Ekko gets him the first couple times. Sonic wasn't expecting the increase in range, and it takes him several tries to re-calibrate. For the rest of the lap, he hovers just out of reach, laughing quietly to himself.

For their third lap around the track, he zig-zags across the width of the path, giving Ekko a moving target to try and catch.

The first two hits are satisfying- and the third one eludes him.

By now it's been too long since the last two touches, he needs three. He's not sure why, but he really feels like three is the number he's supposed to be going for.

He gets close, he keeps getting close. The zig-zags are fun. It's a pattern he feels familiar with, though he feels more like he was attempting to dodge something than to catch. Either way, he has no falter in his step while he turns and dash-blinks. He's certainly steady even, at this speed.

As easy as it would be to dodge away when Ekko gets close, Sonic keeps the game as fair as he can and limits himself to zipping back and forth across the track.

Except, of course, when Ekko blinks into being right in front him. He barely avoids the collision, tripping over his own feet as he stumbles out of the way.

Ekko doesn't even seem to stumble, chasing directly after Sonic as he stumbles away, and trying to land another 'hit'.

This is clearly a game. But... somehow it still feels a little familiar to something else, somehow.
