Everything was new, and somewhere deep in his gut he knew it shouldn't be. There was one fragment of this place he remembered-a school. There was a school, it was important and he needed to get there because THAT MAN had made him the disciplinary head.
But that was the only thing he could remember. Not where he was, or where it was, or who even the rest of the people he saw pass him. His encounter with his god gave him a bad taste in his mouth-he was a mere weapon and tool!-but he had to rush.
The school might be in danger if he was dead. Because he couldn't remember how he died. Hakkai would be there, and he could tell him what happened.
Hibari was lucky he remembered his own name. The only logical conclusion came that this is the second time he had died, and he was paranoid. It could happen again.
The next person the shinki saw was getting roughly accosted by a rather wild-looking Hibari. "Where is the school. Where is it?!"
B-closed to Hakkai
It was fairly late at night by the time Hibari had found his way to the school. He'd originally thought it had been its own structure, but was displeased to find out it was actually another god's temple. Unfortunately, it made sense, because he remembered Hakkai. Hakkai was a shinki like him and why WOULDN'T he be in his god's temple.
The Cloud Guardian was graceful as ever as he climbed into a window on the side of the building and started rifling through the rooms for anything familiar, almost hoping that Hakkai would actually notice.
C-closed to Ren
He was dying. Hibari could see the blood flowing out along with his life and after the screaming pain ripped through him, he quickly went numb. And after that, the world quickly went dark.
He couldn't die, not right now, like this-
It had almost seemed like a moment later that Hibari opened his eyes, clueless as to just what he had been dreaming about. Was it a dream? He couldn't remember anything. The only thing was the taste of pain on his breath and the indisputible fact that his name was Hibari Kyouya and he was DEAD.
Hibari shot up from where he was laying-inside a strange room he'd never seen before. Had someone kidnapped him here? What was this joke? He needed to find a way out, because....that's right, the school! He remembered the school. One piece of memory seemed to be floating around from the depths of the darkness he had rose out of...
Ren, if he was awake, would surely feel the rising surge of anger and panic that Hibari's heart was producing. This was not right-he didn't know where he was. He didn't know WHAT he was. And he had just died. Again.

"Oh, sorry." And then he obediently looks away to frown thoughtfully at the kitten at Hibari feet instead while he gets his thoughts together. there's something a little more important here than getting blighted, and that's keeping Hibari from getting killed again.
"...Well, i'd be lying if I said I didn't understand how you feel about this. I have an opponent of my own who I'd dearly like to see on his knees at my face after I crush him." Tooooo bad Link Joker has been neutralized and it would require hurting Kai again anyway. Some dreams were just never meant to be.
"I just want you to be smart about it. Keep in mind that it might have been a 'what' instead of a 'who', and that 'what' might have already been destroyed by someone else. And if it was a 'who' and you find out who it was, it would be stupid to go after them immediately. Train to become stronger first. Figure out what their weaknesses and strengths are. Go into battle with a clear mind and a plan to counter their skills. If you have to try again and again to take revenge, that wouldn't be very satisfying, would it?"
So yeah, all that talk about not fighting other gods that Hibari doesn't even remember? That's pretty much out the window now.

The story about Ren having a similar opponent did catch him by surprise-this 'god' of his didn't seem like one to be much of a fight or even to anger at all, though he'd only known the red-head for a few minutes now.
"You say that like it was not my plan already," he growled instead of saying anything else. He nudged the kitten gently away with his foot, pointing it towards Ren again, not wanting to deal with trying to not step on a cat underfoot.
It still brought him to another problem about their situation, and who exactly Ren was that had Hibari standing on guard. "And you say you are my god. I won't stand for you holding me back, even with your own revenge plot."
He was refusing to believe it was anything less than a person who killed him, Hibari Kyouya. His pride wouldn't take it.

He pauses as he thinks of something else...but this is probably as good a time as any to mention it. "Oh, and I guess I should mention that I don't have much experience with hand fighting or with the weapon you turn into, so that might hold you back too. But since you're already planning to take your time, we can just get stronger together."
This would normally be where he'd smile brightly at whoever he's talking to, but Hibari is a special case and he doesn't really feel like smiling like that right now anyway, so his smile is one that's much calmer than usual.

"I'm not gonna wait around for a useless fool like you to stop floundering-if you really propose all of this you're saying, being on my side, not holding me back, I'm not going to accept weak excuses like this. So far you've given me absolutely no faith in your or your believability other than these kittens."
The words were just sort of spilling out of Hibari's mouth, laced with his anger and confusion. He didn't know what to do at this point, and it was almost scary. He didn't trust this god. He was AFRAID.
Just who did all of these people think he was? Just what did they think they could make him do? He needed to find Hakkai. He remembered that man, the one who gave him a fight and his job as his most prided position and not this-
imposter?? god?? trickster??
Ren could definitely feel the next whirlwind of emotions that overtook the shinki's heart, more violently than usual. He was angry, confused, a little afraid, and the strangest of all-sad.
"I'm not your weapon."

But it is a little easier to hold himself back from deliberately aggravating the situation further when he focuses on what he's feeling coming from Hibari. More than anything, he hates that Hibari is so afraid--and that he doesn't really know how to fix it right now, except that aggravating him on purpose wouldn't do it.
And if he thinks about what he said just a few hours ago to Hakkai--that he was afraid Hibari was trying to make an enemy out everyone--
"I think you're just trying to find excuses to push me away so I won't try to get close to you. You were trying to do that before too, I think."
Ren sighs, looking a little sad to match the feeling in his chest. It's not going to work unless Hibari outright says he wants to leave and be someone else's shinki.
"I know you don't like it, but you are a weapon. You're a shinki, and shinki turn into weapons or other things that help us destroy the things we can't beat by ourselves. You can ask the other shinki if you don't want to believe me. You have a friend who's another shinki who might trust more than me.
"I really wish you would trust me though. I wouldn't lie to you about anything. Even if you don't like that we're teammates, it's really important to me."

All internal strife aside, what Ren had said struck a chord so deeply that he grew uncharacteristically angry. "SHUT UP!!"
His loud voice startled Tenryuu, who jolted away and woke Kishi out of his semi nap.
"Shut up, don't you DARE make assumptions about me like that. You disgust me and I do not like you. I refuse to accept you as something like a teammate when I didn't need one in the first place." At that point, he didn't even want to talk anymore, so Hibari just gripped onto Kishi and jumped.
He didn't want to fight for once, not with someone like that. As he jumped off the balcony to land on the floor below, Ren would be able to feel Hibari's fear and confusion spiked to unreasonable levels.

That angry and that afraid also means...Hibari's running away.
Well, Ren can't really blame him for that, and he's not going to try to stop him, but he can't help but feel a spike of worry since whatever killed Hibari is still out there somewhere and Hibari doesn't remember anything about where they are either.
"Wait! Where are you going?"
no subject
So the Cloud Guardian had taken hold of Kishi and was running. Running to the only place he knew anymore, the school, and deep in his mind, hoped that Hakkai could at least explain what the hell was going on.
Even without an answer, Ren would feel one last sting as Hibari regretted running away from something he wouldn't be able to fight.

And he can't really blame Hibari for that, since he's very much the same way. Most of the time. He'll do it if he has to, but he still doesn't like it much.
And he wouldn't like it if someone he didn't like came running after him after he ran away from something, so as much as he'd like to go and tell Hibari it's fine...maybe he should go make sure the remaining kittens aren't too shaken up by all that instead.
