A. [Izuku can be found in the library fairly often, after all, he's volunteered to take over, since there were suddenly far, far fewer of the library goblins than there used to be. Usually, he's near the front entrance, looking through books, scowling a bit and then putting them back.]

Have you seen anything about the history of the Heavens here?

B. [That's usually though. Sometimes he's sitting next to a stack of books and passed out instead. At least he's getting sleep somewhere.]

C. [He doesn't just keep to the Far Shore though. He's the one that goes out and gets groceries for his temple, so he can be found throughout the week considering the merits of branded or unbranded products.

With a lot of coupons. Look, just because they're hard to see doesn't mean he's going to walk out without legitimately paying for those groceries.]

What do you think of the unbranded bread?

D. [If, for whatever reason, you're at a beach. A very particular beach. A beach that seems to be covered in garbage- Izuku is there. Izuku is there and he's moving the garbage around like it's no problem. The garbage that includes carsh, heavy microwaves, refrigerators- he's not fussed.]

[Though the dead body in the store gets a passing grimace from Shun, he can't really afford to linger on it right now with how quickly they move on. Much like he doesn't have time to crab at Izuku for not just letting them kick the first door down.

Bus stops aren't exactly Shun's forte nowadays, but at Lavi's suggestion, he starts scanning the area around them. It's not exactly a surprise Ken lost the scent here, but he is right to say they have a shot at picking it up again.]

There might be a map or a timetable around here that says which buses come through here. That'll at least narrow it down so we can check the stops along those routes.

[This isn't the sort of thing he expects any of them are going to know off the top of their heads, but even if they only have a slim chance, they need to take it.]

[They need to find the culprit before they can worry about the dead person, but... there's still a sinking feeling in his gut.

He's not apologizing for kicking the door, it's faster to teleport.

There might be a map or timetable around, but there's also the far more reliable method of checking the times via his phone.]

There's a few different buses. We can teleport along each of their routes and see if the trail is on any of them.

[At a roadblock like this, Ken would normally consult with Chikusa to think of a solution. And, generally, he doesn't trust other people without a good reason. But Chikusa seems to trust these guys enough to let Ken go on without him, and they are presenting him with a solution to a problem that he hadn't considered...so, Ken supposes, they're functional enough substitutes. Plus the teleporting is handy.

He glances between the three of them. Maybe he'd better give them some kind of idea of what he needs...he might not trust them completely, but if not communicating with them means losing the killer, then he'll play nice.] We gotta hurry if I wanna still be able to follow the scent, byon. You can't see the blood anymore, and the more the air moves where this guy's been, the harder it'll be to follow a scent trail. So whatever you guys wanna do, we gotta do it fast, byon.

Teleporting it is then. Rather not waste time.

[He gives Izuku a nod. The faster they'd be able to find the guy, the better. Who knows how much of a headstart the murderer has gotten.]

By the time we even traced one route on foot, the scent would probably be gone. Teleporting is definitely a better idea.

[He nods to Izuku, since he's the one with the information about the stops.] I can step in if you need it, but you've got the information, so it might as well be you who takes us.

[As long as it's quick. Shun doesn't want to lose this guy either.]

Tell us if you get their scent.

[With everybody's approval, he'll start teleporting them along the bus route. The faster they can find the culprit the better.]

[At each stop on the route, Ken takes a minute or so to sniff the air - sometimes he moves a little to get a better scent. But he seems to be able to tell, fairly quickly and definitively, where their quarry hasn't been.

It's at the fourth stop where he sniffs and immediately stiffens, tail wagging with excitement.] I smell him, byon! [And this time, when he darts off in the direction the scent leads him, he pauses some distance away to look over his shoulder and make sure the others are following.

Apparently he's accepted the other three as partners in the chase, now that they've proven their value by assisting him.]

[Teleporting around really is one way of getting things done, but it's about the fourth stop that he notices Ken practically moving eagerly now.

So, when Ken declares that he's found the scent again, it's back to the chase as he follows after the other shinki and he gives Ken a nod when he glances back at them.]

[As soon as Ken picks up the scent again and starts moving, Shun breaks into a run to follow him. Whether he can actually keep up or not, he doesn't want to waste any time now that they've got the trail once more.

While he's paying attention to the area around them in case there's any obvious traces of their quarry, he doubts they're going to be that lucky, so he mainly keeps his focus ahead.]

[Izuku follows right behind Ken. He can keep up his pace, but he needs to keep following him.

He seriously doubts that the culprit left anything obvious lying around so his focus is entirely on Ken.]

[This leg of the journey, however...is very short. It's not much of a trip from the bus station to the train station, and they cover that ground in less than a minute. Ken skids to a stop at the station and sniffs the air, then gives the others a look that's both expectant and helpless.

He's done all he can do at this point; the ball's in their court again.]

...A train station.

[That's worse than a bus station.

Lavi looks a bit frustrated now, unsure of how to proceed from here since train stations can practically lead to anywhere. He glances over at Shun and Izuku.]

What now?

We find out what trains leave from this station and when. We can't be that far behind, there wouldn't have been more than one or two trains gone in that time.

[And then they can check stations from there. It's a longer haul than he'd like for a time-sensitive pursuit, but they really don't have a choice.

He gives Izuku a pointed glance, since he was the one who looked up the bus timetable already.]

[He'll pull out his phone and check the trains.]

There are only two trains, we just have to check those lines.

[So without anybody's approval, he'll just start teleporting them through again. They just don't have the time for him to wait.]

[This time, it's quite a few stops before Ken catches the scent again. He scours the station briefly before returning to the others, disheartened.] He was definitely here, byon...but his trail doesn't leave here. I think he got on a different train.

[He's starting to get worried. Their quarry's throwing more and more wrenches into the gears of this pursuit.]

[Lavi looks thoughtful, eye narrowed a bit as he runs over the possibilities in his head.

Two trains.

But he got on a different train and it's enough to throw Ken into a loop since it seems to simply end here. Somehow, a thought enters his mind and the thoughtful mask turns frustrated.]

You think he might be trying to leave the country?

Wouldn't surprise me. It's going to be much harder to find him if he gets that far, but if he heads to the airport and we can track the scent to a certain departure area, we should be able to figure out which city he lands in, at least.

[From there they might have more trouble, but it'll be a start for keeping track of him. Not to mention that even if he's left by now, it should be a good while until he lands, meaning an intercept at the other airport might be a possibility if they get that far.]

Let's focus on getting that far first.

[Izuku will pull open his phone again. There are twenty eight different airports in Japan... If they teleport they can check them all in an hour.]

Twenty eight airports in Japan. Four of them are widely international and several of them do domestic, Korea and China.

We can start with the international ones.

[But there must be so many people around. Who knows if Ken will manage to keep their scent? ... No reason not to try though.

He'll teleport them to the Narita Airport.]

[The challenge level to Ken has definitely jumped up several notches. There's thousands of scents now, of which he has to isolate just one - which may or may not be present - and the area is far larger than anything he's searched so far on top of that.

He begins trotting around the airport, sniffing the air constantly, searching for that one particular scent they've been following. Minutes pass without him seeming to have much luck...but the place is so damn big that he's not quite confident that means the guy didn't pass through here, so much as he hasn't gotten close enough to where he might have been to smell him.]

[Lavi looks around, a bit unsure himself.

Even he knows it's harder to properly track anyone if there are other scents around, but someone should be able to stand out. Not unless they've managed to miss the culprit somehow.]

[Shun's keeping a close eye out himself - he wouldn't be surprised if they've beaten the guy here, honestly, if he was restricted to public transport. But that's no reason to stop the search, and they can at least scope out the areas first.]

[Izuku's looking for somebody who still looks injured. But if they can teleport and their mark can't, then there's a good chance they've gotten here before them.]

[It takes a lot longer than at any of the other locations for Ken to check the airport thoroughly enough to be convinced that if the scent of their quarry was here, he'd definitely have been in range to pick it up. He sighs, crouching down dejectedly.] I don't smell him, byon. And checking places like this takes forever...

[There's a brief silence on Lavi's part before he breathes out, rubbing the back of his neck.]

This may be a bit out there, but what if we ended up coming here first? Since we're teleporting all over the place, we might have actually gotten here first, especially if we're sticking to the theory that our guy is a shinki and that means actually having to go through all the routes of getting to an airport.

[Shun nods at Lavi's guess, because he'd been thinking it himself as they got further and further through the airport.]

Not only are we teleporting, but he's badly injured. He might've had time for a quick patch-up job, but he wouldn't have been able to do any better than that with how close behind him we've been. And if he was a god, he could've just disappeared to wherever he damn well liked without leaving a trail at all. [In other words, it's more than likely they've beaten him to wherever he's going.]
