Summary: In a bid to take over Heaven, Sho has unleashed an apocalyptic number of taboo ayakashi the biggest Heaven-wrecking godmode weapon this side of the Far Shore. It doesn't end well. Get ready for spring cleaning 2.0.

Susano'o, Selfies, and the Subjugation of Heaven

As he'd revealed in his 3 AM BBS post, Sho has a variety of fascinating ayakashi that he wants to share with the world. By noon, several large heaps located in various parts of Heaven have caught on fire and there is a massive outpouring of taboo ayakashi.

Concentrated primarily near the Meeting Hall and Susano'o's junk heap of a temple, these ayakashi attack shinki and gods on sight. They're vicious, powerful, and the only way to defeat them is the power of teamwork.

At 2 PM, Joshua will be providing some helpful tips. Meanwhile, Sho will be teleport-spamming throughout Heaven. Feel free to text him, but he'll stop answering right around the time Bishamon and Hajime start to catch up to him. (Picowatt will be helping out from there on!)

Boss Fight: Seiten Taisei and the Neoclassical Drakes

It's the zero hour, exactly 43,200 seconds since he posted his warning to the BBS when Sho decides to change the game. Heaven has rallied against him, gods and shinki alike, and it's time to pull out the big guns.

In the air above the Meeting Hall, he unleashes thirteen Neoclassical Drakes before releasing Seiten Taisei.

And, suddenly, it's entrails everywhere.

Post-Battle Spring Cleaning

Well, the day is saved, but there's a metric ton left to do. The mass slaughter left a bit of a bloody mess, and Susano'o has shrines on the Near Shore covered in graffiti that can turn any stray ayakashi into the taboo sort. Weird and corrupt magics all over the place, some of which are on fire. His junkyard temple is burning merrily, and there are still some stray taboo ayakashi to put down.

Anyone ready for Spring Cleaning 2.0? Grab a mop.

That's the spirit!

[After those first few warm-up swings, Barry's feeling energized and ready to go. And once she swings him for real, the impact is accompanied by the sudden appearance of a large glacial ice formation on her target, which then shatters in its face as the axe strike follows through.]

Now that's how ya fight demons!

[galactically]

[Magic will never stop surprising her, not when seeing these frogs get hit by ice shatters is enough for her to wide her eyes at awe. She steps back, seeing more frog-like ayakashi leap at her that prompts a horrified shriek.]

Not so fast, you disgusting frogs! Take this!

[There's another swing at the critters, smacking a few of them into the air as they bounce and collide into each other.]

Ooooooooooooooooraaaaaaaaaah!

[Barry lets out a mighty battle cry as his new weapon form cuts through the air, the ice formations doing a wonderful job of slicing through the ayakashi as they burst one by one.]

Only a few more! Keep it up!

[galactically]

[The bursts are quite impressive, ice shards piercing through the ayakashi's bodies. But more of them seem to pop out of the woodwork, as though they're trying to avenge their fallen frog brethren.

Is Sheryl looking disgusted right now? Absolutely.]

These frogs just keep multiplying like rabbits!

[Okay, screw trying to kill all of them. At this rate she'd be content with just making a pathway to get herself and Barry out of there. Thankfully she's actually very athletic from her exercise regimen despite the kind of shoes she's running. Time to sprint and swing at once.

Enjoy being flung in the air, frogs!]

Holy shit, there's no end to 'em!

[Barry's doing his best, though, channeling as much of his power as he can through the weapon. Frogs are flying in every direction as shards of ice burst out of the axe blade, whizzing through the air and slicing into them.]

Let's cut a path through!

That's what I was thinking!

[So in sync after just a few minutes of partnership. As strained as her arms may feel from all that swinging, she can't give up. Sheryl Nome won't give up, not with Barry at her side. Ducking her head from the incoming flickers of ice shards mixed with hideousness known as black frogs, Sheryl drags the tip of the axe to form a makeshift path, like she's parting the sea of frogs. Such quick improvisation is necessary, both on stage and in battle.]

I almost forgot one thing. [She lets out a few puffs of breaths] I read somewhere that to kill these, you need at least one other god and shinki pair and attack them at the same time.

What?!

[Yeah, he hadn't heard that. Barry isn't the most observant fellow around. He was pretty sure they'd clean this mess up themselves as soon as he got a new name. The axe handle vibrates a bit in Sheryl's hands, transmitting his sudden dismay.]

You mean we can't even take 'em out like this? What a pain in the ass...

[galactically]

Oh, whatever! I'll just keep distracting them instead!

[A frustrated groan slips out of her easily as she clutches on to the vibrated axe, still making a path from the frogs. Sheryl may not be able to kill them, but her song still has power, doesn't it? Sure she can wait for another god and shinki pair to come to the rescue, but she'd rather actually escape while the chance is within her grasps.

So she sings, letting her voice resonate with the ayakashi in an attempt to slow them to a screeching halt.]

[Fighting endless hordes of monsters is something Barry's done before, even if he can't remember it, so this actually comes fairly naturally to him. Muscle memory and all that. As long as Sheryl's still fighting, he'll keep it up on his end too.]

Awright, let's make a break for it!

[galactically]

[As soon as Sheryl sees the ayakashi's bodies stiffen up, she swings the axe in their direction, creating a wall of ice separating herself and those critters. Some of them may or may not be turning into icicles right now. This won't automatically kill them, but at least they'll be frozen in place for the time being as she buys more time to escape.]

There! I'll leave that for the rest. Now let's get out of here!

[Clutching Barry's form close to her chest, she sprints out of there, heavy pants out of herself with some sweat on her forehead.]

Don't gotta tell me twice!

[Not that he has a choice, considering he's the one being carried around.]

Looks like we made it. How ya holdin' up?

[galactically]

Thank goodness! I hate it when monsters chase me around.

[She spots a wall from a random building, then leans on it to take a few deep breaths. Resting her free hand on her chest, she spares her arms a worried glance. Blights... they are small, but noticeable.]

I'll be alright.

[In firm assurance despite how much of a mess she is.]

I don't think anybody likes it when that happens.

[Barry, for his part, sits there. Since he's still an axe and all.]

We sure kicked some ass out there, though.

[galactically]

Heeh... we make a very acceptable team.

[Sheryl may look more or less worn out, but at least she obtained a capable shinki out of this. There's a pause before she speaks.]

Thank you.

[very_goodman]

Hey, no problem! I'm just glad you're okay.

[...]

But, uh... can ya call me back now?

[galactically]

[Now that they're safe from ayakashi...]

Barry!

[... it's time to transform back into normal. She calls his name, loud and proud as she extends the axe.]

Whew... thanks.

[He lets out a deep breath as he transforms back. Reaching briefly behind himself to push in against his lower back, there's a brief crack as the joint pops.]

That was one hell of a fight.

[galactically]

[Something about Barry reminds Sheryl of one of the soldiers from SMS, for a reason that she hasn't figured out yet. The hotheaded, gung-ho attitude might have something to do with it, she thinks.

Now with both of her hands free, she takes out a bottle of water from her purse, unscrews the cap, and pours some of the liquid on her arms. A slow sigh of relief comes out of her.]

It sure was. It's not everyday that I get to fight like this... usually I just rely on my songs for this kind of thing, that's it.

[very_goodman]

[Wait'll she gets to experience the other half of his personality. The embarrassing otaku weeb half that loves magical girl shows.]

Don't ya need a shinki to finish 'em off for good, though? It's dangerous out here by yourself.

[galactically]

My power isn't just for show.

[She presses two fingers to her throat, feeling the gentle vibrations against her fingertips as she closes her eyes.]

I can help my shinki this way while they deliver the last blow. [And with a small, playful smile:] Heeeh, did I worry you?

It's a hell of a power, that's for sure.

[Barry grins back at her.]

'Course ya did. I couldn't just let you fight those things on your own.

[galactically]

[If only Barry could see Sheryl "talk" to giant alien bugs from outer space, she muses to herself. A small chuckle slips out.]

You're an okay man to me. As I once said in my blog, "Frivilous men are burdens, but sincere men are treasures."
