Yeah, I think so. We'll get the water in a lot faster!

[Or that's the theory, anyway -- but a crack of thunder from the other side of the park as black clouds swirl together with magical speed interrupts him. His head snaps up.]

-- Or somebody with the right kind of magic could show up. Look!

[sonofson]

[ Goten comes to a halt as he follows Tsuzuki's gaze. Are storms suppose to form that fast? Whatever the case, he gapes in aw]

That's magic? Wow..I wish I could do that!

[At least this means the fire is going to be put out!]

[sweetdeath]

Yeah, it's got to be. Storms don't come together that fast.

[Tsuzuki tosses him a quick smile.] I wish I could, too! Everybody's got their own talents, right?

[sonofson]

[Goten is still staring up in awe at the storm spreading. It's probably going to end up raining on them too.]

Ahuh! I think so...what can you do, Tsuzuki? I bet it's just as cool!

[Well, maybe. It's hard to top a storm]

[sweetdeath]

It's not that flashy! I can heal people if they get hurt, and I do magic.

[The specifics of his magic take a while to explain, and the first raindrops are starting to rattle the leaves and soak the fallen ash to black mud. Tsuzuki puts a hand on the kid's shoulder.]

Hey -- we should get out of here before we get soaked. Are you a god or a shinki?

[sonofson]

[That's it. Tsuzuki can do magic?! Goten's eyes grow wide as he bounces up in excitment. He met someone that can do magic!]

You can do magic? That's really cool! Are you like a wizard? I don't think I can do anything like that! And you heal people! You've gotta be the most helpful person ever....in less fires start.

[Because that's been clearly pointed out. His attention does drift back to the scene briefly though. It really doesn't feel like they did much of anything but Tsuzuki is right, they're just going to stand there and get wet if they stay. The fire is under control and that is what counts. So he moves to follow Tsuzuki's lead. He even points to the weird name on the top of his right hand.]

Shinki!

[sweetdeath]

Oh, sure enough! [Tsuzuki glances down at his hand -- in the dark and with all the excitement, he hadn't taken a close look before.]

Haha, I can help sometimes. It takes a storm god for situations like this one, though, I guess... so who's your god? I should get you back to them!

[sonofson]

I met him earlier! His name is Archie. I wanted to explore more before heading to his place. He's probably around but I donno where.

[Saying that though, he could probably follow where that storm cloud was coming from. Archie did mention something about weather powers. But he isn't quite ready to call it a day. No way!]

It's okay Tsuzuki, I still wanna explore some more. If you wanna go find your god, I can help you though!

[sweetdeath]

Are you sure?

I mean, it's okay if you are, but... [Independent as he seems -- and despite his powers -- he's just a little kid. Tsuzuki blinks, after a moment.

Wait. His god?]

Uh, I'm a god, though.

[sonofson]

[A kid that is full of energy and that doesn't have his mother here to tell him when to go to bed.]

But...?

[He's curious, looking up at Tsuzuki before the next bit comes out. He laughs a little, giving a small shrug.]

I can't really tell shinki or gods apart. Everyone just looks the same to me.

[sweetdeath]

But shouldn't you keep an eye on your god? You know, in case they need to go somewhere in a hurry, or whatever.

[It'd totally be a favor to the god! And not to the kid who needs to be sticking at least a little close to his guardian. Yeah, that's the ticket.]

Ha ha, yeah, you can't really tell just by looking. Unless you've got a name where it shows, like your hand.

Us new gods and shinki all got here the same way, anyway!

[sonofson]

Should I? Archie seemed pretty strong too. But you're right, he couldn't fly...

[Maybe he should go find him after all? Tsuzuki has good points. Goten is just new to this shinki thing]

Tsuzuki! Have you been here long or did you just get here sorta like me?

[He's met a few people. Some serious guy with really cool hair had been here for over a week. And Sheryl seemed to have been around awhile too. Maybe Tsuzuki is the same? Actucally-...He looks this way and that before looking back up at him]

How come you're not with your shinki?

[sweetdeath]

I guess he's new, huh? I've been here a couple of months so far.

[Tsuzuki rubs a hand over the back of his neck.]

Uh, they're all right! I can tell.

[sonofson]

Months? Wow you've been here awhile then! But how do you know they're okay?

[He glances around once more. He doesn't see anyone around that looks interested in Tsuzuki, so probably none of them are his shinki]

[sweetdeath]

Gods can feel it if their shinki get upset, so if they're in trouble, I'll know.

[Wait... this might be counterproductive for the "you should stick with your god" argument. But shinki can't feel gods' emotions back! Unless this kid has that power all on his own. So yeah, Tsuzuki can still try to talk him around.]

[sonofson]

But shouldn't they be with you then? You almost got roasted.

[You know, back at the fire before and after he accidentally threw the bucket at Tsuzuki's head. There had been no shinki to help him...]

[sweetdeath]

Huh? No, that's okay! I'm hard to kill.

[Ha ha! ...ha. He smiles awkwardly.]

Anyway, though, you're right, I should find them and you should find your god, uh, right?

[sonofson]

[Nod nod nod]

So we should look together then, right?


[because that's clearly the best course of action!]

[sweetdeath]

Uh... how about I help you find yours first! Who'd you say he was again?

[And he can go find his shinki afterwards! It'll be fine. The kid'll be with his god and not wandering around in the night risking a tree falling on his head.]

[sonofson]

Archie! I don't remember the other name he's suppose to have. But he sorta looks like a pirate! Wears lots of blue to!

[He's going to bounce on over to Tsuzuki and run around behind him. This small child has a good idea!]

[sweetdeath]

[Tsuzuki turns around, blinking curiously.]

... What're you doing back there?

[sonofson]

[Goten just grins as he floats up to hook his arms under Tsuzuki's arms.]

It'll be easier to see above, right

[ that's all the warning the sweets god gets before Goten starts to fly up with him]

[sweetdeath]

Whoa! Give a guy some warning before you do that! [Tsuzuki manages to avoid panicking and flailing -- that'd get him dropped -- but it's a close call. Instead, he peers down into the firelit darkness. It's not easy to see much down there at all.]

...Can you see?

[sonofson]

[Goten keeps a secure hold on him. Not enough to hurt Tsuzuki, but just strong enough to be sure not to drop him. That would be bad! He soars up high, way above the tree line.]

Um...not really...

[Peering over Tsuzuki really gives him no results either. He floats a bit lower, trying to get a better view. Maybe if they don't go as high? Just above the trees. At least they're covering more ground faster?]

Better?

[sweetdeath]

A little!

[Tsuzuki's craning his neck and squinting fiercely into the darkness, but the tree branches still hide too much of the grove, even singed and smoking.]

I think we're gonna have an easier time on the ground anyway, though. It's too dark.
