He digs at his throat obscuring the tattoo. The pain a welcome change to the raw hunger clawing at his throat making it impossible to even think! His stomach churns and his form convulses bringing him to his knees. His hands slam forward breaking the fall as his instincts single out the faint sound of a heart beating in the distance. He covers his ears to block out the sound but it doesn't go away!

Starvation.

It turned vampires mad. And Zero had been starving himself for far too long.

His body screams in agony, forcing his instincts to the surface as hunger grips him in its claws forcing his heart rate up, the sound mixing with the steady one in the distance. It was close. If he--

"Stop it!"

He grits his teeth and his breathing falls into ragged breaths. He's losing control. Beneath the blood and raw skin, his tattoo begins to glow and his eyes pulse a deep red. He's slipping, falling off the ledge of sanity and the monster lurking inside raises its head and tests the will that always kept it at bay, and for the first time it come away with a grin. The Hunter lost more than his memories, he lost his strength to defy it.

Time passes and his throat begins to heal while that beating heart echoes in his mind drawing the vampire toward the source, a wide grin marring its lips when its meal falls within its sights.

In his panic to escape, he'd made a mistake.

Overusing the rinnegan meant that he couldn't use his mangekyo sharingan, which meant that both his Susano and Amaterasu were out of commission. Relying on his sharingan alone was only useful for seeing, following, and avoiding attack, since his ability to use genjutsu was pretty weak and only good for minor distraction. Everything else required hand seals that he can't complete.

A glance behind him, and he sees it coming, but pivoting on his left foot to attack while protecting his blind spot only proves just how panicked he actually is - in keeping his left side away from Zero, it means he has to swing the right. With his left side closest to the building, the sudden sharp movement only succeeds in slamming his back against the wall... and boxing him in.

Goosebumps run down his arm as he slowly stalks inside, seeing his prey fall to his panic and box himself in. Excitement practically runs up his spine as he chase come to an end.

"Maybe I won't kill you." He steps closer. "When you're this fun." And disappears, using his speed to come to a standstill in front of him.

There's nowhere for him to run. The wall at his back, one side completely blind and the other the only way he could feasibly go being painfully obvious, he's trapped. Sorry I couldn't have been a better god, Keith. A silent apology to the shinki he'd ventured out without, who he hadn't bothered to take the time to get to know.

And yet... Focus the chakra on the end of his left arm, treat it as though it was his missing hand. Because it's basically a jab, there's no way he could actually hurt Zero with it, because he can't see to guide it, but he does have one more trick after all.

"I'm not done yet."

Chidori nagashi, a technique that uses his chakra to create an electrical current around his body. It's not something he can use to attack, but it's a decent defense in a pinch... unless someone's able and willing to take the shock.

Oh, he's willing. Caught in the blood-haze of his vampire instincts, the vampire doesn't think for his well-being but on the thrill of the hunt. The chase. The violent outbursts a monster like it bathed in. So when that lighting at his hand begins to spark, he ignores it in favor of grabbing him by the throat to slam him back. If the little god does hit him with it, it depends on its power just how much damage it'll do.

Zero doesn't have to worry about the attempted defensive move doing any damage. The moment he's slammed back against the wall, a sharp pain blossoming at the back of his head at it hits, the chakra fizzles out, leaving him drained and reeling from the impact. He's got nothing left to try, nothing left to fall back on. The most he can do now is try and hold Zero back, even if he's pretty sure it's all in vain.

The moment his chakra fizzles out, Zero grabs his collar and pulls it down, exposing his throat.

End game.

He doesn't bother with pretense, and quickly pins him in place as he sinks his teeth down, going deep.

Talk about deja vu. This is the second time in his life that he's been bitten like this, but the first time had only lasted a few moments. Something tells him this time won't be like that.

The pain makes him gasp, his hand pushing at Zero, trying to shove him away. Pulling at the man's hair in an attempt to make him break his hold. "Get off of me!" His voice is frantic, frightened. He isn't used to this -it's been a while since he was actually afraid for his life.

The struggles only make the blood taste sweeter and the vampire lets him keep his hope as he gulps down a mouthful letting it slide down his throat quelling the madness for a moment.

The wall scrapes his skin as he struggles against Zero's hold, the pain and blood loss making him feel a little more panicked as he fights to fend off the onset of lightheadedness. All the chakra in the world wouldn't be enough to help him if he passes out from blood loss.

Moving his hand to try and get it in Zero's face, he curls his fingers to claw at him, intent on digging nails into skin.

He pulls back immediately, eyes going blood red as blood slicks down his mouth and down his face where he'd been clawed.

"I told you eating me wasn't a good idea..."

But the moment Zero pulls back, it's like a second wind, and he doesn't hesitate in making another attempt at running again. He can feel it - he's almost at enough of a charge that he won't lose control of his rinnegan, but it's still not enough to use his mangekyo.

Ugh. He should've just set the guy on fire after the initial attempt and left it at that!

He's fast. Faster than most, making it easy to make it out sight within seconds. The loss of his prey has the vampire growing angry. Where before he had enjoyed the chase, now he was pissed.

Within seconds, the vampire was on his trail, the fresh blood in the air all the indication he needed. It didn't take long for him to find him again, and when he did, he pushed his speed to take him down before he escaped.
