School catchall log
Who: Anyone and everyone who wants in
What: The grand opening of Elsa and Hakkai's school!
When: IC March 8-31
Where: The library in Menrva's temple, over in Takamagahara
Summary: Open log for anyone who'd like to stop by Elsa and Hakkai's school, for education, conversation, or procrastination... or just to chill.
**Schedule of classes** - teachers, feel free to add your classes!
Open House
Come meet your staff! Elsa is your head teacher (and principal by default), and Hakkai is the school's protector. Don't try to mess this up, or you won't like the result! Oh, and if your character can and/or would be willing to teach, feel free to offer your subject expertise! (Hakkai can teach classical Chinese literature and math, and Elsa can teach biology, physics, and basics of assorted sciences.)
Class time
Sessions will either be private or group-based, as needed. What does your character want to learn? If they don't have anyone to teach you, they'll find you books and learn together!
Study hall
Got homework? Want to do some research? Menrva's library is here for you. Elsa can help you find whatever it is you need, and being that this is the Far Shore, the library probably has books about any subject you can dream of.
Group work
Talk amongst yourselves to get any assignments or projects done. Try to stay on course, okay? Elsa will be happy to answer any questions as best she can.
Teacher's lounge
There are comfy chairs and desks all around the library, but over by the back, between some shelves and the floor-to-ceiling windows, is a little area reserved for taking a break from teaching. Chat about your students, ask for or offer advice, or just relax and have some tea and snacks.
Wildcard
Create your own scenario! Try not to desetroy anything, though..... please. ;;

[Hakkai has a collection of books and a scattering of papers that he's scribbling on and sticking into each book in turn. It's a lot of work developing a curriculum! And he's not sure which students will or won't have the basics. This is going to be a learning process for everyone concerned.
If anyone comes near the table his study materials are spread out on, he'll bounce up to his feet and offer them a bow.]
Good evening! Please don't mind the mess, I'm still a bit --
Are you going to be studying here?
Teacher's Lounge
[This really is a lot of work, and a long day requires plenty of fortifying tea and good food. Hakkai is engrossed in slicing the crusts off a selection of cute, tiny sandwiches with various fillings. There is a steaming teapot next to the tray where he's arranging the finished sandwiches, and several cups already set out ready to be poured full.]
Ah, try one of the barbecued pork sandwiches! The spices go perfectly with oolong.

But as soon as he heard about the school, something in him clicked and he was there, whether it threw everyone off or not. It wasn't the right school, but it was something, and of course.....this guy.
"You're lucky I didn't come here to fight." Hibari's arms were crossed, his school uniform clearly have been taken care of.
open house
"Well, that's a change!" He slid the syllabus he'd been working on into the nearest book and folded his hands on top of the cover. If this was going to turn into a fight, he'd prefer it didn't destroy any of his paperwork.
As if he'd just thought of something else, he paused, and raised one finger.
"Does that mean you'll give me your name now?"

Open House, March 8
liesWith a backpack full of Hiyori's second-hand text books that he's already working his way through, Yukine approaches the desk and is a little relived when it's a familiar face there. To the question he simply nods. Then he returns a question of his own,]
Is this really going to be like school? Or is it tutoring?
no subject
[He has a bag of books and everything! How well prepared. Hakkai beams at him, impressed.]
Well, it looks like most of it will be one-on-one, but I plan to have a course of study for my classes. What level are you at?

It looks like the man's been awfully busy, based on all of that paperwork]
I just thought I'd stop by, about the phone thing...
[He tugs his own phone from his pocket, holding it up as though the visual aid will assist in conveying his meaning]
Have you been greeting a lot of new students, Sir Hakkai?
no subject
[Hakkai re-stacks some papers that had scattered in the wind of his movement, revealing a small platter of tea sandwiches that he'd borrowed from the teacher's lounge. He scoots them forward so Slaine can easily reach them, and sits back down.]
We've seen a few now! It's very encouraging.
Now, where did I put that phone...?
[He rummages again, finally producing a small smartphone from his own pocket.] Oh, there it is!

[Here, Elsa is in her element. She's worked at a few private schools in the past, so she has quickly settled into that place again, looking comfortable as she walks around. Whenever someone comes in, she greets them with a smile.]
So good to see you here. Feel free to look around and have some tea. Hakkai and I are here to answer any questions you may have.
Teacher's Lounge
[Once she sees even one person in the area designated as teacher's lounge, Elsa wastes no time approaching them. Don't worry, she's not swooping in without letting you breathe or get settled -- she comes over with a tray of little sandwiches (with meat, vegetarian, and vegan options), which she sets down on the refreshments table as she asks,]
So, what do you think so far?
[About the classes, the students, the space -- pretty much anything related to the school!]
Group Work
[It's never a good idea to leave students unattended, and even though she's not exactly working with only teenagers here, the habit is too ingrained in Elsa to ignore, so she walks around the library while students, either alone or with others, go about their work.
Now and again she'll pause and take a peek at the assignment being worked on.]
This looks interesting. Could you tell me a little about it?
Wildcard
(Dream up your own! Feel free to pm or pp me with questions or ideas.)

And he was going to get it.
But he felt someone enter his presence and his eyes snapped open, trapping them in his gaze. "What do you want."
no subject
She smirks, crossing her arms, and nods at him. "I'm trying to figure out if you're slacking or not. It's not every day I wonder if someone sleeping in the library is or isn't one of my students."

[Yuuki isn't stupid by any means. Actually, she's pretty well-learned, all things considered! But that doesn't stop her from getting stumped by some of these math problems. After doing pretty well with all of the practice problems prior, it's like she's suddenly hit a wall.]
What am I doing wrong...? The answer just won't come out right!

[Need a work partner? Trying to pass along notes? Otherwise want to find her around the school for a chat? Feel free to find her around!]

[Flynn had been browsing through a very image-heavy book when he heard the declaration. He glanced over at the girl who seemed to be agonizing over a very dense book with strange symbols and terminology.]

study hall, backdated to March 10th
She's been feeling bored ever since she arrived into the room, the quiet atmosphere lulling her eyelids to droop over. The temptation to find the nearest table and use a book as a pillow is so high that it's driving her crazy. She's supposed to use the library to find any information on this place, or even gather inspiration to write a new song! Maybe she can learn a new foreign word or two for lyrics...
Yet here she is, standing just a few feet away from Slaine, his profile in her line of vision. He looks so focused on his reading, so dedicated...
A smirk tugs at her lips as an idea hits her. Fighting the urge to snicker, Sheryl pivots on her heels and tiptoes so as to not make noise. Once she's right behind Slaine, she extends a finger... and gently pokes the back of his neck.
Poke, poke, poke, poke...]
no subject
If only this were a threat.
Given that Sheryl isn't aiming a true attack at him, and he's so focused on his reading, he doesn't notice anyone approaching him in particular. And so it is that he jolts when she pokes him, looking up wide-eyed from his book.
Just give him a moment to recover]
...May I help you?

[School seemed like a normal concept to Rise. Sure, she didn't know what she's already learned in life, but after observing some of the living girls in the city, it seemed like something that she should do.
Besides, it'll be a good way to meet new people again. She's not sure how kosher it is to head into another god's temple, but if they're inviting people in, then it must be okay.
For anyone that Rise met on her first day, she looks like she's in better spirits today. A lot less shy and put out. Heck, she might even be trying to strike up a conversation now.]
So, what are you hoping to learn here?
Study Hall
[Of course her first issues happen to be about math. Sitting in a chair in the corner with a notebook open, Rise looks positively stumped, and bored.
So bored that she's started doodling in the corners of the page. At first they're just silly designs, then morph into flowers, that become what looks like random music notes.
And down below those notes looks like the beginnings of what could be lyrics. They're not related to any song she knows (not that she knows any), and could be easily passed off as random thoughts. Whatever she's writing, she seems to be far more into it than the math equations.]
((ooc: feel free to make the lyrics about anything or as random as you want))
study hall! (gah sorry for the delay)
He can also sneak up on inattentive students.
He's trying to do that right now, although she seems to be paying attention to something... just not something on the same part of the page as her homework.
Hakkai considers the music notes, and then the lyrics, and finally speaks up in a conversational tone just behind her shoulder.]
I don't think "from" is the best rhyme for "boredom"!
no subject
So there's a yelp of surprise when she hears his face and instantly hugs the notebook to her body, face beat red now. Are you serious?! They're monitoring the study hall too!]
Tha-- that doesn't help at all!!

[A school... He couldn't remember if he had gone to one before he died. While he wasn't planning to actually attend any classes, the library was a different story. By the time he had perused all the shelves that interested him he had a good stack of books that he couldn't possibly get through in one day, but there they were on the table in front of him. On the magic side of things, all he could find were books about the occult and other supernatural forces. (Though he did end up spending a decent-sized chunk of time reading up about gods and goddesses.) It wasn't exactly what he was looking for, but it would have to do. The science and math side fared much better, and the advanced subjects of those books made it clear that he was fairly well-read, especially considering the situation in his previous life.]
Study Hall - B
[He would end up staying there for a while. Probably entirely too long, actually. After several hours of reading, the quiet atmosphere and comfy chairs meant that he just dozed off entirely, letting the book he was holding drop to the floor. At this rate he was going to end up sleeping until the library closed.]
Study Hall - B
Letting books go out with their visitors just seems like an excellent way to ruin a very nice collection of reference materials.
This does mean, though, that some people wind up staying a little late.
There's no real closing time, but Hakkai pauses as he hears slow, sleeping breaths break the stillness of the library as he walks by on his way to find Elsa for dinner.
He slips in, looking around. It doesn't take a long time to spot the boy half-hidden by the oversized stack of books on his table. Oh, and he's dropped one, too. Hakkai tsks, picks up his book, and puts it back down on the table next to his head.]
You'll get a stiff neck sleeping there!
no subject
All of that was swirling around in his head, and he hadn't even begun to approach the issue of him being chided by a complete stranger. Really, him being chided in general didn't typically lead to good scenarios.
That is, it didn't lead to good scenarios for other people. For Ross himself, it was easy enough to shrug off.]
I'll live. [He picked up the book that Hakkai had placed on the table and thumbed through it, trying to find his place again.] I won't be falling asleep again anyway.
