Training with Ekko
Shopping trip!
[Closed to Ekko]
It is, however, something his shinki may need to get used to.
"Get up," he says, nudging Ekko's shoulder with one hand. "It's time for training."
no subject
He yawns and pushes the hand away as he starts rising. "What time is it?"
no subject
"It's time to get up," Sonic quips, hands on his hips and a smirk on his face. "It's also 5:30. You should feel thankful, I've been up for an hour already."
no subject
"What, do you only sleep four hours a night?" Actually, do the dead even need sleep? He's not sure, but he still likes it.
"What do you want, my weapon form?"
no subject
He turns to head out of the room, waving for Ekko to follow. "Not yet. We'll do some stretches and a light run to warm up, then I'll have a look at your weapon form."
no subject
"You're a training nut, aren't you?"
no subject
"But, admittedly, I can get a bit caught up."
no subject
"Good to know I pegged you right,"
no subject
"Sports and athletics are part of my domain as a god, if I wasn't into it, I would say they picked the wrong man for the job. Besides," he adds, a wide grin lighting up his face as he pushed the backdoor open. "How could I not be excited about this set up?"
Just beyond the door is a long, Olympic size pool, and beyond that? A running track with an obstacle course at its center. "I don't even have to set up my own training field!"
no subject
Ekko rolls his eyes. Whatever, he can deal, but he's not going to have fun waking up this early.
"You're a weird guy."
no subject
Sigh.
"I do understand if you don't share my enthusiasm for self-improvement via physical fitness," he says as he walks along side the pool towards the track. "I won't demand that you meet my standards - they're impossible to achieve without years of hard work and diligence anyway. But I don't want to go into battle feeling that I cannot rely on you, and I certainly don't want to go into battle if you feel you can't rely on me. Training is the only way I know how to build this trust."
no subject
"I don't mind running, I do mind being up this early. Running around midnight's more my thing." Hell he doesn't even mind running around during midday.
"Alright, stretch and run, right?" He's already stretching himself out.
no subject
"I suppose I could adjust to a later schedule if it's that much of a hardship for you, but I feel like the day can be used more productively when you begin it early."
"Keep your posture straight," he says as he dips down into a lunge. "And stretch to your furthest capacity. The point is to loosen your joints and warm up your muscles before pushing them to their limits."
no subject
"The day is the day no matter what. As long as you stay up for the same amount of time and do what you need, there's no difference." And he knows exactly how long he's been awake for at any given moment.
He does as he's told, finding no reason to fight him over stretches.
no subject
Smacking, however, as he well knows, does little to endear him to anyone, so he huffs and grumbles his way through his stretches instead. At least Ekko doesn't sass him about those.
When he finishes, he gestures to Ekko. "You can set the pace. We need to learn to work together, so it'll be better for me to match your speed."
no subject
Exercise is exercise, and he doesn't actually want to strain anything.
"My pace, huh?" Alright, then he'll take off, and that's not exactly a teenager's normal running speed, and if Sonic looked closely enough he seems to be dashing and blinking forward every once in a while. He's not as fast as Sonic, but he's certainly faster than most.
no subject
Once Ekko is about half way around the track, Sonic rushes to catch up to him, making up the distance with a crack of thunder and a blink of the eye.
no subject
The crack of thunder and the speed- alright then. Sonic wasn't kidding when he said his whole name was Speed of Sound Sonic. He won't push himself to go any faster, because he's fairly sure this is as fast as he can go at a sustained pace. Good thing he's not just blowing hot air.
no subject
Once they reach the end of a lap, he asks, "Do you think you can handle a mile?"
no subject

"We'll see." He dashes after Sonic, and tries to tag him. He doesn't go speed of sound, but with the dash-blinks, any time Sonic's close enough by, he'll tag him. Now he has a target, now his range is extended, and the range he can blink to gets just a bit wider.
no subject
For their third lap around the track, he zig-zags across the width of the path, giving Ekko a moving target to try and catch.
no subject
By now it's been too long since the last two touches, he needs three. He's not sure why, but he really feels like three is the number he's supposed to be going for.
He gets close, he keeps getting close. The zig-zags are fun. It's a pattern he feels familiar with, though he feels more like he was attempting to dodge something than to catch. Either way, he has no falter in his step while he turns and dash-blinks. He's certainly steady even, at this speed.
no subject
Except, of course, when Ekko blinks into being right in front him. He barely avoids the collision, tripping over his own feet as he stumbles out of the way.
