Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[He picks up his novel off the top of its pile, and gives Tenpou a brightly polite smile. They are in the main hall of the Heavens, after all.]

This box still has some space, but it will probably be too heavy if he adds more things to it. So he takes out his phone instead, apparently typing a message... And this reminds him of something, so he speaks while texting. ]

Are things going well with your dragon? I read about that the other day.

[Tenpou's smile is unsettlingly genuine. It just seems wrong, on a face that's so much like Hakkai's own.

Well, he supposes he'll get used to it eventually. It does at least make it easy to remember that they're different people. How different, he's not yet sure: but different.]

Yes, Jeep's been settling in well! You saw that, then?

[So he keeps an eye on the network.]

[ He nods slightly with a quick glance at him before putting his phone away, and then he goes back to his books. Friendly reminder that the network is a public space, if he wants to take it that way. ]

I did, and I was intrigued. It was an eventful couple of days.

[ He starts flipping through an old worn volume of a collection of Japanese folktales. ]

Does Jeep get along with others easily? Dragons seem like more like a roommate type than a pet type, so I wondered about that.

Wasn't it? Ha ha, I wondered if they wanted us to clean in order to check for any more odd appearances.

From the dust, most of the things in storage here haven't been moved in a very long time, though!

Jeep's opinion seems to depend on the person.

Should I ask if you're personally acquainted with any dragons?

[A small group of reincarnated souls: well, that's bizarre, but Hakkai supposes he can accept it. Surely not even his pet is a reflection of some past life, though. No matter how smart the little creature seems to be.]

I don't know if you should.

I didn't live with one, and I most definitely never had a dragon as a pet, if that helps. That would have been completely unthinkable.

[ Ha, ha. Even the thought is more than a little awkward. ]

I suppose if you think of it, he is more like a roommate. He seems quite intelligent, although he can't talk.

Perhaps he's too young for it?

[...or it has to do with whatever happened to him that allows him to turn into a car? What an unpleasant thought.

In any case, he's just not going to ask any more questions about dragons in Tenpou's friend group. Whatever the answer is, it's probably going to be disturbing.]

[ He won't be the one to say anything about science and magic here; he's not even supposed to know that Jeep can turn into a car. So he closes the book he was inspecting (it had nothing of value) and stands up to leave it on the now-rejected book stack against the wall, using this chance to look at what Hakkai put there to see if there's anything worth considering. ]

Ah, speaking of actual pets. Do you have a rabid dog, by any chance? One that threatens to bite people to death?

Oh. I'm sorry, I hope no one was actually bitten?

I assure you he's not rabid, merely badly socialized.

[It sounds like Hibari's been out picking fights again. Hakkai really is going to have to come up with a way to discourage him from that kind of behavior. A way that doesn't require him to keep Hibari on an actual leash, ideally.]

No one was actually bitten. But if it's yours, please be a responsible owner and keep him on leash at all times. He can't be trusted around people yet... Not even on the bulletin board system, apparently.

I'm afraid the most I can say is that he listens to me, sometimes.

[This is a somewhat long-suffering sigh.]

What happened?

He tried to kill me because he thought I was you at first. He didn't like being wrong.

[ Matter-of-fact and unimpressed. ]

[The Ah of understanding that Hakkai makes is equally unimpressed. Hibari really is going to need closer management, isn't he? There are far too many doubles here to let him go around attacking anyone who isn't the person he thought.

And it makes Hakkai's attempts at diplomacy much more annoying.]

Well, I hope there weren't any more injuries than necessary. I'll talk to him.

[--since Tenpou doesn't seem to be nursing any wounds, at least none too serious to hide under clothing, and if Hibari was genuinely trying to kill him then that speaks to a fairly high level of skill.]

[ Well, Hibari definitely managed to annoy him. So if Hakkai feels personally obligated to do something about it, that seems fair.

He's also not giving him any more details since he's not asking. He nods instead. ]

Is he one of your goddess's shinki?

[ Surely there has to be an explanation for his involvement with someone like that. ]

Oh, no. His god is Suzugamori Ren.

[Hakkai smiles brightly, securing the book he'd identified earlier under his arm. The avalanche has reached navigable levels, if he doesn't mind stepping around a few remaining knee-high piles of books, and he doesn't.]

I tried to choke him to death on his first day, so I feel a little obligation.

[ He doesn't react to the 'choke him to death' comment, but he does stare at him when he says that bit about obligation. It's just a slight delay, but it's very obvious. ]
