Who: Kurama & Yuri
What: A date... And some accidental memory reading. As you do.
When: May 13, later in the day
Where: Movie theater somewhere /waves hand
Warnings: Uh. Well. Probably talks of suicide, violence, horror, etc. because of who kurama and yuri are as people. also heavy UST, probably.
[She should go home.
This was the thought that kept circling through her mind as she waited around for Kurama to show up--if he'd show up. What if he never showed up? What was she supposed to do if she was stood up? She supposed go to Hakkai and Gojyo's, because if there's one thing she can trust is there would be plenty of wine for her to drown her sorrows in if need be. Not that she was really the type to indulge in that kind of thing anyhow, but it's nice to have the option, right?
She turns away from the crowd to examine her reflection a moment, feeling incredibly silly. She'd dressed up, (in a dark, navy blue because light colors didn't really suit Yuri) which was a little weird enough for her, but even the light make-up she put on felt like overkill and it took all Yuri had to not start rubbing at her face to get it off.
This was stupid and she should go home. Could she fake sick? Was it too late to fake sick and become a hermit? Wait, no, Kurama knew where she lived and it would be just like him to show up with some kind of plant claiming it'd help her feel better or something. Still, that might be preferable...
She continues to frown at her reflection, turning her head this way and that to look at herself, pushing her hair behind her ears. Maybe an emergency would come up and Kurama just wouldn't show and she could put this off for longer.]

She really is a beautiful young woman, and with the low back of that dress and her neck exposed, Kurama thinks he might wind up having a lot of fun testing her psychic control today. He doesn't want to be too creepy, though, so rather than sidle up behind her Kurama stops a respectful distance from Yuri's side.] I hope I didn't keep you waiting long.
no subject
Kurama-- You're here. [Why did she sound do surprised?? She eyes him up and down and then hastily looks away, brushing more stray hair from her face that's escaped from where its been pulled up.]
Um. [Maybe going to Gojyo for advice would've been a good idea, she thinks, but she takes a deep breath and exhales slowly, forcing herself to be calm again] ...You look nice. [looking at his outfit and then her own, she makes an amused noise] We even ended up matching.
no subject
[How much time do they have until that, anyway? They might want to save some of the flirting for the theater.]
no subject
Her ears turn red at the compliment and she looks away; my those advertisements were interesting.] I can find a jacket to put on, if it'll be too much for you. [An innocent offer, just thinking of him, you know! She hides a smile and checks the time. Speaking of--] There's a movie starting in about 15 minutes that we can catch. [Yuri hesitates slightly, uncertain] Horror was still okay, right?
no subject
[He made a point of looking up movie theaters near where Yuri had asked to meet, so he has an idea of where they're probably going, but he doesn't mind letting her lead the way since she's steering everything else so far.]
no subject
She doesn't particularly consider herself a leader or anything, and she doesn't particularly feel comfortable making decisions, but it's nice to have had some things already planned out in her mind.]
I suppose, technically, we don't actually have to buy tickets or anything... [They could just slip in completely unnoticed, after all.]
no subject
Movie tickets do cost a lot these days. We might as well save ourselves the money and the clerks the trouble.
no subject
It had had good reviews and seemed interesting enough without diving into pure gorn for shock value--which worked better for Yuri. She saw enough violence as it was, thank you very much.]
You're a bad influence. [He had perfect opportunity to talk her out of her suggestion of mild criminal activities, and yet here they were.]
no subject
We should've brought in snacks stolen from a convenience store and made it a trifecta.
no subject
Ha-- Just how far are you planning on corrupting me? I take it back, you were right-- It's a good thing you aren't someone's shinki.
no subject
Looks like round two of Handsy Chicken is about to begin.] I wouldn't mind seeing how far that is, though.

She can't decide yet if the dress was a good idea or a bad one, but she doesn't push Kurama's arm off of her and in fact leans into the embrace. Unsure what to do with her own hands, she rests them on her lap, fingers playing with the hem of the dress.]
There are people around... [It's more a cautioned warning (just so that he's aware as if, somehow, he hadn't been before) and despite the fact that it was her who suggesting sneaking in anyhow because no one would be able to see them, the fact slips her mind in a moment of nervousness.
Of course, there's nothing off about a guy putting his arm around a girl in the movies or anything either and Yuri can't help but feel a little irritated with herself at how quickly her body responded to something so innocent. For a given value of innocent with Kurama.]
no subject
Then we'll watch the movie as planned and save the fun part for after. I have nothing but time. [Time and a nice view down the front of her dress. Sometimes it's really nice being tall.]
no subject
[But what part he's being terrible about--not continuing or making promises for 'after'--isn't clear. It takes her another few moments, but eventually she takes a breath and relaxes, watching the screen with only mild interest. When the lights dim she glances to him and then back to the screen, leaning in slightly to keep her voice low.]
The reviews said it was good, but supernatural horror is always a little hit or miss. [Like, really. Is that how people thought possessions worked? Please.] Try not to get too scared. [She says that but she's the one who's probably going to be jumping and falling for ever jump scare here]
no subject
Maybe five minutes in, Kurama begins to sweep his fingers idly over their portion of Yuri's waist--mostly deliberately--and leans in this time to offer his own commentary rather than a response.] If that man doesn't die, I'd be surprised.
no subject
She glances back at the screen and hums thoughtfully.] He's the most skeptical-- the skeptics almost always die. [A pause and she adds] Unless he's already dead. [But does Yuri really trust this movie to be that clever about it...]
no subject
Someone has to prove that the rules of the story are absolute. [His fingers keep moving against Yuri's side, recording over and over again the soft texture of the cloth beneath them.] He's not very likable, is he?
no subject
[Why do they all have to be assholes!!] Except the son. He's not so bad. It's.. hard when you can see things and no one believes you. [She speaks from experience after all. But it's said with a sort of quiet resignation and acceptance-- it happened, she's... not over it, but it's not like she can do anything about it, so. Whatever.
Yuri holds herself still, but every once in a while he brushes a ticklish spot that has her squirming a little in her seat or inhaling sharply. It's a nice distraction from both her own thoughts and the movie]
no subject
[He catches Yuri's tone, but goofing off at the back of a movie theater isn't the time or the place for emotional conversations about the past, so Kurama makes a note to ask about it later and continues on his current course, seeking out the ticklish spots with increasingly unerring accuracy.
Oh dear, the background music is changing. Something's probably about to happen.]
no subject
She squirms more and presses a hand to her mouth, leaning more heavier against him in an effort to escape the tickling. The amount of effort she's putting in to still paying attention to the screen is almost admirable in its stubbornness, but she's maybe concentrating a little too hard... There's definitely a jump scare coming up and she's definitely not prepared for it.
When it happens she totally jumps with a gasp along with half the theater, and there's a smattering of laughter afterwards as the tense situation diffuses]

On the screen there's some minor drama unrelated to the main horror conflict--something about the son's parents and a divorce or whatever. Yuri can't even remember or if it's something she actually should be paying attention to. They do seem to be trying to set up it might all be in the mother's head...[]

She straightens herself up some, trying to refocus her attention on the plot. Typical ghosts behind everything going on but the family stubbornly trying to blame each other or everything else Was this an American film? This seemed very American.]
And what kind of solution do you have in mind? [She's interested despite herself even if her tone is a touch suspicious.]
no subject
What? He has to make it a tough choice to keep them alert through the predictable parts!]
no subject
It's-- fine. [She trails off, mumbling in embarrassment before she forces herself to look away. Her hands smooth out the hem of her dress, laying flat against her legs as she takes a breath, attempting to calm herself. She can do this. She can totally deal with whatever Kurama throws her way.] I don't mind it. But it's hard to take the movie seriously when you're tickling me...
no subject
Unexpectedly, the mother starts to believe the son when he identifies the one who's been getting him in trouble in a photograph of a group of people, most of whom are dead. The father, however, remains doubtful.]
no subject
There's definitely something else going on behind the scenes in this movie; Yuri can't spot all the red herrings or fake outs, the deliberate camera angles and music are misleading and while Yuri has a couple different theories on how this'll play out, she can't be sure what's 'right.'
She leans forward a little in interest, completely missing the set up for another jump scare until it happens. She yelps quietly and jumps, instinctively pressing against Kurama as she tries to get a grip on her pounding heart.]
I was going to say I liked this movie so far, but I think I take it back. [Grumpy.]
