004 | Too Much Chocolate
Who: Everyone!
What: Passing out chocolates
When: All day March 15, 2016
Where: Throughout Japan
Summary: There is so much leftover chocolate from White Day that the Heavens have asked Far Shore residents to pass out the remaining candies to Near Shore residents.
Warnings: Content warning for: emetophobia and suicide mentions/ideation.

It is the day after White Day and, for some reason, there is a mass of chocolates left over. Oddly enough, these chocolates all appear to have been produced by the same small company: Fujisaki Confectioneries. The Heavens hate to see all of this chocolate that was meant to spread joy to the Near Shore go to waste, so they have asked residents of the Far Shore - specifically all you lovely gods and shinki - to go about Japan and pass out chocolates to unsuspecting humans, who will obviously be grateful for such a thoughtful gift, even from a stranger.
There are two problems, though, both stemming from the fact that the chocolates are 'cursed':
First, gods and shinki are prohibited from eating the chocolate and will face dire consequences if they indulge in the goodies, though the Heavens failed to mention what those consequences might be. Second, Near Shore residents are susceptible to the actual 'curse' that has been placed upon the chocolates, which turns out to actually be small ayakashi who want nothing more than to lead any Near Shore resident that they can to their death.
All gods and shinki have been tasked with this errand, including the group that have just arrived as of today. They will find themselves informed of their situation and then promptly handed a large box of chocolates and told to be on their way to pass them out.
Please remember: The only thing the Heavens have said to the gods and shinki is that they are to hand out chocolates and not eat any themselves. There is no IC information about the chocolates being 'cursed' and they seem like perfectly normal chocolates.

Chocolate Giving
Giving out chocolates might seem like a perfectly easy task, but the people of the Far Shore have always had a hard time being noticed by residents of the Near Shore. It might be difficult to catch someone's attention long enough to actually even pass them a bar of chocolate. In fact, you might have to resort to desperate measures, like stepping directly in front of them or grabbing their hand to stop them from continuing onward. How you catch their attention to give them their treat is entirely up to you, but most Near Shore residents don't particularly like being manhandled.
Dire Consequences
Unfortunately, some shinki and gods will likely give in to temptation and take a bite or more of the chocolates they've been given. Any Far Shore resident who eats the chocolates will find themselves suddenly and violently ill. They might come down with an instant fever, find that they can't control their bowels, or be overcome by intense and overwhelming nausea. The way that the sickness hits will be different for each person. Additionally, any shinki that eats the chocolate will find that they have stung their god, blighting themselves and their god in the process.
Ayakashi
The small ayakashi that were hiding out in the chocolate bars are freed the moment that a Near Shore resident takes a bite of the chocolate. These ayakashi may be small, but they are far from weak. As soon as they are free, they will take up residence on the shoulder of the person they are attached to and begin whispering ideas of death in their ears. All Near Shore residents under this influence will instantly find themselves too depressed to go on and will take immediate action to try and end their own suffering. It's best to kill the ayakashi quickly to stop the inevitable from happening.
Noisy Ayakashi
Oddly enough, some of the chocolate bars do not have the depressing ayakashi hanging out in them, but instead a different kind of ayakashi which seem to be completely alright with leaving the Near Shore residents alone. However, the moment that they lay eyes on a Far Shore resident - be it shinki or god - they will attack with a vicious fervor, obviously intending to do as much harm as possible. These Noisy ayakashi will range in size and shape from bugs all the way to small birds. Thank goodness they're not much larger, because they are harder and it seems they can only be taken down when solid teamwork is involved.

- Hope you have friends nearby to kill the Noisy ayakashi with
- Try not to let anyone die

Throughout the time everything seems befuddled. Sounds muffled, as though he's under water listening to sounds being made above the surface. Sounds like paper flipping, water swishing around, the creak of wood and even the quiet play of music in the background.
His breath is still a bit harsh and it hitches at the feel of the cloth against his head. Though in his sleep he mutters a few things; names, mostly, like Lailah, even Mikleo's a few times, and then a few other things- Maotelus, malevolence.. nothing that pieces together, however. Nothing that makes sense or goes together in coherent sentences.
Though he visibly relaxes whenever there's the feel of Mikleo's hand against his cheek, leaning into it subconsciously and breath easing. Sorey isn't sure how long exactly he's out until he eventually wakes and blinks slowly around. ] Where..?
[ ..Right. He's at the temple. His attention focuses gradually back on Mikleo and his voice croaks a little with use. ] Hey.
no subject
Well, at least it seems to be helping him. The worst of the fever seems to be finally breaking, but it might come back. Mikleo's hoping against that, now that he's finally getting Sorey's fever under control.
Once he hears Sorey speak up, he closes the Celestial Record and sets it aside. Mikleo walks over, smiling slightly.]
Hey. You're looking a bit better.
[Again, Mikleo puts the back of his hand against the god's cheek to check his temperature.]
How're you feeling?
no subject
[ The smile lifts to a weak grin, green eyes lighting just a little but he knows he's not completely out of the woods with this illness. ]
Mmm.. a lot better than before. Maybe soon I'll be able to get back on my feet. [ His body feels too sluggish and weak to get up right at this moment. He debates sitting up, but the hand against his cheek feels so cool- that familiar comfort that he sighs easily with a lean to it.
He can't explain why but it just.. feels really nice. That's probably a bit too weird though, huh? So with a light push he manages to sit up enough that doesn't dizzy himself too much. Not shortly after does his attention settle to the Celestial Record. ] Were you here reading the whole time?
no subject
The seraph takes his hand away, looking a little relieved at the statement.]
Possibly, but don't overdo it for a couple of days after you get better. The last thing you want is a rebound.
[Mikleo glances back to where he'd been sitting and reading the book.]
Of course. It's an interesting read, but it's out of date if that book is from the same place I am.
[He's 99% sure that it is. A lot of the names and places match up. Shame that Mikleo knows more about the history and general knowledge of the world he's from than he does about his life.]
no subject
[ A reassuring grin now, though it's hard to tell if he's saying it jokingly or serious. To be honest he doesn't really know if being a God affects that sorta thing. But, he does want to ease any worries that may be made about his state of health.
He glances briefly over to the book before blinking suddenly at Mikleo. So.. he knows that much..? He wants to say he's sure Mikleo is too, that so is Sorey. But his throat clogs up and he ends up coughing a bit in response.
Once he's able to get words out he does it slowly. ] Y, Yeah.. I wonder. A lot of it feels familiar to me but.. everything is a bit too hazy for me to be sure. [ A hand rubs at the back of his head, though his thoughts trail back to his earlier worries. ] Have you heard anything about the Near Shore..? [ He's still worried about what went down, and the fact that he's here instead. ]
no subject
[Either way, Mikleo's going to keep a careful eye on Sorey. He truly doesn't want the god to get sick again.
The seraph tilts his head at that.]
Hm...odd. Your memories should come back if they're only hazy, though. It might be best to let them come to you naturally than try to force it.
[Confusing feelings aside, he's glad that Sorey doesn't have total memory loss like Mikleo does. While the seraph needs to have some time to think about everything, he believes that he's going to accept his situation and focus instead on making new memories. It's a more productive use of his time and will benefit Sorey if he doesn't worry about his lost past. Probably.
Mikleo crosses his arms at the question.]
Only that the Heavens never knew about the ayakashi in the chocolate when they asked us to hand them out.
[His tone and expression are carefully netural. However, there are some small tells and an emotional sense that the water seraph doesn't entirely trust that.]
I haven't had a chance to check in on the situation. With the Heavens sending all gods and shinki to the Near Shore to pass out the chocolates, I'd imagine that it's well under control at this point.
no subject
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't think I'm in any rush to remember so- they'll come when they come. [ He's pretty optimistic about it. After all he at least remembers Mikleo was definitely there. It's hazy and sometimes it slips from his grasp last minute, but.. he'll remember eventually. What's more important is to help and answer prayers here as a newly God, right? He wants to be able to help anyone so it's easy to become his main focus and first priority. ]
Mmm... but, isn't that a little odd? [ His own arms cross, casting his gaze to the side with a focused furrow of his brows and thin press of lips. ] They said there would be consequences if we ate any, right? So they must have known I would've gotten sick if I ate any. So doesn't that mean something must have been wrong?
[ Then again.. maybe they just meant punishment for the Gods and or Shinki eating them instead? Maybe they didn't know about the ayakashi at all. He wants to have some belief that they may have not just known. ] Unless I'm getting punishment later for eating them.
[ Sorey really doesn't want to doubt Heaven and the officials- but it does seem a little too suspicious, doesn't it? He lowers his arms after with a glance back to his partner. ] Yeah.. I guess you're right. I wish I could see for myself. [ Maybe a quick peek won't hurt?? ]
no subject
Good, and I'm willing to listen if there are any you want to talk about. [Be it positive or negative. He might as well be an emotional support in addition to being Sorey's weapon, right? Granted...he kind of doubts that Sorey will ever treat him like a tool to be used. The god doesn't seem like that type of person.
The seraph nods, somehow not surprised by how observant Sorey is.]
There's not enough information to be sure, frankly. If you want my advice?
[Mikleo decides to ask permission for that. He can't assume that his advice will be welcome, despite the personality he's seen from Sorey so far and the trust he has for him.
A small smile appears on his face.]
Well, you're not, but I could go to the Near Shore myself and report back. I can at least make myself invisible.
no subject
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind Mikleo. [ He beams a little at that. But it wouldn't be fair if only Sorey did! ] You too, you can count on me for anything.
[ He'd want Mikleo to be able to rely on him too if needed. They're here to help each other, after all. ]
Of course. You don't really need to ask, you should just speak whatever is on your mind really. [ That's said a little sheepishly. Maybe some people might mind- but he'd want for Mikleo to speak his mind freely. Asking for permission is a bit much. ]
Hrmm.. [ There's a small look of worry. What if something happens and-- well, he has a feeling Mikleo can take care of himself. ] Alright, just.. be careful if you do.
no subject
Fair enough. [He won't argue that. Mikleo has no doubts that he may need to take him up on that offer in the future. The last thing he wants is to find out that corruption can still occur in this place and turn him into a hellion. Or a dragon, in the absolute worst case scenario.
He decides not to think about that too deeply at the moment. There's enough going on right now.
Mikleo covers a smile with a slight cough at that.]
Then my advice is to remain neutral with them. Learning where they got the chocolate from is a good first step, but there's a possibility that the evidence would've been destroyed to prevent being linked to what happened. Plus...I think it'd be best to step lightly.
[One of his hands rests against his hip, looking confident.]
Of course. I'll let you know when I leave. [Or leave a note if Sorey passes out by then.]
no subject
However, he's smiling after just to show he's going along with the teasing. It feels like something he's accustomed to really at this point. Though as he offers his advice does Sorey listen on intently with all of his attention. ] Hmmm, they said it was leftover chocolate from the month before, yeah?
[ That was all they said, however. That it was leftovers and nothing more. He nods after. Anything more could have been gone by now. ] No, I agree. We're here to help people after all in the end.
[ That's their job as God and shinki, so he plans to do just that. He nods again at that reassurance. ] Okay, thanks. I guess I'll just.. rest a bit more in the meantime. [ Though he looks uncertain about that. He'd like to already be back on his feet, really. But fortunately he settles back and relaxes for now. ]
no subject
Mikleo nods at the question.] Right. They've had plenty of time by now to cover their tracks.
[Again, the seraph nods, but he doesn't voice his opinion this time. Mikleo isn't so sure that they were brought here to help people. He has no proof, though, and it doesn't matter in the end. Either way, the two of them are going to help the people here.]
Well, at least now you've learned your lesson to not each chocolate given by someone you don't know.
[Another tease.]
But I can head out right now. It shouldn't take me too long to ascertain the situation.
[It's kind of a subtle way to ask Sorey's permission to leave.]
no subject
But at least that conversation is done with, concerning Heaven and their apparent plans and reasoning. He's sure Mikleo will greatly be someone he can rely and confide in concerning anything- especially anything that's on his mind, so he'll be sure to do so in case he ever seeks his advice on something.
Ah... yet another jab to his first mistake as a newly God. ] H,Hey, you can't really blame me! I bet you wanted a bite too!
[ Though ugh he feels a little queasy thinking about it now. A small inhale and exhale to let the moment wash over. However, he trusts Mikleo- he can't explain why, but he does- without any question. So he believes that Mikleo will come back as soon as he learns of what's going on. ]
Yeah.. sure. Stay low, alright? [ Which is basically stay safe, be careful- he wouldn't want for the shinki to get hurt in battle with Sorey unable to back him up with him confided to bed with this sickness. Maybe it should be thought the other way around (that Mikleo is suppose to be backing Sorey up instead) - but he feels more on equal grounds concerning Mikleo. That he's more there to help support and balance him rather than be used.
The thought of shinki being considered only weapons actually leaves a really bad taste in his mouth. He can't think that way at all. ] I'll try to wait up for you but, no promises. [ A small sheepish laugh. ]
no subject
[In other words: he totally would've taken a bite, but he's never admitting it so bluntly. He doesn't have a sweet tooth, damn it!
Mikleo nods at that and smiles slightly. Sorey putting so much trust in him so quickly and easily is...kind of terrifying in a way. He seriously hopes that he isn't quite this trusting to people he just meets.
On the other hand, the seraph wants to work hard to never betray that trust. He'll just have to make sure to look out for the people who will try to stab his pure of heart god in the back.]
Don't worry about it. You getting enough rest is more important.
[Mikleo takes a moment to fill a mug with clean, cold water and sets it on the nightstand close to Sorey. Then, he leaves the room to go scout out the Near Shore.]
