I could get plenty of first dates! The problem is in talking them into the second and third.

[Which: okay, he's lost more work partners than romantic partners, but that's mostly because work partners get assigned to him every time the old one scores a transfer. Also, because workplace relationships are complicated and shinigami/mortal relationships are worse.

And because people he falls for --

He's thinking about Hisoka again and he was trying not to do that. Tsuzuki summons up a joking smile, crossing his arms behind his head.]

But hey, if you know anybody who likes really old men, introduce me!

Are you kidding? Look, not to sound like a homo or anything, but have you looked in a mirror lately? [ Gojyo rolls up onto one elbow and tosses Tsu a teasing wink. ] If you're talking then you're not doin' it right.

So here. [ He waves out at the mass of people milling about. ] What do you like in a girl?

Uh...

[Tsuzuki props himself up on his elbows too, blinking. Crap, is Gojyo actually going to try to set him up? With a girl? Or are they just still shooting the shit? He's not quite sure for a moment.

... Okay, if Gojyo introduces him to anybody like he is supposed to take her out, worst case, he knows a bunch of nice parfait places and they can just make friends, it's fine. No need to make this conversation weird all of a sudden!

What does he like... he clears his throat, settling down, and stares out at the party crowd.]

Smart, I guess. Somebody who cares a lot, but can have fun, even if I've got to talk 'em into it. [That maybe should have been talk her into it, but Tsuzuki's not really paying attention.] Short hair, pretty face....

[ Short hair -- the pretty part's a given -- smart, maybe a little shy to start? That sounds like a librarian, or a teacher or something. That's easy enough! ]

So what's fun, to you? Where're you gonna take her? [ You know, before taking her home, nudge nudge wink wink. ]

Maybe out dancing. Or, hey, if she [right, they're talking about girls, so he's really got to make sure this doesn't turn into the world's awkwardest date set-up, she might get mad at Gojyo!] -- if she likes karaoke better than you, maybe that!

[He clears his throat.]

You know... I'm not really looking for a girlfriend, though.

Um, there's that disappearing thing. Plus, are gods even supposed to date?

[ Next week Gojyo will be trolling karaoke bars, on the prowl for that nerdy-looking girl who got dragged along by her roommates (because there's always one). Anticipate that phone call, Tsu! It's gonna happen. ]

Since when do you care what they say we're supposed to do, huh? [ He stabs out his cigarette into the dirt and stretches, grunting happily when that damn mid-back vertebra pops back into place. ] And anyway, it's not like I'm tellin' you to go get married or anything. Just go out and have a good time for a bit.

You know, maybe you're right. [Tsuzuki laughs easily and flops back down onto the blanket. Whatever, he's not going to try to discourage Gojyo's sudden matchmaker streak too hard. That'd just get weird, and he wants to keep the conversation kind of lighthearted.] I should just go have some fun. Worrying all the time's gonna give me wrinkles.

[He winks in Gojyo's direction.] It'd really suck if I looked my age.

Anyway, hey, if we're talking dates, what's your type?

[erogappa]

[ Good man! Agree with the kappa, the kappa is wise. If you spend all your time thinking serious thoughts, you'll just make yourself sick. It is known. ]

Me? I'm easy. [ In every definition of the word. ] I like 'em with blonde hair and big tits. [ He sketches a top-heavy hourglass with the tip of his cigarette. ] Bottle-blonde, real blonde, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I think so. We'll get the water in a lot faster!

[Or that's the theory, anyway -- but a crack of thunder from the other side of the park as black clouds swirl together with magical speed interrupts him. His head snaps up.]

-- Or somebody with the right kind of magic could show up. Look!

[ Goten comes to a halt as he follows Tsuzuki's gaze. Are storms suppose to form that fast? Whatever the case, he gapes in aw]

That's magic? Wow..I wish I could do that!

[At least this means the fire is going to be put out!]

Yeah, it's got to be. Storms don't come together that fast.

[Tsuzuki tosses him a quick smile.] I wish I could, too! Everybody's got their own talents, right?

[sonofson]

[Goten is still staring up in awe at the storm spreading. It's probably going to end up raining on them too.]

Ahuh! I think so...what can you do, Tsuzuki? I bet it's just as cool!

[Well, maybe. It's hard to top a storm]

It's not that flashy! I can heal people if they get hurt, and I do magic.

[The specifics of his magic take a while to explain, and the first raindrops are starting to rattle the leaves and soak the fallen ash to black mud. Tsuzuki puts a hand on the kid's shoulder.]

Hey -- we should get out of here before we get soaked. Are you a god or a shinki?

[sonofson]

[That's it. Tsuzuki can do magic?! Goten's eyes grow wide as he bounces up in excitment. He met someone that can do magic!]

You can do magic? That's really cool! Are you like a wizard? I don't think I can do anything like that! And you heal people! You've gotta be the most helpful person ever....in less fires start.

[Because that's been clearly pointed out. His attention does drift back to the scene briefly though. It really doesn't feel like they did much of anything but Tsuzuki is right, they're just going to stand there and get wet if they stay. The fire is under control and that is what counts. So he moves to follow Tsuzuki's lead. He even points to the weird name on the top of his right hand.]

Shinki!

Oh, sure enough! [Tsuzuki glances down at his hand -- in the dark and with all the excitement, he hadn't taken a close look before.]

Haha, I can help sometimes. It takes a storm god for situations like this one, though, I guess... so who's your god? I should get you back to them!

[sonofson]

I met him earlier! His name is Archie. I wanted to explore more before heading to his place. He's probably around but I donno where.

[Saying that though, he could probably follow where that storm cloud was coming from. Archie did mention something about weather powers. But he isn't quite ready to call it a day. No way!]

It's okay Tsuzuki, I still wanna explore some more. If you wanna go find your god, I can help you though!

There's a lot of options! What do you like! Really sweet, kind of sweet? Fruit, chocolate, sugar...?

[This is Tsuzuki's specialty. His eyes light up.]

There's only one word you used that Zeno doesn't understand. Normally Zeno does like sweet things, even if they're not filling, but Zeno's not ever had... chocolate.

What is it?

You've never had chocolate? Oh man, are you ever in for a treat! Chocolate syrup, chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate eclairs --

[Tsuzuki's brightening with so much enthusiasm he almost looks like he'll catch fire at any moment. Well -- okay.

There are some things to watch out for about chocolate here. But that was only the one time and he's sure it's safe now.]

Plus just chocolate candy!

I haven't got any in here, but it's -- um...

[He leans over, looking at Zeno's cupcake pile. There's got to be a chocolate cupcake in there somewhere.]

[Zeno giggles. Clearly he chose the right thing to focus on, because this kind of passion... it's so cute. His smiles make Zeno all happy, too.]

So it's something you can do anything with, does Zeno have that right?

[And following that lean. Zeno's eyes widen.]

Could Zeno have had it here all along, and not known?!

Yeah, I bet you have! Look for one with brown frosting.

[White, purple, pink, blue... there! That looks like chocolate! Tsuzuki points it out.]

[With the indicated confection in hand, Zeno... contemplates it solemnly. Will it live up to the hype. Or will the novelty carry it?

Only one way to find out. The cake part is very moist, and the frosting is... quite intense. He takes a second bite, right over the first, and gets a little frosting on the tip of his nose.]

It's good. [That much is true.] Sweet, definitely. Zeno's not sure how to compare it, but... this is common here?

Absolutely! I'm surprised you never tried any before. Where are you from?

[He frowns suddenly, worried. Is this guy a shinki?]
