A. I’m falling between the cracks

[After the event that affected the Heavens, Lavi has decided to take it upon himself to distance himself from a few people.

So, people would be able to find Lavi at a park, huddled under a tree. He doesn’t seem to be paying attention to anything in particular, but his usual headband is missing and there’s a silver bird clip currently attached to the collar of his shirt. His eye seems to be focused on a book laid out on his lap, lips moving as he reads what’s on the page.

However, the moment he senses someone coming up to him, the book is slammed shut and he eyes the person almost warily.]

B. The Library Goblins

[Thanks to the pulse or whatever it was, one of the first things Lavi’s done after returning to normal is to inspect the library.

Or rather, inspect the area around it.

He frowns a bit, cupping his chin in thought before he turns to the nearest person.]

Have you seen the goblins? [This is. A very important question since Lavi’s become aware of the goblins the moment they had decided to steal the books back.]

[The question takes him a little by surprise, so he blinks at her.]

I call him 'Deku'. Why do you ask?

[She points to herself]

I call him Dekuku!

[And she points to him again, practically booping him on the nose]

How'd you start calling him 'Deku'? Did Dekuku tell you anything about that name?

[His nose scrunches up a bit when she boops him on the nose.

Really, Hajime?]

Yeah, he told me to call him that when we first met.

[Really! This is super important stuff. Nose boops are required for this. Think about Izuku]

That's it? Zip? Zippo? Why Deku though?

[Lavi frowns a bit.]

He hasn't told me why. He just said I could call him Deku.

[birdstheword]

[She stares at him a second longer before ploping back down next to him. Her arms cross as she grumbles to herself letting something that sounds like a whine and a hum.]

I guess so...hmmmmmm

[She snaps her fingers.] Okay! Wanna start our game back up?

[Not even going to explain or at least she doesn't seem to see that she needs to]

[A blink and he shakes his head.]

Not until you tell me why you've asked first. Did something happen when you were with Deku as a kid?

Mmmm Bad? No. Strange? Yep! I still don't really get it when you compaire the older Dekuku to the bitty Dekuku. Hero thing still the same though.

I would hope the Hero thing would remain the same.

[Otherwise, Izuku wouldn't be Izuku.

His interest is piqued now and that's usually never a good thing.]

Maybe something happened to him as a kid.

[and she's pulling her phone out again, looking up a number]

I donno...I called him Dekuku when I first ran into him and he was super upset. Said he wasn't useless and kept getting me to call him Izuzu-chan instead.

[Hm~ hm~ hm~ She holds up her phone, Izuku's contact information up and ready to call.]

Should we call him and ask?

[Just out right]

[A blink before he just kind of stares.

Hajime, are you seriously going to call Izuku about this?]

You think he'd actually tell us if we ask?

[Izuku is one friend Lavi doesn't want to lose so soon, okay.]

Why wouldn't he? I'll tell him we're super curious about it.

[Look Lavi, 'we', your name is getting tossed into this too. She even gives a wink.]

We might have to put our game on pause though. For a bit.

Well, if you're sure about it.

[Please don't let this be a bad idea.

He shrugs.]

It's fine. We can wait until after we talk to Deku.

[And calling that she does. Don't worry so much Lavi]

.....Hey Dekuku! Good morning! Are you back to normal? You sound back to normal! I'd know your voice anywhere. But I was wondering if you're free right now? Lavi and me had something to ask you about but I think it'd be easier if the three of us meet up!

[She reaches out with her free hand, grabbing onto Lavi's hand firmly before pulling it into the air with both of hers in excitement.]

See you in three~!

[With that, she turns to smile at Lavi.]

BAAAANNNZZZZZZ-

[- before teleporting with him and appearing just over Izuku.
Maybe three seconds was a bit off an understatement.
It was more like two seconds, she didn't even hang up the phone.]

[He should really know Hajime better, but when she calls him like that he kind of expected her to show up in front of the dorms. Outside of his room, maybe his kitchen.

Not right above him.]

Ack!

[to be honest, Lavi wasn't expecting her to just grab him and teleport with him either.

He really wasn't expecting to suddenly appear above Izuku either.

...Sorry, Izuku. You might be getting squashed now.]

[Hajime hops off Izuku and right up to her feet, leaving the boys on the floor as she does a spin. Smiling, she holds up two fingers by her cheek]

Here we are! Zetta fast!

[Maybe he'll just stay on the floor, Shouto renovated it. There are tatami mats here. It's comfortable like this.

He's just going to lie here for a bit.]

So... uh. What did you want to talk about?

Hajime's got a question for you.

[He shifts a bit so that he's sitting up, rubbing his head.

A little warning would've been nice first, Hajime.]

You remember being little Izuzu-chan right? You gotta! Lavi and I were wondering about that. I didn't think you minded the name Dekuku but when you were tiny, cute, and super adorable you seemed upset by it. Why?

[Like hell you're getting out of this Lavi, you were curious to.]

[Oh. Oh... yeah, that's right. He didn't like that nickname until this year.

He'll sit up. Man, he really only talked about this to Sheryl, didn't he?]

Kacchan gave me that nickname when I was little. Since the first character in my first name can also be read 'de' I got the nickname Deku. The word means somebody who's useless. So I didn't like it when I was little. Kacchan... he really rubbed it in back then.

Oh- uh! It's my hero name now though! Uraraka heard it my first day of high school. And she thought it sounded like "I can do it"! S-so anyway, that's why I didn't like it when I was little but I don't mind it anymore.

[Upon hearing the backstory of it, Lavi looks off to the side a bit, though his expression gives nothing way. Really, he thought it'd be something more terrible, but even now, it does seem bad.

A little bullied, but Izuku seems to have come out of it better.

So, he looks back at Izuku, eye flickering to Hajime before he looks at the other man.]

That explains why you didn't like it as a kid then.

[And Hajime, stop dragging him down with you.]

Though, I'll admit that I do like calling you 'Deku', anyway.

[Hajime listens, lacing her fingers behind her back as she pivots from heel to toe. She can't say she's overly surprised. She had heard some stories of Kacchan and she said hi to him once, briefly. Grumpy boy.]

So keep it Dekuku then?

[She smiles, kneeling down to offer her hand to him.]

Dekuku...that's so much cuter then I thought! "I can do it"! That sounds perfect for you. I'm with Lavi on Dekuku....but Izuzu was so cute to. Izuzudekuku~

... Just not Izuzudekuku. That's a little long for a nickname.
