Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the rear of the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a much nicer room than the warehouse where the last set of new gods got their informational speech. It's a smaller meeting room, with tatami floors and a small dais at the front of the room where the speaker stands. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Butterfly spirits are swarming the flower garden to one side of the dojo, fluttering across bright pink late-blooming cosmos. Shinki who want to practice more precise borderline aim can try using them to gently herd the butterflies one way or another, or, if their borderlines aren't quite that good yet, they can try to catch one with a net. Just be careful! It would be a shame to hurt them.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

The animated training dummies are missing this week, although the mundane ones are still intact on their stakes; the white-robed shinki who has previously been seen looking after them is wandering among the mundane training dummies, muttering, making notes to himself and swearing under his breath. Anyone who stares at him for too long, god or shinki, newcomer or established, is going to find him marching over and assigning them a task. Measure the air temperature in each square foot of the dojo, determine the exact height of each dummy and the location where it's most likely to be hit by opponents of different heights, hook an accelerometer to someone's sleeve while they smack a dummy around -- there seem to be hundreds of little, fiddly measurements he needs, and he's not taking no for an answer.

Rest and Refreshments

There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, and a fresh autumn-themed lunch will be served a little after noon. Rice with mushrooms, salt-grilled fish, roasted sweet potatoes and fresh fruit are on the menu; the shinki will try to accommodate any special dietary requests, and both the new arrivals and more experienced volunteers are welcome to partake.

One of the white-robed shinki has a whole pack of half-grown puppies that she seems to be trying to train. A few have mastered sitting, a few have figured out how to fetch, and all of them are young and excited enough that they're dashing off in all directions at the least provocation. Watch out! Dog incoming! Maybe she needs some help with that?

A - God Training

[Today, there is a small child joining all the new shinki listening to the minor deity speak. He's a well dressed boy, put into clothes as if they were his Sunday best, and sitting very quietly and politely on a chair. His legs may be swinging idly, but his eyes are focused intently on their speaker.]

[When the minor deity is done, he turns to the nearest person and smiles.]

So what did you think of it?

B - Shinki Training

[MEANWHILE, as the god lecture goes on...]

[A pair of shinki are lingering on the edges of the dojo, dressed in sharp black suits. One of them is a bit of a brutish looking man with a strong jaw and broad shoulders who looks like he could win a fist fight even in his professional suit. The other is much shorter, with his bangs swept along the right side of his forehead. Both of them look a bit exhausted as they stand there, notably as far away as they can from Amaterasu's shinki who are teaching anyone about borderlines.]

[Eventually, however, the younger looking of the pair finally murmurs a few words to the other before he detaches and beings to approach people.]

Excuse me. My name is Aomi. Would you mind practicing borderlines with me? I would like to practice with someone new.

C - Physical Training

[Once their god is out of the god's only room, both shinki immediately return to his side regardless of what they've been doing beforehand, and the larger one carefully holds the child god's hand in his as he hurries them forward. Of course, he wants to head right to the part of the dojo more meant for physical training than anything. Once there, he can be observed cheerfully telling his two shinki something.]

[The younger of the pair seems almost embarrassed, rubbing the back of his neck while his elder gives him a sympathetic but amused smile. Eventually, however, the tiny god wins out, and calls out both names...]

[The older shinki seems to disappear entirely, no animal or item or piece of clothing left behind. But the younger?]

[Well. Let's just say that there is a small child now drowning in denim. It is a kimono, and it is sized for an adult, not a child. That doesn't seem to be bothering the god any as he beams down at the garment before carefully picking it up and tropping through the dojo.]

[He seems... so cheerful about it...]

D - Rest

[The two shinki have finally gotten a bit of rest. While they've both passed on the lunch offered by Heaven, they seem relieved to have cups of water to sip on while they stand to the side and leave their god on his own...]

[...while he goes to venture over to the puppies, only to be immediately be knocked over as the puppies swarm him.]

Getting swarmed by excitable affectionate puppies doesn't seem to be the worst of fates to have in this place, after all.

Still, she's giggling as she comes over to see what the fuss is, spotting the young boy currently buried under wagging tails and licking tongues. ]

Shinki Training

Teamwork. Right.

[He wasn't opposed to teamwork per se, but Qrow was more interested in why they had even been tasked with chasing down butterflies in the first place. A new Shinki, he still needed to master the use of the Borderline and found himself armed with a net instead.

A rather large net, on a long pole.

Testing, he gave it an idle twirl in his hands-- as if it were a weapon rather than a tool for safely catching the fragile insects. Following that motion, he gave it a few cursory swings in the same manner that a sword or staff would be used, callused hands gripping the handle with the comfortable ease of a practiced fighter.

He was paying enough attention to his surroundings, but whose to say that someone wouldn't accidentally wander into his way?]

Rest

[Maybe the poor girl stuck with the dogs really did need a hand-- or, maybe the dogs just needed another something to play with. Regardless of what was reasonable or right, Qrow decided to do the one thing that everyone else was trying to resist:]

[With the dexterity of someone well practiced in the art of discretion, Qrow had slipped off with an entire plate of salted fish and was dropping pieces of it down from the safety of a low hanging tree branch.

The puppies scampered around, barking and whining in excitement at this unexpected feast-- and Qrow just sat there with the widest, proudest grin on his face.]

Hey! Come help me out!

[Edge is on a mission today, one tending a little towards manic thanks to his severe restlessness and the promise that a good training session will prove a panacea for what ails him. Enough brooding, damn it!]

[So any eager soul willing to help, which means anyone who gets too close or makes eye contact, is getting ushered over to a safely empty space where the ninja can work.]

I need Borderline help, and for that I need people help. I want to figure out how to let people through it!

Physical Training

[Edge is a blur of fist, feet, and cloak -- possibly more the latter than any of the rest put together, as he attacks a target dummy. Somewhere in life he'd learned martial arts, clearly... not surprising for a ninja, right? And here he is, practicing it.]

[A dexterous man, Edge has both merits and flaws to his style. That cape of his proves surprisingly useful in the middle of this flurry, camouflaging and confusing his blows... but he's overtly rusty with this style, occasionally lapsing back into a strike that presumes he had a weapon in his hand.]

[After a moment, he steps back, a scowl writ large across the half of his face that's visible.] THIS is what I should be working on, clearly!

[Ginia blinks as she's suddenly pulled into things by a stranger, but with no real plans for the day and the request reasonable enough, she lets herself be pulled along.]

Sure thing. Let me know what to do.

[She types up on her phone, holding out the message for him to read.]

God Training

[What draws the Valkyrie here, she cannot say. She is of little help to new gods, in her opinion, and needs none of the information they have to offer here (which she considers quite inadequate as well, it must be said). And yet here she is anyway, surveying the crowd as best she can for being shorter than most of them, yet lacking nothing for presence.]

[Only on a level far below the conscious one does she understand she is watching for her fellow Aesir. If she is here, so too might they arrive someday. And if they do...!]

[And thus the Valkyrie watches the gods, tension in every line of her body and embers of anger in her eyes that she is not even aware of. A dangerous sight, perhaps, but her intensity is aimed at no one here she can see. Perhaps she can be safely approached.]

God/Shinki Training

[Though she won't say no to any who wish to train or spar with her, the Valkyrie is not here exclusively for that purpose today. Instead, quite unusually, she makes a circuit of the temple to watch others in their training, her expression contemplative.]

[She seeks two different sorts of people: on the one hand, either shinki or gods who seem to lack the equipment they need to train or perform their duties in the Far Shore; on the other, any god whatsoever, or any shinki who displays an openly supernatural ability.]

[Anyone who fits in any of this groups will find her approaching at a purposeful stride, her destination unmistakable.]

[After the initial speech and informational meeting, a rather dark (if oddly short) figure emerged from the room, and he turned his eyes around the area to get a better idea of who else might be present. Several remarkable people, certainly, but one person stood out.

That anger, that purity of focus, and alertness. Though some might be cowed by such a frankly intimidating sight, fear was not something Valvatorez had much of. He rather blatantly approaches the Valkyrie, but without any trace of aggression or ill-intent.]

You look to be on edge. Are you new around here as well?

Shinki Training

[ While she seems to have gotten a hang of the general borderline technique (though has yet to practice it properly,) it didn't occur to her to herd the butterflies. In fact, she thought they were pretty and distracted by how forward a couple of them were. And so she had a couple resting on the left, blackened arm, simply to be admired.

And then four more hovered around and started to land on her. ]

Um...

[ With some concern, the young redhead starts making her way towards the dojo, though none of the butterflies seemed to want to take flight. In fact, it's not much longer before a swarm starts to gather around. Oh, she really wasn't expecting to be worried about something like this ]

I'm not sure what to do.

[ Help. ]


Physical Training

[ She had to ask. With the concern one of the white-robed people seemed to be going around in, curiosity and concern had her asking what was wrong. Which was the wrong thing to do, apparently, as it left her with several notebooks and a bag full of various gadgets in hand. She didn't know how to say no, with him already walking off to go back to his work, though.

While in some white robes herself, Chise returns to the training grounds to carefully approach one of the people that was practicing. ]

Sorry, excuse me. This might sound strange, but could I attach something to you, for while you're training?


R&R

[ After getting all those things thrust at her, and all of the extra work she ended up doing, finally the teenager is able to sit down with a nice, large helping of the food that had been made. Mostly the rice, fish and fruit. While eating politely and taking measured bites, she seems to be taking a while before reaching that 'full' point.

In fact, she pauses with a sigh after taking off the initial hunger and fatigue. ]

I wonder, is it always like this? I admit, I didn't know what to expect with 'Heaven.'

[In no time at all, Celestia has determined two important things: she has been assigned a soulless shinki to take the place of yet another lost one, and once again, no other ponies have come to the Far Shore.]

[The truth is, she doesn't know whether to be happy or sad.]

Rest and Refreshments

Hmmm.

[The pony appraises the offerings of food thoughtfully, a long quill pen making notations on a scroll as both of them float next to her, surrounded by the same golden aura as shines from her horn.] Is this a suitable meal for humans? I know they like meat, but is fish enough to satisfy them...?

[She taps one hoof on the ground thoughtfully, then with a slight shake of her head turns her attention to the water casks.]

Now I know this isn't enough...

Physical Training

[Princess Celestia regards the training dummy she faces with open skepticism, then glances around the room to see if there are any targets more suited to a pony. As usual, there are not, but she still had to check nonetheless. She turns her gaze back to the dummy, as if expecting something.]

[Then she turns, plants her forehooves, and delivers a powerful kick with both rear legs. The dummy all but explodes into splinters a foot above the ground, its upper portion hurtling across the room to smack against the wall where it, too, bursts like a water balloon dropped on the pavement.]

[Celestia winces at the noise, dropping her head slightly.] I am never going to figure out a good way to improve physically.

[With vapid and half-mindless enthusiasm, a demon waves a thermometer in the air, trying to reach the very upper corner of the room. Another one examines a sword through a jeweler's loupe, scribbling observations on a sheet of paper. Off to one side, a third minion vigorously attempts to measure the ears of anyone who comes too close, and another one stands on the far side of the hall, flicking a flashlight on and off while on the exact opposite side, yet another minion clicks a stopwatch each time. In the center of all this chaos, a stitched-together penguin-thing pirouettes on pegleg, and the floating book just stares in shock.]

What the --!? How did I lose control of this situation?!

Physical Training

[Whatever illness that had been plaguing her the previous month seemed to be gone now, as Mai entered the training area with a renewed sense of both energy and purpose. In her hands, a new weapon: a personally modified M21 semi-automatic sniper rifle. She'd spent a long time hunting down one with a similar enough feel to her old weapon, and the M21 seemed to suit her purposes well enough.]

[Of course, she wouldn't risk firing in such closed quarters. So instead, Mai set up in the adjacent field area, making sure to set up the targets at a fair but still challenging distance. Away from the group. From here, she positioned herself at the starting line and took aim.]

[Her first several shots hit the bulls-eye with seemingly no effort on her part.]

Not bad. [Nodding in approval, she straightened her posture and checked her magazine. The bullets were rubber, meant for practice only, but she was working on some special bullets in the meantime. The kind that would be able to hold a blessing and thus affect any ayakashi she hit.] It might be a bit big for battle, though. Maybe I should start with a smaller handgun....

[Just as her strength had returned to her, so did her appetite; Mai could be found sitting beneath one of the large, shady trees. A steaming cup of tea in hand and a few select food items scattered on a couple plates to one side.]

[Huh. That's some pretty good shooting, he has to say, from his extremely limited opinions on the subject of firearms and significantly more knowledge about hitting bullseyes from a distance. Edge runs a finger along the mask over his chin.]

I thought I heard firearms were frowned on around here.

[A: Physical(?) Training]

[While Shun doesn't mind the absence of the animated dummies this week - judging by all that notemaking and swearing the shinki in charge of them is doing, they're probably going to be improved next time they show up - it does mean he's stuck with normal ones or normal training partners this week. He's also not initially planning to help out with the fiddly measurement efforts, until he notices the shinki trying to take measurements on a couple of the effigies, and pauses to observe briefly.

Even before the shinki gets the chance to fully storm over and demand his help, he's already swiping the tape measure and a marker from him, attention on the straw figures rather than the shinki for the most part.

It's been a while since he's had to do any meaningful maths, but it feels like it's coming as naturally as it used to, and all he really needs to do is measure the main height first and the height he himself would be punching it at before he can get to work. Mostly, he's silent in his calculations, but every so often, he'll make a couple of comparative indications in the air with the hand holding the marker before making a mark on the straw either higher or lower than the first one, and noting a height next to it in five centimeter increments. It's taking into account a couple of factors other than just height, so he's not moving the marks a set number up and down, but he still doesn't seem to have trouble forming the calculations.

He looks much less bored than he usually does with helping in the Heavens' busywork, at least, though he'll still readily look to anyone who approaches him closer than a few metres away.]

If you want to be useful, throw a punch or a kick at this thing. [He's doing punching first, but the latter he'll have to get to in a variety of ways later anyway.]

[B: Actual Physical Training]

[To start himself off today, Shun is doing one of the types of training that doesn't really find disadvantage from a static target. He has a handful of throwing knives of different sizes and shapes, and is going through them one by one to test out how to throw them.

He's obviously used to projectile weaponry of some kind, because the hits he lands are accurate, it's just the angle the knife hits at he's having trouble with. But he seems to be doing well enough for himself slowly figuring it out, pulling each one out of the dummy several times and trying alternate grips and throwing styles until he manages to land a both accurate and blade-first hit a few times in a row.]

Annoying, but I suppose this way works. [It'd be quicker if he had someone who knew how to do it in detail.]

[C: Rest and Refreshments]

[Shun isn't eating anything himself, as usual, but he ends up sitting in a tree rather than on the grounds today, courtesy of the rampaging puppies. A couple of them passing beneath still try to leap up at him when they notice his presence, but overall, he's doing a pretty good job of avoiding them.

The same can't be said of the swarming butterflies that can't fit themselves onto the nearby flowers, though, and eventually he just decides it's a waste of time trying to swat the butterflies away when a new one shows up a moment later anyway. He is, however, periodically moving them off his head to one arm, which eventually has an effective coating of perched butterflies shifting their wings open and closed.]

Why the hell are these things only showing up when it's almost winter...

[[As usual, Shun will be around the dojo training with a variety of weapons over the course of the day, so he can be asked to spar or asked to teach people techniques if they want.]]

[Ginia waits until Shun is finished throwing his knives and the target cleared before she steps into his field of vision. She pulls a throwing knife off an arm holster and throws with her right hand. The knife flies solidly and lands point-first in the target, a second knife swiftly joining it. Ginia still frowns at the two throws before angling toward Shun.]

You're too stiff in the elbow.

[She's on her feet, which is a good sign, but her posture is also stiffer than usual, especially her back.]

[With a gesture and a quiet invocation, Dust traces a line on the ground that snaps up into a Borderline, nearly walling off the butterflies with a neat semicircle. A gentle waves of his hand sends them fluttering away, off across the garden towards the next likely person.]

[ This was something that Mikleo had to perfect. It was a power that he was still trying to learn how to use. If he didn't get good at it, he wouldn't be able to protect his god. Mikleo concentrated, creating a neat enough net to steer the butterflies towards another direction as he looked over at who was speaking to him. ]

I think so.

[ This never gets any easier no matter how long he's been here. ]

[It's been a while since Gohan's actually been to one of these (no, not really. He's just missed the last one before this), so what good way to get back on his toes than to start some training here? He's being good and not trying to go Mystic. In fact, people may even see him lingering near doing some physical training of his own such as sparring with anyone who comes up to him and asks or finds themselves into one by accident or being approached by that strange shinki who keeps muttering to himself.

Either way, Gohan is here to see what the situation is. It's just a bonus to get some training done in the process as well.

So, be prepared to fight or witness Gohan be convinced by the shinki to wear some device to test speed.]

[When the dogs come running, Gohan isn't bothered.

In fact, he seems to laugh when they try to tackle him down, rubbing their heads affectionately.

He grins at them.]

[Aymeric wasn't new, not by a long shot. However, he was here for a different reason and not to loiter around. If a new god still was confused by the explanation, he will smile gently and gesture to them in greeting.]

Hello there, I am one of the offworlders holding a god position. Is there anything I may be able to assist you with?

[He also has a satchel of folders with him...information actually. It's ok to ask about them! But he's not just open to newcomers, anyone can find him and ask him what exactly he is doing.]

[He felt like he was getting a bit rusty with his sword skills and decided to try and refresh his mind on proper sword combat. With a wooden training sword, he lands swift blows with precision as to where he hit. It seemed rather normal until...

What the hell was that?

It was enough to hit at least three dummies but seriously, why the light show?]


Rest and Doges

[You know those rambunctious puppies that are running all over the place? Well, one of them just happened to jump around Aymeric's heels as he was drinking some tea. Setting the cup down and kneeling, he starts to pet the pup on the head. Following by giving him ear scritches.]

Oh, who's a good puppy? Are you a good boy?

[...no one said that you can't like both cats and dogs. And the pup probably smells Mandragora on him which is why he's running around, but the elezen doesn't mind giving him scritches and attention.]

[Saber pauses mid-swing. He usually spends these training sessions watching other people rather than practicing anything himself and it seems like even though he decided to make an extra effort today, it's still only managed to last until something more exciting showed up.]

[ Hibiki is not a shinki. But Hibiki does enjoy a pristine, picturesque scene when she sees one, and these flowers - and those butterflies - definitely qualify. So, although she'd come out here with teacup in hand to scout for potential useful staff for her movie...

A slender hand plucks a single blossom, twirls it between her fingers. ] Cosmos, in flower language, means "peacefulness and joy".

[ She brings the flower to her face, its pink bloom a contrast against her relaxed attire. ]

[ This week's chair is a director's chair, albeit one with gold gilt finishing. Hibiki props her chin on a hand as she watches everyone spar, sipping at her tea. Let's see here. Who will stand out to her...? Who here is doing something - exceptional?

[ Watch out for this group of puppies, all running after its leader! Said leader has gotten hold of Hibiki's purple sweater and is having the time of its life running with this prize streaming behind -

Right until they hook a paw in the sleeve and go tumbling over. The other puppies pile on, all eager to play with the new toy.

Eventually they all manage to drag it up to another person and drop it at their feet, a-wiggle, every last one of them. Fetch? Please????? ]

[Kaden had had his time with the puppies a little earlier, only stopping when they'd got distracted and run off to someone else. He'd actually been looking for a quiet place to nap when here they all came again, tumbling over each other to get to him, but who would he be to ignore a pack of playful puppies?]

[... and then he's noticing the sweater, a little dirty and damp from being in puppy mouths and beneath puppy paws. But this sweater clearly came from somewhere. His ears go back for a second as he picks it up, sniffing at it - it's loaded with that new puppy smell, but there's still a little bit of someone else's scent hanging on it.]

Who did you guys take this from, huh? This belongs to someone, we should give it back.

[ At 6'5, Midorima is difficult to miss as he walks into the training grounds with all the confidence of a god. He comes to a stop in front of the weapon's station, his lucky item neatly placed in front of him as he peers down at the row of weapons. ]

[ Amid the revelry and festivities, the Sky God can be found drinking tea in relatieve peace while his lucky item sits safely at his side looking. You can either strike up a conversation with the little tsun or wait till the dogs arrive to rip apart his world. ]

A - God Training
[Goku is not in the mood for this, honestly. He just got done yelling at some gods and now he's being told he is one? It's dumb. All this stuff is dumb. He understands most of what he's being told, but it's weird and it's dumb. He's tired.

He's also still covered in blood. The stuff on his clothes has dried by now, but that doesn't change the fact that his shirt, shorts and cape are all stained with blood and dirt. He doesn't have any serious injuries standing out, but his face is pretty scuffed up and... He's so tired, guys. He was just getting ready for a twenty hour nap when suddenly he was being woken up and told that he was some god he can't even pronounce. He shouldn't even be walking right now! He should be resting and recuperating and maybe having a sandwich.

But first things first. The change in scenery and the confusion have given him a second- third?- wind, at least. He ducks out of the God training session once it becomes clear the end of it isn't going to be "by the way, here are your friends" and starts running through the Meeting Hall gardens and dojo, looking around with a determined expression on his face. ]

Hey, Sanzo! [Was that some blond hair- damn it, he's too short to see over everyone's heads. He jumps up to get some height but no, no Sanzo.] Sanzo! Hakkai! Go-

[He's looking to the side, not right in front of him and-] Oof! [He bumps right into someone.] Hey!


B- Rest and- puppies!

I'm so hungry...

[Looking for Sanzo is important, but he should be fine if Goku takes a break to have something to eat and rest his weary body. He was just laying on the ground unconscious last Goku saw, he can't get in too much trouble like that. Goku gets a plate from the shinki serving food, piling it high with fish and sweet potatoes and mushrooms and yum. The food, at least, gets a rather exhausted grin. The training other people are doing looks like a lot of fun, but it'll have to wait another day with the state Goku is in. Eating will have to be enough for him.

Goku takes a seat on the ground against a nearby wall, gets ready to dig in and then-] Aah! Hey! [Two puppys run off from their group to leap onto Goku's lap and start sniffing at his food.] Hey, cut it out! Hey, that's mine- [He holds the plate above his head, leading the puppies to start climbing up his chest and lick his face.]

Stop it- no, you can't- [Okay, no one can be in a bad mood covered in puppies. He starts laughing, even as he's trying to push them away from his plate. Maybe petting and pushing at the same time.] Bad dog! Stop!

► A. Physical Training... Or Not?
[He have planned on borrowing the animated dummies. But it seems like they're not available. And from the looks of the white robed shinki around, he figured he can leave them alone and find someone to spar with.

Well, that's his original plan before one of them came over and recruit him into helping out.

With a piece of paper on a clipboard in one hand, and a pen and an accelerometer in his other hand, he approach the closest person he can see.]

Hey. Are you going to use the dummies? [He holds up the accelerometer for them to see.] Can you wear this while hitting them?

► B. R&R: Puppy Problems
[It's break time and Yamanbagiri decides to sit down on the ground with his cup of water, sipping it. On the ground in front of him is a plate of food, filled with the autumn-themed food selection for lunch. All in all, a pretty typical view to see around here.

Until the puppies come over and start to sit, or lay, atop of the bottom part of his cloak spray out behind him. Yamanbagiri didn't really notice them at first.

Until they start playing around behind him, still on top of his cape.]

Eh—[He looks behind him.] ... What?

[He looks increasingly baffled by the puppies behind him, and looks like he's... stuck?

Deep down, he couldn't bring himself to remove them...]

[Suzaku has been trying to find people to help him out in measuring things himself. He has a tape measure and some paper and a pencil and is currently taking the dimensions of one of the dummies when he is approached.

If they all help each other this work is going to completed quicker.] Of course.

[Suzaku has been here a couple of weeks now, he has learned a lot in that time even if some of it was spent sleeping. Still there is always more to learn.

He can see the lesson in trying to heard butterflies. After all sometimes it was better to be subtle in both attack and defense. He has been practicing his borderlines every day since he arrived and is getting better at them.

Still he is concentrating hard as he throws gentle borderlines up, focusing on creating barriers and not cutting any of the butterflies.]

[Apparently he hadn't learned his lesson. If you pause for long enough to not look busy you get put to work. He doesn't mind though and measurements are more interesting than scrubbing floors.

The white robed shinki hadn't really had much time to explain exactly what needed doing but Suzaku quickly found that he understood the maths. Measurements, angles of attacking, for a long while he is measuring and calculating, knelt on the floor by one of the dummies. Soon has a technical sketch of the training dummy and is currently looking for people of different heights to check that his estimations are correct.] Would you be able to assist me for a moment?

[One he has turned in his measurements he finds a space in the dojo to do some training. Over the last couple of weeks he has gotten a better idea of his skill level and he wants to test it.

He starts with unarmed, moves onto swords. He goes through forms and practices against a test dummy. He is fast and he pushes himself, any attack idea that comes into his mind he tries it.

He tries out some other weapons as well to see which ones he knows and which ones he needs to learn.]

[The green skinned shinki almost didn't stop when Suzaku asked his question as Piccolo walked by on his way to another area for practicing on his own. But as if an after thought to ignoring his way past the Namekian finally paused several paces away and glanced back over his shoulder at the other shinki. His lips pressed into a thin line briefly. Then he finally responded.]

With what?

[He still didn't fully turn around to face Suzaku but kept his gaze on the other as he waited for the reply. Noteworthy enough was his height: it was rather more tall than the average or even above average human height, giving him the vantage point of over seven feet. It might give some interesting measurements if nothing else. If the aloof Namekian agreed to help after all.]

[Zelda did not actually come to the dojo to beat up a training dummy today, though you wouldn't be able to tell from the practice gi she's wearing and the cloth wraps wound around her hands. Her strikes to the dummy are quick, precise, targeting what would be the weakest points on a human opponent and making up for what she lacks in strength with accuracy and speed. But whenever she finishes her set, she looks to the white robed shinki and asks--]

Are you satisfied?

[The answer is always no, and so it's with mild exasperation that she sighs, draws herself up, and begins again.]

[Eventually someone else gets that shinki's attention, and Zelda uses the opportunity to sneak away to her real goal: the archery field. She looks over the variety of training bows with some confusion - there's so many! - but eventually picks out a shortbow she thinks looks familiar enough and sets herself in front of a target.]

Now, how did he do this...

[She mumbles quietly to herself as she lifts the bow up, her movements almost seeming like she's trying to imitate something she's seen before rather than anything having to do with actual training. She grimaces a bit as she draws it, feeling the muscles in her back being worked in ways she's not accustomed to... and frowns when she releases the arrow and it lands a good ten feet in front of the target and slightly to the left.

Man, Link made this look so easy...]

[There is a puppy trying to play with her feet as she drinks her water. Even Zelda "She Who Takes Everything Way Too Seriously" McHyrule can't possibly keep a straight face at that.]

Are you playing hooky from your lessons? [The puppy leaps to its hind legs at her cooing, scratching at her knees, and Zelda just has to pick up and put the little thing in her lap at that.] Hmm... I suppose I do not have much right to scold you for that.

[She understands, you, pupper. She really does. But now she is going to squish its face, aaaah puppyyyy--

[Have you ever seen someone stare so intently at a butterfly? Have you ever seen someone look uneasy at the mere presence of one? Well now you have. Adrien has his arms crossed over his chest watching them flutter. ]

I should just be glad they're not birds.

'I don't like it either..' [The kwami murmured from his perch on Adrien's head a soft hiss escaping his tiny frame that is far, far louder than one would expect for something of Plagg's size.]

II. Locked to Marinette & Tikki
[He's brought up a barrier - keeping the butterflies away from himself. Plagg's level of agitation is concerning so when Marinette came by he's gently stopping her. Peering at her with worry.]

Is Tikki acting a little upset about those?

[He's gesturing to the butterflies. Some of them are black and it's..those Plagg seems to react the most strongly to. Not that Adrien can understand this.]

I've tried to tell him they're harmless but..

[There's a low snarl from the little kwami as if to prove his point.]

[Suzaku is currently using borderlines to herd butterflies around but he stops when he sees Adrien looking so uncomfortable.] Do you not like butterflies?

[He throws up another borderline to send his group away from where Adrien is before dropping it and going over.

He blinks in surprise at the little creature on Adrien's shoulder, no name comes to mind for what it is.]

I. Shinki Training

[Piccolo spent a majority of his time training and practicing his other skills rather than focusing on his newly gifted shinki abilities. This was probably a mistake on his part and he was currently attempting to rectify that fact. Much to the detriment of the spirit butterflies.

There were several wingless butterflies now crawling awkwardly along the ground, their wings clipped from miscalculated borderlines.

Making a borderline wasn't all that hard for someone as skilled in controlling his energy as Piccolo was. Unfortunately, he was better at attacking things than corralling them and--maybe he just didn't get the exercise at first and attacked the butterflies on purpose? The determined look on his face was kinda hard to read beyond the obvious concentration in his gaze.]

II. Physical Training

[Eventually Piccolo tired of training with his shinki ability to create borderlines. It wasn't nearly as satisfying as using his other fighting abilities was. So he wandered off from the area with the butterflies, leaving several decimated spirits in his wake, and found somewhere else to practice his other skills as he preferred.

He did his best to avoid the white-robed shinki grabbing anyone and everyone to help with his measurements and calculations. Piccolo wasn't all that interested in such things. He also didn't need any of the training equipment other than perhaps a sparring partner, which the non-moving dummies didn't provide very well to him. His time spent performing a few overly practiced movesets against a still dummy target was short lived to say the least.

The green shinki eventually made his way outside into an open area. There he set targets of his own--typically a certain flower or post off in the distance--that he aimed carefully at before unleashing a devastating energy blast. He used only a fraction of his power to keep from blowing up more than just the immediate surrounding area of his target but it was still impressive to watch a flower basically disintegrate in a cloud of dust and earth that flew up from the blast.]

[They may just be small spirits, but there's something kind of... unsettling about the idea that someone would keep at this kind of delicate exercise when they so clearly do not have the touch for it. Keith regards the scene with some small degree of incredulity, speaking up once he has an opening.]

You, uh, need some help there?

[It's not the kind of training he was hoping for today, but it's better if other shinki know how to properly control their borderlines. May as well step in if he can, in that case.]

[Considering the mishap her shinki went through late last month, Soleil's priorities have been far outside of attending the training sessions and more along the lines of fussing over Berserker to make sure she's healing up just fine. As such, she's been feeling a little out of practice, and itching to get some one-on-one training in.

She's not planning on staying around the training grounds for terribly long, but, considering the automated training dummies are out of commission for the day, there are surely plenty of people wanting to get some practice with a more challenging partner than any of the static dummies.]

[Of course, just hanging around the training area makes her susceptible to the whims of the shinki overseeing the area and his... tasks. She doesn't necessarily want to help out with this bizarre job of stat-taking, but the guy was just so pushy, she figured it'd be easier to just get some of the information down instead of trying to fight.]

Excuse me, don't mind me here.

[What she's been tasked with is, apparently, height taking on both the dummies and those who come to have a few cracks at them. There's a few other notes to be taken after that, but first thing's first! It's simple enough, though she's definitely not giving the combatants much warning before sizing them up with the tape measure.]

[Really, Shinji had really just been more curious about what sorts of things would be going on at the dojo, rather than wanting to give anything a try himself. Unfortunately, that sort of loitering earned him a Task from the shinki in charge, and now he's carefully picking his way through the area armed with a thermometer to take temperatures, and a clipboard to write his findings down.]

Um, sorry, if you have a second - [Of course, that means he'd probably going to be interrupting a good number of people's training in order to check the temperature in their space. Really, every square foot? Is that even completely necessary??] If I could just have you wait, just a moment, I won't be here long.


Borderline Practice
[He hadn't really taken advantage of this his first day here, so really, it's high time that he get some practice in casting borderlines in. The basics of it, he's got down, but in practice... he can't really get the boundaries to be very big, or powerful, or even hold them up for very long.

It's unlikely that he'll actually ask for help, but he's pretty clearly struggling with this endeavor in particular. Maybe someone with a little more experience can give him a hand, here.]

[Emizel was found practicing on something a little different than usual: A wood bow and arrow. He was actually kind of thrilled the animated dummies seemed to be absent today, not that stationary targets were good for real life application but if they had been moving... it might be a miracle if he could land any hits at all.]

[In which case not every try was a miss, but he also was not trying to do trick shots or anything too fancy either. And the times the arrow did go past a dummy, well...]

[The arrows don't seem to be lethal, but even then, be careful where you stand.]

[After he was done training for the day Emizel looked for a quiet spot to rest in, not even aware he was getting close to where the new shinki were practicing. Just as the demon was about to close his eyes something fluttered across his peripheral. He sat up once he realized what it was.]

When did you get here?

[Though at a closer glance, it wasn't one of his butterflies. The wing pattern was different from the ones he had seen anyway. It was also a pretty obvious when it didn't seem to respond to him either. A little while later Emizel spotted another one close by, and another.]

[It certainly made it feel like home. ....One of his homes.]

[Sakon bends backwards, just barely missing getting shot right between the eyes by an arrow. When he hops back up, he looks around frantically, trying to pinpoint just where the projectile came from. Even with all the people in the room, it doesn't take long to spot a likely suspect.]

[There's no malice there, since he's really not angry. Just worried that someone is going to lose an eye.]

[...He'd considered the butterflies. But sending cutting lines at them isn't really what he wants to do, despite his good aim.]

[Instead he's sending his lines at a nearby shrub, taking off leaves and branches little by little, carefully avoiding any butterflies that draw near.]

[After a bit of this, though, he starts to look more and and more unfocused, and if one pays attention, he's starting to breath harder, too. Eventually he drops his arm, and rubs at his eyes. He's known that he can't train for too long without something like this happening, but this...came on much sooner than normal.]

Physical Training

[Valvatorez himself is a practiced warrior, having seen countless fights over his many years. But learning that Shinki might end up being something other than what his preferred weapons are, he decided to take up the opportunity to learn a few new weapons. He had long favored swords, but he was certainly good with a spear too. Other weapons he could use in a pinch, but truth of it was he was not as practiced as he ought to be.

So with that, he picked up other weapons, taking turns hacking away at the training dummy with whatever was on hand. Axes, maces, flails, and whatever other martial weapons they had available, he'd give a try with. In fairness, he was pretty decent with most of the ones he picked up, though a keen eye could catch that he was leaning on experience from his preferred weapons to adapt to whatever he was using. He eventually switched to ranged weapons, including a bow and even a gun. Perhaps a surprise with his small frame, he had little trouble with drawing even heavier bows, but to say he was a good shot with them would be a lie. He's very clearly a novice with bows, and frankly he wasn't much better with guns.]

...Training dummies are only worth so much. I do wish they offered something more of a challenge if they want us to improve.

[...There might be a significant amount of salt-grilled fish missing from the main table and it has found its way to Val's plate. The vampire himself though, has moved to a quieter area and is digging in rather passionately on the fish. Yep. That sure is a rather dark looking character shamelessly chowing down without a care.

If anyone who looks interesting happens by and doesn't approach him first, he'll flag them down.]

[All Emizel wanted to do was practice some more, but now he got roped into this, despite the protesting. Apparently some shinki just won't take no for an answer, then again Emizel was still just a minor god.]

[Why did the air temperature needed to be measured anyway? It was as good as anyone's guess. Emizel had to sit on top of some dummies just to get a good enough reading. It was not something he wanted to do.]

[...Especially when he could hear shots nearby. At one point it sounded close enough that he dropped the thermometer on to the ground. A bit of panic seeped in. If he had somehow broken it...]
