[Lightning has finally decided that it was high time to do a prayer with her shinki. Natsuru is picked first since she’s the more skittish of the two, and it’ll be their gods first prayer as well. The prayer entailed helping a failing business get back into business. So, Lightning took it. Too bad the place seemed to be exactly what she didn’t want to work. Lightning loves to eat, but how is she supposed to sell sweets?

At least she has the amusement of sticking her shinki in an outfit that would detract from her own uniform.

Come one, come all to this shop and harass these two young women. Or just buy stuff and help them get through this.]

[Unlike her shinki, Lightning is sitting behind the counter, lazily flipping through a magazine that happened to be nearby. She's not in the mood to advertise outside, and despite her looking like she should be a barista with that apron and uniform, she really stands out with her pink hair. There's sweets of every kind here! You can even get some coffee or tea to go with them.

Basically, get Lightning to do her job and buy as much sweets as you want to. Hopefully this place will pick up business now.

Or you can already have bought something and Light will deliver it to wherever you are sitting. Just don't expect a smile.]

[Lightning doesn't have a smile but that's fine, Honoka can be smiley enough for two people. No problem!

She's ordered a lemonade flavored cupcake.]

[She nods, and does give Honoka a small smile.]

Don't eat it too fast. It's a little sour.

It's alright, I'm sure it's balanced out just fine.

Are you working here now?

[Sheryl is an admirer of all things sweet, as one of her hobbies is trying out new desserts at wherever restaurant she can find. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on Lightning's mood), she happens to stand in front of the counter, watching the array of sweets with wonder in her gaze. It's like she's in candyland! Or something.

After a while she sits back on the table as she waits for her order, then once it's been made, she instantly perks up. With a bright smile on her face, she takes the mocha-flavored brownies.]

Thank you so much! [Of course she's going to make some small chat now that Lightning is here] Is this where you'll be working for now on, or is that for a prayer?

[Light had a feeling that Sheryl was a sweets fan, so seeing her here wasn't a surprise. When she drops off the order, there's a soft sigh, looking around the room at the other customers.]

Prayer. My shinki is the one out front in that ridiculous outfit.

[Not sorry at all about that.

[galactically]

Is that so?

[She follows Lightning's line of vision, arching an eyebrow at the girl from outside and— whoa. What a bright outfit! Quickly hovering a hand over her mouth, Sheryl will do her best to stifle the laughter that threatens to burst out. Is she successful? Well...

Maybe imagining Lightning in that outfit is not a good idea.]

That poor girl! She should have chosen a different outfit to get more customers.

Ah, thank you very much!

[There's a lot of sweets around here, but she doesn't think she could bring herself to just...indulge in that. Not yet. That might change with a bit of talking, hopefully, maybe.]

Where do you keep the cream and sugar again?

[She smiles, apologetic. Silly thing to wonder, and likely as obvious as anything.]

No problem.

[Looking around, she grabs two containers. Both are lidded, but one has a spoon hanging out, and the other has a spout.]

If you need more, just ask... you sure that's all you want?

[Oh, that's quick service. She brightens up, even as her stomach gurgles.

...stomach, stop betraying her.]

Ahaha...I think so?

[Sorry Lightning, just. Ignore her noise.]

[ Much like Lightning, Freyja stands out with her multi-colored hair and heart shaped rune. Especially when it starts to glow bright pink whenever she is excited like now as her order appears on the table. She forgoes any tea or coffee and settles for simple apple juice but it is clear that is more than enough for her.

Though she is honestly more excited by the caramel apple cupcake she ordered along with it. ]

Ahh... holey moley. It looks so good, thank you!

I'll let the baker know that.

[Lightning had tried a few of the sweets herself, so she is confident her customer will like this. Though she does place a fork and napkin down beside the cupcake.]

It's rather messy. You should use this.

[soothes]

[ Without a doubt she's already in love with it. Freyja does happily accept the fork and napkin with a bright smile. ]

Oh, good idea! It wouldn't be good to spend the rest of my afternoon a mess since I still have a lot to learn about this place.

[After chatting with the scantily dressed girl outside, of course Schuldig heads inside too. He scans the room and, as usual, gets a whole lot of junk nothing. Odd little thoughts about worrying this and wanting that. Then he scans the barrista and instead of nothing he actually gets blocked from seeing her surface thoughts. Huh. Not a regular human then.

He approaches her at the counter once it's his turn.]

Hi, I'm looking to get a frequent customer card - but I can't help but notice you're new here.

[savioring]

[Lightning has had people in her head at one time or another for a long time. Blocking it all out is second nature now.

She picks out a card with a cute little design that has several little circles on it for stamping.]

Come in ten times and you get a free coffee or cupcake. [She looks at him before glancing at the poor girl who seemed confused about something keeping her from reaching the counter. So this guy was from the Far Shore.] It's for a prayer.

I see, I see... An interesting prayer, getting you behind a register at a sweetshop...

[He takes the card and steps aside, leaning against the unused register as if he's looking in the pastry cabinet now. This business being so successful must be why the other Pâtisserie he and Nagi found ended up in the red.]

So which side of the work force are you on? A nice, composed woman such as yourself -- you'd be the most proper shinki I've seen yet if so.

[Her god is calling the shots here, so of course Natsuru is the one that ended up wearing a ridiculously cutesy outfit and advertising outside. Her hair's even been let down and styled into fluffy twintails with curls and all. It's kind of embarrassing... and yet somehow familiar. By a force of habit she doesn't really understand, she's mostly able to forget about how eye-catching the outfit is and greet prospective customers with a smile.]

Welcome! Would you like to try a sample?

[The tray she's carrying is filled with assorted miniature cupcakes, an extra incentive for people to stop and consider actually going inside.]

If you like what you see, come on in for more~!

[She may occasionally even throw in a cute wink at the end for emphasis! It's like she's been doing this for years.

More observant types will probably notice how embarrassed and awkward she seems when she thinks no one's looking. But to her credit, she manages to keep up the perky customer service attitude when she's focused on trying to attract more customers.]

[ The outfit honestly reminds her of something Makina might wear during one of their concerts. It was certainly pink and enough! It's hard not to smile in response to Natsuru's own and takes one of the miniature cupcakes that have been offered her way. Vanilla with bright colorful sprinkles that smells (and tastes!) absolutely delicious. ]

Mm! It's really super good. [ Maybe she should take some home for Nightshade. ]

[Success! Natsuru's smile brightens just seeing Freyja's reaction.]

There's a lot more kinds in the shop too! We only serve the best.

[She gives the perky sales pitch with as much energy as she can muster. After it's done though, she seems to dial it down to a more even level.]

[She's genuinely confused at that. What makes him think she lost a bet?]

[She's far too innocent to realize what the rest means at first! Then, she puts his immediate reaction to seeing her together with what he said, and it dawns on her. Her cheeks flush at the nearly horrifying thought of someone thinking she meant it that way.]

I-... I meant the cakes! They're really good... though, I guess it's more about how they taste than how they look, huh?

[Yeah, she really hopes he'll let that go.]

[Ah... he knows the feeling of being dressed up much better than he'd like. She seems better in her outfit than he was in his, but he's reminded of his time doing a similar prayer.]

[Her friendly smile brightens up just a bit more, and she holds out the tray for him to take one of the tiny cupcakes. The question catches her off guard, in a good way. He's being pretty considerate.]

Sure! I... think I'm used to this.

[She can't be sure, since she doesn't remember. But a lot of this feels familiar.]

What do you think? [Of the cupcake, she means.] If you go inside anytime, you can get a stamp card with your purchases too!

[Of course she recognizes the god that helped her out and also gave her chocolate when they met!]

It's no big deal, we're handing out free samples as a promotion for the shop!

[She won't force her to take one, of course, but she doesn't want her to feel bad if she wants one. She can even drop the sales pitch and take a moment to answer the more personal question.]

It's... a lot to get used to, but yeah. Lightning-sama's been helping me settle in. And there's another shinki living with us, too.
