Misaki Why

Who: Fushimi, Yata, everyone at their temple, and anyone the idiot hothead punk would invite to a pizza-and-gaming 'party' for Fushimi.

What: Fushimi remembered his birthday is on November 7th. He told Yata.

[Fushimi actually went to sleep at a decent hour, so he's sprawled over their bed sound asleep when the sun is rising instead of grumbling about only getting two hours of sleep that night before the sun rose.]

General Shenans

[So after getting his "present" (a cat, really Misaki?) from his over-excited boyfriend (who also got himself a cat because Misaki is weak), Fushimi really doesn't know what to expect for the rest of the day.

What to expect is, apparently, pizza, games, and people he vaguely knows being invited to come over? What the fuck is this?

Still, Fushimi is going to be nice and be social for a few hours so Misaki doesn't sulk at him. Poke the birthday boy, poke people coming to poke the birthday boy, Chikusa you are not invited, Judar stop threatening the cats.]

[ He pauses in thought, only to finish drinking the bottle he'd opened up. ]

Nope. Pretty sure it wouldn't mean anything, even if I did.

[ That sounds really 'emo' (not that Judar knows what that means,) but he meant it in a very practical way. ]

What? Why not?

[ Yata rolls over on his back and tucks his hands behind his head to peer up at Judar. ]

Because I don't know shit about the holidays in this world and I had to learn what the months and days were after arriving.

[ That's kind of what happens when you're not from a Gregorian calendar system. Either because it was a different setting or you're from before that. ]

[ That has him blinking a moment, because that's the first time he's heard of something like this. ]

Huh. Really? Shit, I hadn't realized it was that far off. [ Because you pretty obviously came from a pretty strange place, Judar. ]

Well. Now that you are more familiar with it, maybe we can... I don't know, figure out the right birthday for you.

The 'right' birthday. That sounds really stupid.

[ You're born on a particular day, Yata. You don't just figure it out. ]

Well, look. You don't know when yours is, and from the sounds of it, even if you did, you wouldn't know how it matches up to dates here. So you gotta do something different, right?

[ Look, it makes sense to him. ]

It can't really be a birthday either way. We'll just say it doesn't exist.

[ Which, even if he had all his memories, would be an accurate statement. He never knew it when he was alive. ]

Instead we should just figure out when Izumo's is.

We can just ask Izumo. [ That's different. ] And if we don't have the day you were born, then maybe we can just match up your Astrology and pick something close enough.

[ For a little while, Judar just stares at Yata. ]

... I've been drinking and don't feel like looking up what astrology's supposed to be. Pretty sure it's not you being dumb about astronomy because that makes no sense.

You don't... Oh. Uh. Well. Astrology's different from astronomy but still connected, I guess. It's like.... tying astronomy to the calendar because I guess they figured out a long time ago that there are certain things that happen again and again when the stars are aligned a certain way. Which is how they made the calendar and started telling time and all that.

But some people took it further and figured out that how the stars are aligned in the sky when you're born can usually tell things about you as a person. How you think how you might react, stuff tied into that. There's different kinds, like what year you were born and stuff, but the ones most people use line up to the periods of time that equal about a month, so there's twelve of them and they're all named after one of the big constellations. Like Aries or Pisces or Leo, like that.

Most people look it up by their birthday, because that tells them which one they are, and then they can find out more stuff about it that way. But since you don't know your birthday, maybe you could do it backwards. Find the one that sounds most like you, which would narrow it down to at least a month or something, and then pick a day in that.

[ Okay, he's listening- not pointing out that he can figure out how calendars are made, because Yata's trying to sound smart and knowledgeable. Still, he's listening. Yet it goes even further about thinking that the stars decide on how you are as a person, and now deciding on which sounds most like him, and... ]

... This sounds really stupid.

[ He's going to grab one of the final leftover slices of pizza and more of that ale. ]

It just sounds like a reason to go through and say I'm like whatever sign is the one that has the worst people in it, or use more terms from this kind of world that I don't get. I'll stick with not having a birthday.

[ Now he just needs... ]

Where'd my glasses end up?

That's bullshit, there is no sign for the worst kind of people in it. [ Yata just rolls his eyes. ] They all have good points and bad points, just like people. Hell, you might even be...

[ He pauses, before sitting up and grabbing for his phone, typing in what he's searching for. ]

You know what? You might be a Scorpio, too.

[ It's not like he hasn't thought that Saru and Judar are way too much alike in some ways on more than one occasion now. ]

[ Okay Yata, you get distracted with your phone. He's going to look for those glasses. At least they're easy to tell the difference from Saru's, given that they're red, but that still means finding 'em. ]

Saying that doesn't mean anything to me. Why 'too'?

[ Ah, there they are. Right under the couch. They must've gotten kicked under there. ]

[ Yata just hums absently, still looking things up. ]

Saru's a Scorpio. And in some ways you two are eerily alike.

[ He'll let you decide whether to take that as an insult or a compliment. ]

Don't let him hear you say that.

[ Because you definitely aren't going to get any sex for a while if he finds out. ]

Don't start getting attracted to me, either. You're not my type.

[ Yata sputters and resists the urge to throw his phone at him, since that would be counterproductive. ]

That's not something you have to worry about!!

And I don't care if he hears me or not, that doesn't make it less true.

[ Especially when, even if Yata's aim were true, it still would not hit the younger shinki. ]

Truth or not, you'll probably be punished for actually saying that.

[ Yata just snorts, unimpressed. ]

Bullshit. Besides, not like that's likely to stop me from anything anyway.

[ He tosses Judar his phone when he finally finds the page he's looking for. A page laying out the details of a Scorpio personality - good, bad, and everything in between. Personally, Yata had thought it sounded pretty spot on. ]

[ He'll catch that phone with an easy question before actually looking at what's on there. ]

So you like him punishing you?

[ But fine, fine. He'll read through the whole thing, finding plenty of things to argue against this or turn it around to make Yata change his mind. ]

Excessive jealousy and brooding? True friend? Yeah, most of these I don't see. The highly sexual part, sure, but that's it. I'm not a Scorpio.

[ Of course this is him being stubborn and trying to be right about this being bullshit. Which is more Scorpio than anything. ]

[ That gets a full minute of sputtering from Yata while Judar reads the description. ]

[ Although he just scoffs at Judar's reaction. ]

You brood. A lot. And then lie about it to try and make yourself look cooler. And I don't want to know about your sex drive, dammit.

[ It sure sounds like you like Saru's punishments, Yata. All the sputtering kind of cinches that thought down even further. ]

I feel like you're imagining and trying to put me into a stereotype that isn't there. Mostly because I don't actually lie about things- the truth gets better reactions from people. I haven't been brooding about anything, either.

[ But he'll gladly tell you about how it's that sex drive that's gotten him to head to the near shore a few times. You know, to get to know the followers and everything. ]

[ His subconscious is totally flipping you off right now. ]

Uh huh. And you're not at all stubborn and always sure you're right, either.

[ He really doesn't want to know about that at all, Judar. Keep your weird fetishes to yourself. ]

I'm definitely stubborn, like the rest of you.

[ Pretty sure the stubborn thing isn't a purely Scorpio thing, because too many people here aren't, but are stubborn.

This is getting really dumb. Why are you pushing for this? It's not going to lead anywhere or mean anything.

Well, I'm hardly gonna deny that, this whole temple is full of stubborn people.

[ He snickers, because that still feels like an understatement. ]

Why not? It's not like you have to be defined by all the traits all the time, but it does sound more like you than most of the other signs, so maybe you're this world's equivalent of it. Besides. Everyone should have a birthday.

[ For some reason that feels important to him. Especially after learning how Saru had spent most of his in his memories. ]

I'm not bothering to look at the other signs to find out, because it's still really dumb.

[ And he couldn't really say why this insistence is bristling against him. Especially after he'd been cool with the idea of getting things because of it.

Or was it the added excuse to drink all they wanted? Who knew. ~~Aside from Izumo.~~

Either way, he never thought about it being for himself even in that time. At this point he was just sticking to that to pick a fight, probably. Aside from feeling really weird about just being given one. ]

What's the point in having something like that if it's not going to lead anywhere or mean anything? Which is why I'm saying I don't want one.
