't be able to see them, or hear them. Just... vanished.

"... I'll make it." She thinks anyway. She's already dead, it's not like she can get a blood transfusion here. And she's tired and she wants to rest. But the fact she's awake at all is a good sign. "Thanks, boss."

She's always getting into trouble, she feels like. And he's always there to get her out of it.

He looks at the screen properly, it's low. They need to get home where she's safe. He has a duty to both try and stop this vampire guy and to Kido's well being.

Kido first. "I've got you, Kido."

Red eyes narrow at their sudden departure but the vampire didn't chase after them, not when it suddenly caught the scent of another nearby. Her blood had calmed the hunger, but he wasn't nearly done. Licking the blood off his lips, Zero melted into the shadows, his focus already on the prey he caught in the wind.

She holds the breath she doesn't know she can even have as he leaves. She was afraid he'd attack Izuku, too.

She's so tired.

"... I know." It's soft. His hand feels safe. He does have her and this is fine. When she goes back to being human, she has to try to pretend she's okay. But for now... she doesn't have to do anything but be.

"I tried to fight him off. I don't think you can fight something like that..."

Knowing what he does about himself, he'd probably be okay. He's a much better fighter than Kido, and has considerably more training.

"... Maybe not, but you should still learn some self-defense." He'd feel a lot better about things if she knew at least enough to get away.

She tried to get away. She tried very hard. You didn't see how fast or strong he was. She goes quiet. Somehow this feels worse than being bitten.

"Sorry."

He didn't. She's a normal person other than her invisibility, and as far as he knows she doesn't have that kind of training.

There's the feedback loop of emotions looping back to him. "... Sorry. Let's go home."

"Please? I... I'm really tired." She feels like she could fall into bed and never get up.

He'll just teleport back. Walking is his preferred method, but with somebody apparently trying to drain the blood of Far Shore residents, this is considerably safer.

Yeah, please. That's smarter. When they're safely not in the crazy, upsetting outside world, Kido pipes up again.

"... Can you turn me back?" She didn't expect to be an iPod this long.

"Yeah," He was just worried, he doesn't know how fast that guy was and who knows if he'd follow them all the way back to the temple. Things he isn't going to say to Kido.

"Tsubomi Kido."

She staggers when she's back on her feet. She's paler than normal--which is kind of hard. Her face is a little ashen. She grabs for a wall. Her knees feel weak and she feels like she might be sick.

She doesn't want to depend on Deku. She's not sure he's too pleased about having to rescue her again. She doesn't want to lean on him any more than she has to.

He holds out a hand to steady her, but if she tries to pull away he'll let her. She's had a bad day, putting it incredibly lightly.

"... You should eat something." Whenever people donate blood they eat to help replenish it. It might help her stabilize at least a little bit.

She doesn't really have the strength to try to pull away. "I don't think I can keep anything down..."

It could just be the adrenaline after all that, but she doesn't want to eat and get sick and make herself worse. "You don't have to worry. I'll make it."

Then he'll keep his hand on her shoulder, letting her recover as much as she can for the moment.

... Even if she says not to worry, Izuku worries for her, for Shouto, for all of his friends. It seems like they don't do a very good job of keeping out of trouble. "I know you will." But he also believes in her ability to bounce back. She keeps on going, after all.

She nods weakly, but grimaces. When she touches the wound, her fingers come back with more blood on them. She cringes and just... slides down the wall, lifting a hand to her face.

"What kind of bullshit is this? A goddamn vampire..."

"I wish I knew." Why are the vampires in heaven? Since when? This is the first time something like this has happened, right?

"I'm sorry, I should've gotten there faster."

[blindfoldcode]

"No. I shouldn't've gone with him." Maybe if she hadn't tried to help, though, he would've just bitten her from the start. She would've never texted Deku. She'd be dead if he didn't show up. "... I couldn't do anything to stop him."

"There's no way you could have known, Kido. Don't blame yourself for this." It's not her fault. It's his for not being there sooner, maybe he could have done something more, maybe Kido wouldn't have been attacked.

But vampires? Nobody in this Japan has powers. He must have been pulled the same way they were.

She's quiet, eyes closing for a minute. How can she not blame herself? It's her fault. It's not like he's the reason she was out there.

She's dozing off before she blinks back. "... Does blood come out of clothes?" Because there's starting to be quite a bit soaking into her pullover's turtleneck.

"Um... I'm sure there must be a way. We can look it up." The internet's great for so much. He's sure somebody out there has figured out how to get rid of blood stains.

She pauses. Wiggles. Lifting her arms takes so much energy... Wiggles again. And eventually gets her hoodie and pullover over her head and off of her so she's down to a tank top.

She doesn't want to make it any worse.

They're the only things she has from her life. What if they're important to her?

She's really, really pale.

"Maybe after I sleep." She could probably just sleep right here if she tried.
