[It's definitely hard to tell which is which when it comes to how foods taste only by sight or sometimes smell. Some things smell strong enough that he feels he can safely assume they're going to taste strongly, but others are almost impossible to pick, and it's definitely been a problem.

At the offer, though, Shun still frowns a little.] You don't have to go out of your way, unless you really want to do it. What I consider strong is a lot different to what other people do anyway.

[ He’s beginning to see firsthand that she’s going to be a problem—but not as dire a one as most of the other morons he runs into around here. He watches her withdraw a little into herself and feels a pang of…guilt? Ugh. When she meets his gaze he realizes that he hadn’t intended to refuse her anyway, for whatever it was.

At least she isn’t too irritating. He might even venture to say that she isn’t any harm at all. ]

I suppose that wouldn’t be too much trouble. [ He does want to get away from this crowd for a little bit—find some nice quiet area with which to quietly survey the festival for any signs of danger. He glances around, wondering if there might be a nice tea house or some other quiet place to hide in, but with the crowd jostling and pushing around them, he doesn’t get to stick at it for very long.

Instead, he turns around. ]

Come along, then. And be sure to remain close by. I don’t have time to come looking for you if you should lose me in the crowd.

[ Keen eyed as Miyuki always is, he picks up on the twinge, and his attention hones in on the back of Mei's neck when he rubs at it. He can see a bit of a blemish, and it's been there since they went to Mexico, but he would've thought it'd have faded before now.

He holds onto that for now, though, because he's piecing the puzzle together, and instead turns. His elbows drop on the railing, and he leans back, looking up while Mei looks out. ]

[Thankfully Davesprite doesn't really give two fucks about it being phrased as a demand rather than a request, because hey, any interest in rap battles is good interest, right. He raises a taloned hand placatingly, taking a moment to consider likely candidates for where they could catch a good rap battle.]

Usually they're underground sorts of things, certain clubs at certain times of the week kinda deal. I'd have to do a little digging around the local music scene to find out, but if I do turn up anything you'll be the first to know.

[Oh... she can sympathize with that. Not that Natsuru remembers her mother at all. But she thinks if she was pregnant and needed someone to stay with her, Natsuru would definitely be there for her. Even if it meant sacrificing something else.

She's not sure what to say about that, but Oona changing the topic chases away the more somber mood for now.]

Oh... my favorite festival food? I'm... not sure. It depends on what you're in the mood for! I like takoyaki, but if you want something sweet, crepes or castella are really good too.

a. Autumn stage

[ And what a day to make a debut. Tanabata is certainly a large enough event to get herself out there after all. She wasn't expecting herself to make her first appearance on stage so soon but here it is.

No matter the state of the sky outside, a harvest moon rises above the ceiling of the autumn stage. It hangs in the black 'sky', brilliant and golden even if everything remains in absolute darkness. It's only when Hime appears wearing a yukata done in a deep purple accentuated by a dusting of gold leaves and black lace at the hem that a burst of color cuts through the darkness, injected with the sudden scent of mikan oranges. An explosion of reds and yellows appears, intensifying with each step she takes. It makes the trees and ground burst in yellow and orange leaves, those same leaves billowing around her feet as she walks.

Then the music starts. It's a slow melody, simple but certainly something that can allow her voice to carry over the music and through the audience. It's a lonely song, but one she doesn't allow herself to falter on. It's a song whose sensation many would be familiar with: parting ways with someone important. Certainly fitting, if she was asked, with the theme of Orihime and Hikoboshi's story. So... she must give a perfect performance. It's her debut after all.

And a certain someone might be watching.

By the end of the song, the bright harvest moon above has gone through its cycles and finishes as a crescent moon. Its light has been overwhelmed by the pale illumination coming from the reds and yellows of the leaves that swirl around her. And its those very same leaves flurrying around her that allow her to exit the stage.

After her performance, she can be found outside and trying to catch her breath. She lets out a deep sigh, eyes closing as she raises a bottle of water to her lips. ]

....that was.... something else...

[ She's... frustrated. This is the problem when you have a personal desperate wish you want to leave but happen to be around 5"3. There's also only so far you can reach when you're wearing a yukata. Unfortunately, it isn't far enough.

If you should catch sight of her, she's trying to hang her slip of paper on a high branch with much difficulty. Someone help a girl out and preserve a lady's dignity? ]

[ She said she'd meet him as soon as he was free. That would give him plenty of time to take care of his business and give her plenty of time in turn to rest and get properly changed. Unfortunately for her, she wasn't counting on having business of her own to take care of in the form of meeting her own god and getting things squared away with him.

So she's late.

But she's quick to push through the crowd. Thankfully, Rei Ryugazaki is an easy boy to find. ]

[ And she's giving him a quick bow when she reaches him. ]

[ Scent is beyond the purview of Hibiki's powers but not her capabilities. Some special effects can be unleashed the old-fashioned way: by throwing lots of money at the problem.

She smiles as the mikan-scented perfume is released on schedule during the performance. That was a particularly nice touch.

Afterwards, she goes in search of the debutante and finds her recovering. Hibiki has a bottle of sparkling water and a glass on a silver tray. She pours the water and offers Hime the glass. ] A crystal clarity like a cooling river. Fitting to whet the throat that granted us all a pool of autumnal melancholy.

[ Okay, enough metaphors. For this moment. ]

[ Should you happen upon Souji, it's more than likely you'll find him out and among the stalls, especially the ones with games. He's not especially skilled at the shooting ones, so he doesn't spend too much time there, but. He is a fair hand at others, and is working to accumulate a number of prizes throughout the festival.

What does he do with these prizes?

Well, he gives them to passersby, those that either look like they might need it or anyone that particularly catches his eye. That might even be you! The prizes, of course, range in ridiculousness, as all festival prizes often do, but is dealer's choice in just how much so. ]

[ Souji tilts his head up, taking in the air of the festival and the wishes that have already been placed, as well as what he can feel off of Homura. She's such a calm presence that he appreciates, no matter the situation, and he knows that she's there for him, and for Nanako.

Having her watching over Nanako reassures him the most, he thinks. He looks down at the names that mark both of her hands, and then at her, and his smile is soft, honest. ]

Then that's a perfect start to making sure this wish comes true.

[ That same, fluttery feeling that's been caught in his chest happens again, and what it is finally clicks into place for Shouto. He might not have a heartbeat anymore, but he sure can feel the sudden hiccup of feelings, with or without the pulse. It's interesting, and he'll have to consider it later, but.

He's more focused on the cause of it - Izuku's beatific smile.

It doesn't stop him from thinking the same thing, though. He has no idea what a date entails. ]

We should. [ Because they're dating now, right? And couples cross it? ]

Soon. They'll take their first steps as a couple on that bridge. It's... it's almost embarrassingly romantic. His heart is hammering in his chest and he can feel his whole face going red.

After a moment of hesitation he'll take a step onto it, and immediately, he moves a little closer to Shouto, pressing his cheek against his shoulder.]
