[Open] Leaving the house sometimes

[April 15th, Daytime, Open]

[Roxas needed to get out of his temple and fast. Being cooped up in there trying to figure out a way for Raichi to get in and Sora visiting has left him with the feeling of cabin fever. His first target of course will be a book store. There's plenty to read up on, plus he wanted to expand his ever growing manga collection. This one is already putting the one back in Koriko to shame.

His next stop would be any place where there's animals, such as a pet store or possibly a dog park. Roxas wants a pet that isn't a deer, what he thinks might be a bear somewhere in the woods, or an assortment of game birds. Having those as sacred animals was rough on the nerves. A dog might be nicer as a companion.

Roxas, before heading to a spot he really wants to check out, will wind up in a park. It's nice and comfortable there, and being pretty unnoticed by people makes it much easier to doze off in the grass. He's still awake enough to notice people nearby... but maybe not someone who walks quietly.]

[April 15th, Sunset, Prompt for Dataroxas]

[There was a lot of things to mull over. So Roxas found the highest place in town and just sits on the roof to enjoy the setting sun. He was always drawn to high places. Part of him wonders if Axel and Sora were, too, or that guy. That guy who he disliked immensely from the moment they met. Thinking about that guy was ruining the moment, so Roxas shoves him as far out of his mind as possible so he can enjoy ice cream in peace. He's rather lost in his happier memories from back in Twilight Town.]

Maybe I should bring Axel up here sometime...

[April 15th into April 16th, Evening to Morning, Artemis' Temple, Open]

[Since his discussion about gods and their family times, Roxas has wondered how he could reach out to the other Greek pantheon gods. He isn't actually all that sure about who was who past Aphrodite and Hermes. At the moment it just didn't jive with him to ask about it on the BBS again. Hermes would let him know if more were found. Right?

He's mostly wandering on the edge of his temple grounds to check on the statues during the night. When that's done, Roxas sits by the walkway to his temple watching everything else go by. Seems this little god can't sleep tonight.]

[April 16th, Daytime, Prompt for Axel]

[It was time to see where his best-friend-yet-not works! Roxas had suggested an ice cream stand to the red head. Was it take seriously? He's determined to find out. It's not hard to find Axel with that red hair and those green eyes. Walking right up to him, Roxas puts his hands on his hips, looking up at his friend.]

[April 16th, Evening, Open]

[The Near Shore was really fascinating at night! It was like a different population of people were out and about. Roxas was so used to seeing spirits, ghosts, and monsters instead of humans, so he's utterly fascinated by all of the humans. This kid can be easily spotted just watching people walk around, listening to their conversations, and just... rather enjoying this activity. He might need a less weird suggestion for entertainment.]

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like ice cream. And why is there a shrine right there?

[Is that even important right now? Maybe the gods put it here on purpose.

Roxas pretends he's thinking hard before nodding.]

Sure! I know a great place that's got the best view!

No special reason, this ice-cream shop just happened to be close to one.

[Axel shrugs, grinning at Roxas.]

So, while I've got the last couple minutes of my shift going, what flavor do you want?

[He waves one hand grandly at all thirty-one flavors.] The limited edition specials are over on that side.

[Starting to get the idea that you're just as much of a slacker even without your memories, Axel.

Roxas laughs softly to himself as he looks over the basic ones.]

What's the limited edition ones do you have? There's way too many of the normal ones to pick from...

You like salty ice cream, right? That one might be good. [He points out the pink cherry-blossom flavor.] It's supposed to taste kind of like sakura mochi.

[But! There's a way to make this decision easier! Axel reaches for a sample spoon.]

Want to try some?

I like sweet, too. [... he's not the biggest mochi fan, but he'll try it for Axel. Mochi was too gooey and kind of gross. Easy to choke on, too. Plus it was the default sweet in Koriko. Bean type sweets are his last resort.]

Uhm... sure.

Wow, that was encouraging. Just try a little, and if you want to try a different one we've got plenty of sample spoons!

[He scoops up a spoonful of the sakura flavor and hands it over: it's not a mochi texture at all, and the flavor is a mildly floral one, with the faint bite of cherry leaves and a little saltiness.

It's not his favorite, but he figures if Roxas likes sea-salt it might be his kind of thing. Who knows?]

[Roxas can't say no since it's been handed to him. He tries it, and at first it's nice till-]

...... are... there leaves in this?

[G-Gross....]

... Are there?

[He only had a sample spoon-sized taste himself....]

[You're not going to ask why he knows what a leaf tastes like?

Roxas nods.]

What seasonal one do you like?

Me? You know, I kind of like the strawberry cheesecake flavor. Muskmelon's not bad either.

[He leans over, pointing them out. As for the seasonal ones, though...]

... Sunrise sherbet, too.

[Those flavors are okay. Sounds like the usual stuff he found back in that place.]

I'll try some of the sherbet.

You've got it.

[Sample spoon time! This one's a citrusy blend, with orange, lemon and grapefruit sherbet flavors swirled together. Axel checks the clock idly: just a few more minutes and he'll be free, too.]

So how've you been, Roxas? Did you figure out that temple thing for your shinki?

[Roxas is reminded of summer trying this. It's okay. Maybe something less fruity...

That question is met with a nod.]

Raichi can come in now. He's really happy about that! We just haven't really gone on any prayers. [At least not till he's sure Raichi is healthy enough for it.]

Good. ... Wait, why haven't you? [Axel eyes him worriedly, putting one hand on his hip as he takes in the equally worried look on Roxas's face. What's on his mind, anyway? Is there something wrong with his shinki? Or just something else getting in the way?]

Is something wrong, or have you just been busy with other stuff?

I've been busy, but Raichi. [Oh gods. How to say this?] He's. He's not bad. Just really... really dumb. [So dumb it's a wonder Raichi is somehow still alive.]

And his ability is not that great.

Ouch. Not the kind of guy you want to bring to a fight, then, huh? Even if he's in his vessel form?

[Dumb's bad enough -- you don't want somebody who's dumb charging in face-first, or they'll get themselves killed. Or you. And as much as Axel doesn't even know Raichi, if the guy gets Roxas hurt or killed, Axel thinks he might have a real problem,/i> with him.

The other half of it's actually worse. If he hasn't even got a vessel ability that's easy to fight with, Roxas might just as well not even drag him along at all.]

He's a baseball bat. His ability makes me lose complete control.

[Which is great against lumbering or not very smart opponents.]

I can't stop it on my own without dropping the bat and I can't do that if I just wanna do nothing but hurt anything or anyone in sight.

Wow.

[That's actually dangerous. So, Roxas is defenseless, in other words. Can't use his shinki, hasn't got another one... Axel leans his elbow on the counter, and affects a tone of totally casual disinterest.]

You know, it sounds to me like you need a different shinki to do your fighting with. I wouldn't mind putting in some part-time work.

[That. Uhm. Wait. What?

Axel was volunteering? Roxas just stares at his not-best friend for a while.]

Why?

[As much as he wants to accept your offer, he would like to know what the reason is.]

Don't give me that look. It's not that weird!

[Maybe it's a little weird, but as long as Axel refuses to admit that it's like it's normal, right? Right.

That's definitely how this works.]

Anyway, isn't that kind of an easy question? I like you, you've got a shinki who's gonna get you killed if you take him into a fight, so if you want to name me, I'm up for it.

[Roxas should be happy. He is but he isn't. This meant seeing Axel's death. This would either crush Roxas or maybe alleviate the guilt he feels.

He hesitates before nodding.]

So what do I do?

[Raichi had just been given the name he had from his previous god.]

You can do it however you like. You know, go all fancy with the "I bestow on thee this name, whatever-name-you-want...."

Or just name me and call the name!

[Which is a little simpler than most of his gods have gone so far, but Axel can't see why it wouldn't work. He grins at Roxas.]

... Let me go clock out first, though. You know, just in case I turn into something big. Meet you outside?

[Fancy isn't his style.]

Okay. I just gotta think of a name.

[Even if they'll see each other in a moment, Roxas still gives Axel a wave before heading out.

... he can't imagine what kind of big thing Axel would turn into. A lion, maybe?]

[Axel tosses him a grin and disappears into the back of the store, stuffing his hat and apron into his locker and clocking out before he heads back out front. He waves at the next worker -- even if she isn't going to remember, it's polite, or something like that?

Whatever.

Shrugging, he lets himself out front and glances around for Roxas. The sun's sinking towards the horizon, but it's still late afternoon, not quite sunset.]

[Roxas isn't too far off. He's admiring the sunset, though it wasn't as pretty to see from the ground. It was still such a huge difference seeing it from a city instead of the beach he had gotten used to. Both had their charms. Personally, Roxas preferred the city sunset.

He turns around to see if Axel was outside yet and smiles.]
